  1. Neither time nor money are unlimited. Haven't you said that is why you can't make it to every football game? I'm not saying I agree with people's reasoning or that I don't wish attendance was higher but people have been speaking with their wallets. UND has not put a product on the field they are willing to fill the Alerus for. The hockey team on the other hand, has been successful for an extended period of time and demand for tickets at the Ralph reflect that. I have faith that it can be done again with the football team, but it will take some good marketing from UND and continued success from the team. People missed out on an exciting team last year even if they were only 5-6. The buzz needs to build back up around the football program. Grand Forks loves a winner and this team hasn't been doing that against what people deem to be quality competition enough to justify them to come to the games. I think there will be a noticeable bump this year with the home schedule, but the team needs to be competitive and win.
  2. Midco is still doing every game whether it is on CBSSN or not correct? Not so certain that CBSSN would be sending their own equipment if they can pick up Midco's HD feed. I could be wrong though.
  3. Per UNDSports.com: Aug 29th vs Valpo is Military Appreciation Sept 7th vs SDSU is the Potato Bowl Sept 14th vs UM is the Hall of Fame Game Sept 28th vs MSU is Family Weekend Oct 12th vs EWU is Homecoming Oct 19th vs Sac St is ND Strong/Band Day (??) Nov 9th vs UNC is Senior Day Also shows updated pricing on seats.
  4. I have nothing to disprove your Lincoln numbers but there seems to be something missing. I feel confident that your numbers for UND have a lot of noise in them though.
  5. I've seen the report these numbers come from (but have been unable to find it the last few times I've looked for it). The cost allocation has no rhyme or reason to it, it is a numbers game used for the reporting. I believe the same report shows NDSU's football team breaks even. I am still curious on the source that says the Lincoln stars make $2MM with an average attendance of 4K or so (30 home games, 120K in total attendance). UND has twice as many fans coming through the doors averaging 11K+ (20-22 home games, total attendance of 240K+) with more expensive tickets. Revenues on the UND side are much higher. I'm sure expenses are as well, but good luck finding accurate and publicly available numbers for either.
  6. I can confirm there is beer still available in Watertown, just got back from getting some provisions. Snow is getting heavier.
  7. Made it to Watertown. Only a few suites left at the Holiday Inn Express. Rooms available at some other places still.
  8. What good places would those be? NDSU is in no one geographical footprint.
  9. For the MVC, there are 3 schools more appetizing location-wise than NDSU and that doesn't take Denver into account. And at this point I don't see the MVC expanding unless Creighton leaves (wonder how they could keep the Omaha market if that were to happen?). Wonder if Denver has a large buyout? They may be rethinking their joining of the Summit.
  10. Is it possible UND is giving him a scholarship and he will spend the next year getting eligible? Not sure if that would prevent UND from talking about it but if academics is the issue maybe that is the case? Or is it not possible to give him a scholarship if he doesn't play/redshirt right away? I know other schools including NDSU has had luck doing this in the past (Williams/Crockett) but don't know the details on the scholarships were handled.
  11. Maybe they don't have their 63 scholarships split up between 85 players giving their more room for walk-ons? Not sure.
  12. Class looks great on paper (doesn't it always!). Hopefully we see some early results from this class. Excited for the signing day party tonight, hopefully there is a good turnout.
  13. It is Wharton. Recruited as a LB.
  14. Wonder if that was the call Muss got during his portion of the live chat. Glad to see we haven't had any last minute switches go against us.
  15. Disterhaupt has signed putting the total signed at 20. Who are we still waiting for? Gray (will he/won't he?) and maybe a surprise or two from the west coast?
  16. It looks like the majority of the club level and upper deck seats are sold but there are quite a few left in the lower level (expensive and poor sight line) and GA (outfield and long way from the ice).
  17. Expect to see Carr's NLI very soon. Edit: Carr is in!
  18. Husker Mike's blog has been following the ice and rink building and has some pictures. Looks like I will be somewhat happy with my seats in 219.
  19. I would rather there be multiple options of places to eat and stay around the Alerus and have a parking crunch a few times a year rather than have an over abundance of spots that sit empty for 360 days a year and no place for other businesses. You can't have both. Space is limited and having a private business in those spaces is much more beneficial than a parking spot. 4,200 parking spots for a building the size of the Alerus is sufficient. I don't believe that takes into account the Canad or the Sleep Inn parking as well. There are multiple shuttles that run from campus on game days and I would assume concerts/other events as well. As for parking around the Alerus Center, the streets to the east are already being used, so it can be done, very similar to how it is done at the Ralph, though on a more limited basis.
  20. Our lack of depth down low did us in last night. Great seeing Brekke back last night, hopefully he can get into game shape quick. Weber also hit key shots to kill any momentum UND was getting on more than one occasion. I didn't see this broken hoop that you guys are talking about? They definitely need to put in a four-sided video board above center court.
  21. Article on Mr. Schwarzkopf He decided to join the track & field team also and is doing well in the shot put.
  22. It should also be pointed out that scholarships can and in a lot of cases eventually are earned by the student-athlete. Neither arrive on campus with a scholarship for athletics though.
  23. Headed over tonight. I've heard a little buzz, but not too much. I don't think the weather is doing any favors.
