In addition to the two you mentioned maybe Palodichuk and goalie Castro as far as next year guys, Godbout is a guy I like too but maybe after another year of juniors. Future recruits Finley, Uhlenkamp, Brink, Skahan. Cleveland is a big stay at home D with the development team too. Of immediate interest to me is their roster and potential portal shopping. Stramel and Ceulemans are 2 I would have interest in, maybe LaMaster with our defensive needs.

I would guess yes.

James has really played well this 2nd half of the season and it is good to see it paying off a little on the stat sheet here as of late. Have to do a better job of putting the knife in them when you have them down, those couple PPs when we were up 3-1 where chances to finish them and they were atrocious. Didn't think Deridder was near as sharp as he had been showing lately, really struggled with rebound control.

That is the old Mankato. This year is down a little averaging 32 shots per game and 3.2 goals but the previous 5 seasons they were 4, 3.6, 4, 3.5, and 3.8 goals per game. They aren't just a clog up the neutral zone and play defense team, they get up and down and have had plenty of speed/skill.

Kinda a up and down game. Lot of chances you'd like to cash in on. Need to finish tonight and get a regulation win.

Frietag, not really right now. Supposedly he has very minimal interest from basketball schools although Wisconsin is one. I know Fleck really wants him at WR. So much for the top 20 player as Evans has now asked for his release. Apparently his people pushed for it. He would've been a defensive presence at 7'1 but probably wasn't gonna provide much immediate offense. His rating is based mostly on his high potential as he started basketball late and has taken massive steps forward the last year and a half. This offseason is huge for Ben Johnson as I think next season could certainly be make or break. If it is anything close to the results we are seeing this year I'd say Minnesota is looking for a coach next spring.

Big part of the reason and he did that with Payne, Carrington, and Ola-Joseph last year along with getting Garcia to transfer back. This year he doesn't have any coming in but he has 2 4 starts in Cam Christie from Illinois whose brother plays for the Lakers and Dennis Evans from California who played for USA basketball this summer and is the #18 player in the country according to 24/7. For 2024 they are probably looking at a couple openings at least as of now and the top target is a Minnesota in PG Isaac Asuma of Cherry which looks like it could happen within the next couple months and then they are looking at a couple bigs, Grayson Grove of Alexandria is one they are tracking close.

Nope, sounds like they met with him once but didn't feel there was the interest there. Honestly if you look at the last few years Gophers haven't had much success with the type of profile he fits. You look at all the Lakeville kids that have headed elsewhere, Heide from Wayzata have struggled with bigger suburb kids.

He is expected to really blow up this spring/summer with some big time offers.

A local kid I hope we have at least shown interest in is Roseau's Noah Urness. Impressive speed/skill combo.

Exactly, feels like more losses this year where we completely outplay a team than the last 5 combined. What 3-4 posts tonight too? -
Much needed win What an effort from Blake in OT for the winner Need to be back it up with another win tomorrow

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Man you have seen something way different with Farmer than I have. He has been the most disappointing player for me this season. Thought he would bring much more offense, puck moving, and just overall smart decisions but instead he has been a turnover machine. -

Right now I feel like we have a team built on basically 2 skilled/scoring lines and 2 grind type lines and we need to adapt our personnel to get into 3 skilled/scoring lines. If you look at our lineup right now I'd say Jamernik, Senden, Portz, Albrecht, Ness, Hain, and Strinden are more of the grind type right now although I do think Strinden and Hain could play with skill and elevate to those roles but they haven't been put in those positions. Kunz and Caulfield I'm not real sure where they fit because they bring some skill but I'm not sure they skate well enough to play as much of a skill/scoring role as you'd like. If you look at what could be here I would classify Blake, Gaber, Schmaltz, Costantini, James, McLaughlin, and Perron as guys who need to play the skill/scoring type roles/style. The biggest thing I want to see moving forward is more speed and skill but also playing those speed/skill guys together. To me if you get Gaber back something like this is what I'd like to see: James-McLaughlin-Blake Gaber-Schmaltz-Perron Strinden-Costantini-Emerson Kunz-Jamernik-Portz/Ness -

To me there is no need to bring Albrecht back, between him Portz, and Ness I feel like they are same player and you don't need 3 guys bringing that same profile to the lineup. -
I think Panzer has dealt with injuries much of this season even when he has been playing.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

This squad is very reminiscent of a couple other of Berrys teams like the one that got swept by Canisius. I don't have a lot of faith in Berry to get this program back to where it should be which is consistently top of the conference, top of the 5-10 nationally, and winning NCAA tournament games while getting to Frozen Fours. Yes Berry has led us to some conference championships and won a national title taking over that 2016 team but counting this season and not counting the covid year he will have also missed the NCAA Tournament 3 out of his 7 seasons including 3 of the last 5, only been to 1 Frozen Four, lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament twice, and been on the road in the NCHC playoffs twice. To go along with that a number of our teams including this year have no clear identity, defensively we have gotten worse in his tenure, recruiting has taken a big step back and in my mind a big part of that is on the the lack of energy/effort from the head man. We have had multiple embarrassing loses in the non-conference both at home and on the road like Canisius, Arizona State, Cornell, Penn State, U18 team, Bemidji, Union, and Michigan State. Along with bad conference losses to Miami, Omaha, and Colorado College now I'm not saying those non-con or conference losses were embarrassing because of each of the programs although some are I'm saying it because when the losses happened they happened to bad teams in that given year. I'm at the point where whatever is gonna bring change is what I hope happens. If that means we need to get embarrassed a couple times down the stretch here then so be it because the best thing for North Dakota Hockey right now would be making a change. This program has and should have championship expectations year in and year out and right now we are nowhere close to that being realistic. -

Defense and goaltending continue to plague this team. Never seen a UND group struggle so much in coverage. Ty Farmer has been such a massive disappointment to me, really thought adding him would give you a solid 4 to rely on with Kleven, Frisch, and Jandric but it hasn't been that way at all.

It was always the easy need a whistle play. Gets cold in there especially if you get the pleasure of a 6AM practice with frost still on the glass but great hard ice and when the place gets rocking it is awesome. I remember playing Park Rapids at home when the Lehrke that went to Mankato was a SR and they were a top 10 team with and may have been undefeated at the time and we jumped out to a 3-1 lead and they took timeout and the place was electric with people constantly pounding on the walls the entire timeout you couldn't hear anything a coach was saying.
