Definitely didn't need any sort of fancy formula to tell me that UND has been all over the map. 4 Big Sky teams in the top 17, all of which are in the conference tournament. I agree on the parity part but a lot of the inconsistency comes from the OOC play, beating some decent teams and then laying an absolute egg to some pretty bad ones.
-
Not sure where to put this, so it is going here. Report from Pro Day down in Fargo: Eric Peterson‏ @FargoBigE 23m UND WR Greg Hardin ran in low 4.4s in the 40.

Literally right next to each other with a nice plaza outside of right field at Target Field.

Out of the 13 teams that have punched their tickets, the two lowest RPI's are Coastal Carolina (195) and Mount St. Mary's (192). UND was ranked near there until losing to SUU and now currently sit at 224. Still a handful of the smaller conferences auto-bids out there, but would take some upsets to bump UND out of a potentail "First Four" game if they were to win the Big Sky tournament. At this point, not much UND can do about it except make the best of the hand they dealt themselves this year. I doubt the players and coaching staff are concerned about what will happen if they win the Big Sky tournament other than being excited that they are going to the Big Dance. 3 wins to go and UND has just as good of chance as any of the 7 teams fighting for it.

He also has only 3 losing seasons in 8 seasons.

Check your facts. Nash was in the game at the end.

Two conference tournaments and 3 post season appearances. Can you tell me what point you are trying to make? Are you comparing Jones to Brewster? Or are you comparing the men's team to a different program in the conference? Your argument moves around so much that I'm not sure where you are going with it.
-
I didn't say anything one way or another. Since Jones' record had been put out there and we are apparently comparing the men's and women's teams, just though Brewster's record should also be shown. And Brewster has been on staff since 2008-2009 and was in charge of recruiting while Roebuck was here. Don't try to pretend he had nothing to do with the roster make-up before he became head coach. It was no secret that he was going to be the one to replace Gene and he was given responsibilities in line with that.
-
Travis Brewster is 21-19 in the Big Sky and 31-27 overall.
-
You are correct, blanked on that for some reason. On another note, Weber hasn't won the conference tournament and went dancing since 2007, which was their current coach's first year. Talk about a cold streak for a school who puts that much emphasis on basketball. Yet oddly enough, I don't see a "Fire Rahe" thread on their message board, or at least one with any current activity.

Third Fourth Fifth times a charm?

Feel free to point out where I previously stated anything along those lines. But since you brought it up, in 2011 and 2012, it was all the team had to play for and they earned an auto-bid both years, so yeah, I was proud that those teams achieved that goal. Not sure how you wanted them to earn something that wasn't available? Last year, the team finished higher than any first year team in the Big Sky had previously and took the eventual champions to the wire in the semi's. Would have loved to see them pull off the upset and take on Montana in the championship game, but Weber was a better team. UND's performance was recognized with a bid to a postseason tournament, seems a lot better than the alternative of sitting at home.
-
You are using that word quite liberally by using it to describe some of his arguments. No one is denying last night's game was unacceptable, but some people need to take a step back and fight the urge to run to their computer to demand someone lose their job everytime they see a result they don't like.
-
So because you said the women could beat the men, it proves they are horrible? The men finished 3rd for the second year in a row, you make it sound like they finished dead last. In conference play, the women were 6-4 on the road and the men were 4-6, not exactly the huge disparity you are trying to make it out to be.
-
Yeah, you sound genuinely curious....
-
From how excited you get to bump this thread, I have a hard time figuring out what is and isn't sarcastic. And yes, I guess if we are looking at one year periods, the women are outperforming the men. But I guess that means Brewster should have been fired last year since the men outperformed the women? One has very little to do with the other. Jones won the tournament the last two years in the GWC, so there are two conference tournament championships you are leaving out. Yeah, they were in the Great West, but guess at that point, I'm not sure what other tournament you are going to argue they could win. I guess if we are looking at what he has done in the Big Sky, he's 0-2 in regular season titles (with two 3rd place finishes) and currently 0-1 in post-season titles (losing to the eventually champs in the semi's).
-
We all do. And I don't know how much longer Jones will be employed but if you think that the ultimatum next year is to win the BSC tourney or be fired with what will be two years remaining on his contract, you are wrong (unless of course you plan on writing a check to make it happen, then be all means, speculate away). There is a lot more that will play into it than that. In fact, with what UND is losing after this year and what some of the other teams are returning, going dancing next year would be a pretty amazing feat. I rest my case about you being delusional. And what about last year, did Brewster not know how to control his players?
-
You are delusional if you think that.
-
He'll have to be a contributer next year. I've think his strength will always be on the defensive end and he has the ability to guard guys bigger than him which helps. Be nice if he could develop a corner 3 shot or something along those lines.
-
Guessing he'll hear about it while sitting next to his pool in Arizona.
-
I didn't get to see the first half and part of the second half, did we revert back to playground ball instead of a team game? I know you aren't going to win many games shooting 36% and going 2-19 from 3 while the opposing team shoots over 50%. I'm guessing Jones was trying to send some sort of message with Hobaugh in there the last couple of minutes and some of the starters on the bench. Hopefully it clicks or alot of these guys only have one game left in their career at UND.
