  1. I think that is where he is best at as well he can clog up the middle with his size and free up LBs. I believe the Illinois PWO offer is for DL too. It sounded like the plan was for him to visit Illinois and South Dakota this weekend.
  2. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we see both Poolman's at UND next season. No inside information or anything I just think it could happen as I believe it would be the first time the 2 would get to play on the same team. The Jets tried to sign Poolman last year and I'm sure they will come after him again it will just come down to what Tucker wants to do.
  3. My guess would be F-Jost, Hoff, Yon, 1 or 2 of Bowen, Mattson(draft position could play a role), Adams, and Keane. The defensemen situation is a little harder because 4 of the defensemen had contract offers last season so you could see anywhere from 1-4 leave and it wouldn't be all that big of surprise. I'll say Evers, Bast, and Poolman come in.
  4. Probably Colin Schmidt found him on Twitter and looks like his profile pic is him at the Ralph. He's a Soph at Wayzata and has 9 goals and 3 assists this year. I didn't find a size on him but did see him mentioned in a preseason article from Chris Dilks: Colin Schmidt-F-Wayzata-Schmidt is a big, tough power forward with good scoring ability. He hasn't drawn as much attention as some of the other top 2000-born prospects in the state, but that won't be the case for long.
  5. Was the W blue/yellow? If it was it could have been a couple different Wayzata kids although both of the guys I'm thinking of are 6 ft or under so not real big kids.
  6. Real solid bounce back Fighting Sioux business type effort tonight. Nice to continue to see guys step into the lineup and make an impact. Not sure how Ausmus got called for a major on that hit I'm not even sure it should have been a penalty at all.
  7. I believe the Illinois offer is as a PWO and wouldn't be surprised if that's what UND offered as well. Before Illinois offered a PWO I believe he had offers from a few of the MN Jucos and that was pretty much it but not sure if that was grades related or if higher level schools just didn't see enough on film.
  8. Agree about too much chipping the puck out last night but I'm not sure that was what we wanted to do as I thought it seemed like there was a long period of time where guys without the puck were just standing around waiting for the guy with it to go end to end which really limits the passing options. Olson did have some struggles at times last night but he also made some very nice passes to setup chances including Sanderson's goal as well. I think the big reason he is in the lineup is to bring a physical presence but at times last night I thought he showed some nice skill which is something he has shown in high school and the USHL. The thing with Olson is it seems like it takes him a little bit get to get going skating wise so if he gets the puck flat footed he gets in trouble because he doesn't have that quick 2 stride explosion that you see with some other guys.
  9. If Tomek is gonna get the chance to start this year I think it will be tomorrow. I wouldn't be real mad or surprised if Cam got the start tomorrow and a chance to bounce back though either. I wouldn't go with Hrynkiw I just think he takes himself out of position quite a bit and the rebound control usually isn't real great.
  10. That's a game we need to win, no excuse for only getting a tie out of that. Great start and in total control and Thompson fans on the pass and then tries to still make the pass after fanning on it and it turns into a CC shorthanded goal to give them some life. Get to the 2nd and seemed like things were back in control even though we were missing on lots of passes and most of our guys weren't really moving unless they had the puck on their stick but then Cam gives up a couple terrible goals and CC has a lot more life. Get a little bit into the 3rd get called for a pretty weak penalty and Hrynkiw is sliding all over out of position and CC ties it up and quickly after that takes the lead. Some desperation from Boeser, Poganski, and Gardner gets us to OT and Boeser/Hrynkiw salvage a SO win. I thought we used the bank it off the glass breakout way too much tonight part of the reason was probably because we had too many guys standing around and I think that was a big part of why we missed on so many passes. Neither goalie for the Sioux was real good tonight both looked shaky and out of position most of the time. I'd start Cam again tomorrow or otherwise if Tomek is fully ready and has been solid in practice maybe give him the chance and see what he can do with it. CC still didn't generate many offensive chances tonight just need whoever is in net tomorrow to play much better than tonight and hopefully we get a more crisp game on the offensive side of things and get a solid win.
  11. No Nelson played through his SR year. I remember watching his Warroad team win the section championship over Zane's Thief River team that year in East Grand Forks.
  12. Jost at 15 and Mattson at 49 among North American skaters and Thome is at 19 among North American Goalies. Agreed pretty surprised Gardner and Kiersted weren't on the list and Schloss also mentioned Adams as having a shot to make the list but he didn't either.
  13. Hain is a very good prospect from Grand Rapids I know he has offers from both Minnesota and North Dakota.
  14. Solid game tonight with a little more physical play. I thought the reffing was awful tonight Omaha got away with a bunch of holding and hooking while the refs called the Sioux for 2 or 3 penalties on Omaha dives and another 2 that I thought were good clean checks. Thought it was weird for Wilkie to be benched tonight as he played pretty well last night but saw Berry mentioned he was out with an injury as was Wolanin so that explained it. Hopefully Caggiula, Wilkie, and Wolanin aren't out too long but if they are out for any time its nice to have some depth where guys like Olson and Sanderson stepped in tonight with pretty nice games. Also really thought Gersich played well tonight and if Caggiula does miss any games I think Gersich is the best fit to fill in on that top line.
