Would you guys be surprised to see Sanderson sit after starting to produce? I kind of would be...

UND Bookstore just released hats, a green and grey one with the Brien logo(neither fitted) and a fitted green hat with the geometric logo. I went with the geometric to match my new sweatshirt.

I think this is a fair comparison, I'll allow it. -
When the source is "someone somewhere"? .......No
-
Huh? Could you be more specific than someone somewhere? And even if that someone somewhere did exaggerate the NCAA's strong-arming, who cares?

I don't understand why it's a big deal that UND wanted to maintain the trademarks on their intellectual property that they own? It has value and just because they are now the Fighting Hawks doesn't mean they should completely stop trying to capitalize on that value.
-
Yup, you can only refer to the Fighting Hawks. A true fan won't even look at the Sitting Bull Statue or $104 Million arena that is a monument to the Fighting Sioux history. Blow it up and play at Purpur with Fighting Hawk decals because we're true fans.

It's already been stated by the equipment manager(I believe?) that next year the jerseys won't say Fighting Hawks because the order was already submitted to Reebok along with all of the NHL teams. So no, next year's jerseys will not referenced Fighting Hawks.

So I Guess Fighting Hawks It Is
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to geaux_sioux's topic in UND Nickname
I thought you were confused as to what the connection with North Dakota and a Warhawk was and I was just stating that we missed that boat a long time ago. As far as a connection from Fighting Hawk to Warhawk, a Warhawk is a plane with the name Hawk in it that is generally used in aerial fights (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, my aviation knowledge is quite shallow). People are looking for something, anything that they can grasp on to that might produce a decent looking logo. If it's stretching the name Fighting Hawk a bit to not become the 43rd bird mascot and hold a little originality, I'm all for it. Also, I don't believe(again correct me if I'm wrong) that the committee ever outlined what each nickname meant, as in stating that a Fighting Hawk had to be an animal. -
I just realized the lighting in my picture makes the lettering look pink. I'm not cool enough to rock the pink, it's definitely white.

Just got the last large that was on the rack at UND bookstore, Couldn't pass up apparel with the geometric logo.

2015-2016 College Hockey (non UND Hockey)
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to cberkas's topic in Men's Hockey
I'm not... that was my assumption originally too. However, a few people on here seemed to have implied that because it's a tournament or because it's Non-Conference that they get 80 minutes. -

Aren't we past the part where the nickname has any specific meaning/tie to North Dakota as a state? -

InHeavenThereIsNoBeer replied to cberkas's topic in Men's Hockey
But that TOURNAMENT game has national implications. Why do they have 80 minutes to decide a game when every other game only has 65? I understand a tournament needs to keep playing to decide a winner but should it have national implications beyond what other games get? I feel like I'm not getting my point across. -
Because math... or something

That still doesn't answer the issue it brings up. Why would they get a 20 minute OT to decide a game when all other non conference games are 5 minute OTs? If I had to guess, I'd guess only a deciding goal in the first 5 minutes would be recorded as a win in the PWR and everything after 5 would be a tie. It is an interesting question tho so wondering if anyone can confirm. -
I'm pretty sure they did not pick it up last year, so I wouldn't hold my breath this year.

Thanks for all the info, just booked an express deal for a 4 star hotel through Priceline for $62/night 3/18-3/20. The hotel is the Hyatt Regency if anyone else is looking to book right now. It's 5-6 blocks so not right next to the arena but it's a nice hotel and you can jump on the Nicollet bus to if you don't feel like walking.
