2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
This ^ who cares how small the arena is if it's packed and the students get to watch their team try to make the Frozen Four? Oh and the added bonus of the exposure via national television for that school that EARNED that ranking. -

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to AlphaMikeFoxtrot's topic in Men's Hockey
It's easy to say you should always bring in freshman instead of 5th years but I think that's wayyy too simplistic a view. Do you want to win a national championship that season? Do you think that 5th year player or the freshman(that maybe could season in juniors) is going to further that goal? Many times it will be the 5th year player that furthers that goal. To be clear, we're not talking about delaying a Brock Boeser like talent to give a walk on a 5th kick at the can here. I don't think anything close to that has happened where we lost the freshman. I've noticed posters aren't using Cole Spicer as an example of a mistake by Coach Berry any longer... -

Aren't we almost out of the woods on this? If my math is correct, guys that were in their 1st year of eligibility during the COVID season would be on their 5th year next season. -

If there's one thing history has shown us, we never have any injuries that would allow the freshman 14th forward to get a chance to prove himself. -
Alaska @ North Dakota - Sat Gameday

I hope Berg has a hat trick -
No kidding, that’s wild. Makes a lot more sense and helps put all those wins in perspective

Was just thinking it’s crazy they’re 16th in the PWR with a 16-3-5 record

#20 Alaska @ #6 UND - Last non-conf series
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to brianvf's topic in Men's Hockey
Probably a good idea because there have been some mental mistakes in the 3x3. High risk plays that would make sense in 5v5 but obviously have to adjust. The one the comes to mind is that attempted pass(by Berg?) vs DU to a streaking forward who was squarely wedged between 2 defenders. -
U.S. Under 18 Team @ UND
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Hockey
It won’t because Alaska is a solid top 20 team this year -
If UND makes the Vegas Frozen Four... oh boy, that'll be a destination

So... Wade Murphy?

New NCHC postseason tournament format
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to farce poobah's topic in Men's Hockey
Schloss talking on his podcast about changing the NCHC playoffs to home arenas as a catalyst to potentially getting NCAAs at home sites has me excited. Also, imagine the atmosphere at the REA having Denver, Duluth etc coming to town in late March with the NCHC Frozen Faceoff on the line. It’s more hockey at the REA and I’m here for it. The Covid frozen faceoff was electric and that was in front of 5-6k fans. -

On TH’s radio show this evening, Berry did confirm an illness going through the team. TH brought it up so not like he’s making an excuse but explains CC having more jump most of the weekend -

In general the 5th year just seems like it's a little much, especially when some of these guys went to juniors for multiple years before coming to campus. It's such a weird thing when it comes to senior night and the finality of your college career being over(buy maybe not). Like many others, I'm looking forward to it expiring so you know how long a guy will be here. All of this to say, I love Riese and what he brings to this program and I'm sure come May I'll hope he's coming back to complement our top 2 lines. -
This board is a wild place

Dare I say I can’t remember a UND team that gets scoring from all over the lineup since… 2010-11? Also a St Paul Frozen Four year
-
Thought the same thing, Gaber was circling like a vulture and after a few give and gos they just left him alone in his office. Do that and he’s probably scoring on a third or more of those shots. Sure DU has a ton of talent in their top 6 but sure felt like our 3rd and 4th line showed their worth in the last period. We were dominating and looked like we were the team used to playing at altitude.

Got me there, you know me too well

Almost reminds me of a mini Marriuci. Can't wait to see a game there, perhaps next season