  15. I thought Wilkie played pretty well last night too and seemed to be a little quicker and on the puck more so I'm surprised to see him out tonight. Kinda figured St. Clair would be out tonight and that they will try to bring him along slowly.
  16. Sioux just really weren't sharp tonight more missed passes and miscommunications than we have seen in a long time. Still had chances to win I'm not quite sure how Gardner missed the wide open net and hit the crossbar on the nice setup from Boeser. Cam didn't look on top of his game tonight either. Omaha really thrives on the opponent making mistakes pretty much all their offense tonight happened off of Sioux miscues. Even though they had 7 penalties Omaha got away with a ton of hooking and holding especially in the first 2 periods was a little surprised how much quicker we were throughout the lineup as usually Omaha has a ton of speed. Would expect a crisper performance tomorrow night from the Sioux to get the split.
  17. I really think they get it wherever they can and really does depend on the year as they seem to have very specific requirements they look for at certain positions. The last few years the DBs they have gotten from the Midwest have been from Illinois and Michigan and You are right the only in-state DBs they have were preferred walk-ons outta high school although 1 of them has been put on scholarship now. This year is a great in-state class and they have 3 WRs from Minnesota committed in Howard(Robbinsdale), Johnson(Minneapolis), and Hmielewski(Marshall). The Gophers have 18 commits right now 8 MN, 2 TX(both played some HS in MN), and 1 each from AR, FL, GA, IA, IL, KS, LA, and MS. In recent years only Johannesson and Jones come to my mind at the RB spots as MN and ND kids. I can see Holm getting a PWO offer but I don't think the Gophers will offer him just seeing who they have visited this week as backup DB options and think he will end up at UND.
  18. As a Gopher fan in everything but hockey I will say the basketball is hard to watch this year and its more fun to look forward to next season. They are very young with only 3 upperclassmen and those 3 probably playing the worst of anyone who gets any playing time. Pitino does have a very good recruiting class and a couple solid transfers sitting out and will need to produce next season. Everyone knew this year would be a struggle but maybe didn't expect it to be quite this bad. As for football I like Claeys and think he is a good fit. He made a couple of tough calls getting rid of the QB coach and OL/OC after the regular season who had worked with a long time and that was probably the right call but had to be tough with the longtime relationship. They have had some turnover on recruits but most of that is differences in philosophy between some of the coaches who had made the call to take the guy and who is in charge now. Really the only one that wasn't a "mutal" parting was losing a juco DE to Oklahoma State as he was a very solid pass rusher and that is something they lacked. I really can't see the Gophers offering Holm anything other than a PWO spot so if he wants a scholarship I would think he will end up at UND.
  19. Sounds like they will still add a DB or 2 but I have seen a few names of guys that they will target at DB and can't say I've seen Holm's name at all.The Daniels were planning to visit Maryland and it sounded like the staff told them go ahead and visit if you want but if you do that than were gonna move on. The other DB they lost was a juco kid who didn't graduate at semester like he was supposed to and they decided to move on rather than wait until the spring.
  20. I think that was more to do with Terrance Newman playing much better than they expected for most of the season. They were able to bring Waynes along slowly because Newman was so good for most of the season but I thought they were better off towards the end of the season when Waynes was in rather than Newman. I liked the pick of Waynes at 11 and I still like him and think he will have a very nice career in the NFL.
  21. The defense is very solid but we need a safety to start opposite Smith and I would put that as one of our bigger needs behind OL/WR. Sendejo shouldn't be a starting safety and there really aren't any good options on the team to fill a spot that has been a weakness for about 3-4 years now.
  22. Walsh has to make that field goal but you're right Peterson had another costly turnover in another playoff game at a time when you needed a drive to take some of the momentum back from Seattle. I would've liked to see more of McKinnon today as Seattle was having a tough time matching up with him and let Teddy throw it a few more times but Norv stuck with the run even with 8-9 in the box. At times Peterson can be very frustrating as sometimes he gets caught trying to look for a TD on every touch and ends up losing yards instead of taking the 3-4 yard gain that was there.
  23. I was saying to go for the TD on 1st down there too rather than just running to set up a FG just because I didn't trust Walsh but would have kicked the FG when it got to 4th down. It was a short kick that Walsh gets paid to make and has to make no excuses. Game changed with the scramble play and then Wilson being able to pick on Robinson who is a horrible CB because Newman and Waynes were both hurt. You follow that up with Peterson fumbling on the next drive and all the momentum is gone from the Vikes. Vikings had lots of other plays that coulda have been made too like the weird play when Wilson missed the snap and then hit the guy downfield to give them life, Peterson fumble, Sendejo not coming up with the interception when he got the chance, letting Wilson escape 3-4 guys a couple times to throw the ball away rather than get him for a 10 yd sack. Couple other tougher plays that they had a chance at to with McKinnon not being able to make the grab in the 1st half down the seam after being held by Chancellor and Diggs not coming up with the jump ball deep shot. This team should have won today and who knows how far they would have went but it definitely wasn't a perfect team. Lots of areas that need to be improved in the offseason like a safety to pair with Smith, the OL, and a good WR that you can pair with Diggs.
  24. I thought Lindgren the Gopher commit was there best defenseman. He did get muscled off the puck by Poganski that led to the Caggiula goal but he was real smooth skater with lots of skill and actually reminded me of our own defensemen, he's definitely a guy I would have liked to have coming to UND.
