For the MVC, there are 3 schools more appetizing location-wise than NDSU and that doesn't take Denver into account. And at this point I don't see the MVC expanding unless Creighton leaves (wonder how they could keep the Omaha market if that were to happen?). Wonder if Denver has a large buyout? They may be rethinking their joining of the Summit.

Is it possible UND is giving him a scholarship and he will spend the next year getting eligible? Not sure if that would prevent UND from talking about it but if academics is the issue maybe that is the case? Or is it not possible to give him a scholarship if he doesn't play/redshirt right away? I know other schools including NDSU has had luck doing this in the past (Williams/Crockett) but don't know the details on the scholarships were handled.

Maybe they don't have their 63 scholarships split up between 85 players giving their more room for walk-ons? Not sure.

Class looks great on paper (doesn't it always!). Hopefully we see some early results from this class. Excited for the signing day party tonight, hopefully there is a good turnout.

It is Wharton. Recruited as a LB.

Wonder if that was the call Muss got during his portion of the live chat. Glad to see we haven't had any last minute switches go against us.

Disterhaupt has signed putting the total signed at 20. Who are we still waiting for? Gray (will he/won't he?) and maybe a surprise or two from the west coast?

It looks like the majority of the club level and upper deck seats are sold but there are quite a few left in the lower level (expensive and poor sight line) and GA (outfield and long way from the ice).

Expect to see Carr's NLI very soon. Edit: Carr is in!

Their chips are excellent.

Husker Mike's blog has been following the ice and rink building and has some pictures. Looks like I will be somewhat happy with my seats in 219.

I would rather there be multiple options of places to eat and stay around the Alerus and have a parking crunch a few times a year rather than have an over abundance of spots that sit empty for 360 days a year and no place for other businesses. You can't have both. Space is limited and having a private business in those spaces is much more beneficial than a parking spot. 4,200 parking spots for a building the size of the Alerus is sufficient. I don't believe that takes into account the Canad or the Sleep Inn parking as well. There are multiple shuttles that run from campus on game days and I would assume concerts/other events as well. As for parking around the Alerus Center, the streets to the east are already being used, so it can be done, very similar to how it is done at the Ralph, though on a more limited basis.

Our lack of depth down low did us in last night. Great seeing Brekke back last night, hopefully he can get into game shape quick. Weber also hit key shots to kill any momentum UND was getting on more than one occasion. I didn't see this broken hoop that you guys are talking about? They definitely need to put in a four-sided video board above center court.

Article on Mr. Schwarzkopf He decided to join the track & field team also and is doing well in the shot put.

It should also be pointed out that scholarships can and in a lot of cases eventually are earned by the student-athlete. Neither arrive on campus with a scholarship for athletics though.

Headed over tonight. I've heard a little buzz, but not too much. I don't think the weather is doing any favors.

I assumed yes, but haven't saw anything either way. Secondary question, will it matter? How much alcohol will be snuck into the TD Ameritrade with all those people in multiple layers of clothes?

Does a professor still not teach you class, have to look at your quiz, input grades, etc? And I'm not talking overall costs to run an institution, I'm asking about credit by credit comparisons on online vs in class. Interesting point. For larger classes, which are usually lower level classes, I believe that their is an economies of scale for teaching and it can be cheaper, especially since a GA or TA teaches a lot of those. When the classes get to be higher level and class sizes are smaller, along with the professor making more than a GA or TA, that is lost. Also, there are often expenses related to the cost of providing an online education that aren't often used when looking at the cost comparison such as the online infrastructure, software, hardware, etc needed to be able to provide it. I've saw a few different studies on it and haven't come up with a real good conclusion other than it is actually a lot closer than people think, though the amount varies from school to school.

If you've ever attended a luncheon, Hak is always very candid both with his remarks and his answers to any and all questions. In interviews, does he brush some questions off? Of course, but I think overall he answers questions pretty directly.

Curious if either of you want to expand on the difference in costs and how exactly they are much different, outside of the obvious buildings/classrooms/etc, the majority of which are already in place and don't play into the equation?
-
Exactly. My comment was more in jest and I probably should have prefaced it with that. Different programs cost different amounts to run. Different campuses have different needs and expenses. But the reason that people keep giving that they should be funded equally is "Because". I'd like to see the reason for the need. Someone shouldn't get more or less money because someone else does. As it stands, I think that all schools across the state get too much funding and there is too much overhead/administration.

Because.

The ice can be maintained up to an air temperature of 70 degrees.

Here's an article giving a little update and some other random information. Group of 5 headed down Friday, meeting quite a few others. Should be a good time.

According to those fans, UND isn't relevant and hockey is even less so. How can they demand equal coverage (good or bad) if what they are saying is true?
