  1. I would think Chartrand would come in next year as I believe he will turn 21 in January. A couple other names to keep an eye on and see how they play in the USHL that could be brought in next year if needed are Colton Poolman, Tye Ausmus, and Eddie Eades.
  2. Schlossman said he in the Herald chat that he would probably expect Chartrand, Evers, and Shaw to come in next year with the losses of Mattson, Schmaltz, and possibly LaDue so if we lost all 3 that would leave us with Ausmus, Thompson, Stecher, Poolman, Chartrand, Evers, and Shaw but I still wouldn't be surprised if they added a older USHL type guy as a depth defenseman to give them 8.
  3. Yeah I wasn't real concerned with how Teddy performed today as I felt it was more a result of the play around him. Lots of drops from receivers, little separation from receivers, very poor protection, and lack of a consistent running game will make any QB look poor. I was impressed with the Lions D and there d line is very good which it should be with the high picks on it but I was surprised by how well they were able to cover Vikings receivers as that is usually their big weakness. I agree with Teddy being the future at QB and they will have to start building around him with many areas that need to be upgraded in the offseason OL, WR, RB(if Peterson isn't back next year), LB, a safety to start opposite of Smith, and maybe another corner as well.
  4. Believe they missed 3 field goals and only lost by a field goal so that was a big part of it I thought I saw they were like 4-12 on field goals coming into today's game.
  5. It has been posted in the college hockey thread I believe.
  6. I thought BSU looked much better than the squad they had last year. I still probably wouldn't bet on them going down and beating the Gophers on the big ice sheet but I wouldn't be surprised if they are able to really test them at least one of the nights and I think they could finish in the top half of the WCHA this year.
  7. Vikings offense has been beyond bad today. Teddy has 3 picks today though only one is really on him, receivers with some bad drops and having trouble getting open, but worst of all the OL looks like turnstiles and could very well be the worst in the entire NFL.
  8. Watching on TV Olson was pretty good. He did a good job playing physical and causing turnovers and had 1 pretty decent chance to score but I believe he whiffed on the shot. One of his first shifts he caught a BSU player with his head down along the boards and absolutely ran him over with a hit that kind of reminded me of the one Malone put on that Denver kid a few years ago.
  9. Wild win 3-0 over Colorado. Parise scored the empty netter with 3 seconds left and Roy tried to throw his fighters out there for the last faceoff and the ref wouldn't allow it and sent them off the ice to the displeasure of Roy.
  10. Wild up on the Avs in Colorado 2-0 in the 3rd. Erik Johnson got a major and tossed for an elbow to the head of Erik Haula kinda looks like Roys biggest adjustment from Thursday to tonight was for the Avs to take as many runs at Wild players as they can.
  11. I thought they both looked pretty solid Olson delivered some big hits and created a some turnovers that lead to chances. Poolman was pretty smooth jumped up in the play at times but mostly made good simple plays. I expect to see guys like Poolman, Olson, and the rest of the freshmen get better adjusted to the speed of the game over these next few weeks and when that happens a couple could be real difference makers.
  12. Some thoughts on tonights game: -Glad we don't have to deal with WCHA officials throughout the year thought they were bad tonight both ways. -Zane was solid as usually is the case. -Much better compete level tonight but still inconsistent at times and too many easy giveaways. -Liked how everyone who stepped into the lineup tonight played pretty solid. Really liked the physicality that Olson brought tonight and think we need that added skill set to our forward group every game. -Continue to be impressed with the improvements Ausmus has made to his game over the summer. -Lot of things to work on going forward but always good to get a win on the road.

  14. I would also add that I believe Hak puts a lot of responsibility on the captains in making sure the team is ready to go. I really didn't think we would have one of these no compete games especially in the season opener with a guy like Pattyn as a captain. IMO a lot of making sure the team is ready to play is on the upperclassmen and leadership as well as the staff.
  15. Yeah I could see those two being swapped, if there were more choices I probably would have had them both out. Chyzk made more happen but also had more mistakes and some real bad turnovers, didn't see a whole lot of mistakes from Poganski but he didn't make much of anything happen either.
  16. I would think we see lots of changes in the lineup tomorrow here is my guess: Caggiula-MacMillan-Schmaltz Simonson-Johnson-Parks Pattyn-Gaarder-Panzarella Olson-St.Clair-Poganski Thompson-Schmaltz Mattson-LaDue Ausmus-Poolman McIntyre
  17. Just an ugly and very sloppy performance with very little if any positives to take away for UND. Tonight wasn't about coaching or systems or any of that it was all about effort. BSU just outworked and outhustled UND right from the drop of the puck and won almost all the individual battles. Moving forward to tomorrow I would be surprised to see most if not all the scratches from tonight in the lineup. Hak should have no shortage of guys to choose from to yank out of the lineup including some guys who have played a number of games for UND like Stecher, OD, Gaarder, and Chyzk as well as guys who haven't played as much like Murphy and Sanderson.
  18. Wow a full post that people can actually read and understand.
  19. Really a pathetic first 2 periods of the season. Losing almost every individual battle out there and getting beat to a lot of lose pucks would be great if anyone started to skate sometime soon. One of the worst parts as you expect upper classmen to set the tone and a couple of them have looked like the most lazy players on the ice tonight and just making stupid plays. Zane has been hung out to dry a number of times and made some good saves to not let it get any worse. Would love to see a comeback in this 3rd period but right now I'm just looking for guys who deserve to dress tomorrow night because so far I can't name too many.
  20. He was the Canadian who came in from Fort Frances, Ontario. Kobe Roth was the recruit brought to Warroad from Iowa and he committed to UMD at the same time as Bethune. Bethune had been playing for Lincoln in the USHL and was gonna play there before and after the high school season but apparently there was some sort of falling out in Lincoln and he returned to Warroad and decided the WHL was his next move according to Chris Dilks story. http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/2014/10/10/6959549/jared-bethune-signs-with-whl-prince-george-cougars-minnesota-duluth-commit-lincoln-stars-ushl
  21. Minnesota-Duluth commit and former Sioux target Jared Bethune from Warroad via Fort Frances,ON signed with Prince George of the WHL.

  24. If you are looking to pass some time today with more college hockey it looks like there is a free feed of the Minnesota and Duluth game that starts at 1. http://watchnd.tv/#!/shows/Ice_Breaker_Tournament/1857915
  25. I don't mind the greens at all the Wild look very good tonight the Parise/Granlund/Pominville line has been in complete control whenever they are on the ice. As for Colorado they look like they still think this is some preseason throw away game. 5-0 after 2 and 5 different goal scorers 38-13 on the shots.
