  1. The extension Jones signed last summer brought his salary to $100k this past season, so he is not well below that mark. He's obviously fairly paid at this point otherwise he would have bolted, paying him more isn't going to all of the sudden make him a better coach. I'd expect he'd get a raise, rightfully so, if UND made a trip to the NCAA tournament. He has a lot of proving to do over the next two seasons to show what kind of coach he is, especially now that he has had a few years to recruit the players he wants with no obstacles put in his way. If Jones leaves or is let go, I fully expect Faison will allocate the proper funds to hire a new head coach as he has done in the past. USD had no choice to pay Craig Smith what they did, they made a great higher and he accepted a slight paycut to come there. No clue why NDSU game Richman the salary they did, seems high for the experience he has. He wanted the job, has been at NDSU his entire career except for one year at NDSCS and never been a head coach. Smith from USD has coached in the B1G, the MWC and has head coaching experience, including being national coach of the year in the NAIA. Congrats to him for getting it though. I will add the caveat that it is tough to use USD and SDSU's salaries as comparisons as they are only one year deals. If things go south, they don't have to be concerned about a buyout situation.
  2. The jury on Jones is still out for me but he is 2-2 against Saul and has won the two most recent recruiting battles against NDSU that I'm aware of. Not sure how you can already have an opinion on Bubba, but whatever floats your boat.
  3. The extension he signed in August was for a base of $175K for this season not including bonuses.
  4. And it was pretty accurate after Woodside and Co graduated. Took a brand new class to be seniors before they were able to get back to the same spot. 2009-2010 - First Round loss 2010-2011 - First Round loss 2011-2012 - First Round loss 2012-2013 - Lost in Championship game 2013-2014 - Won Championship
  5. You have an interesting way of winning arguments.
  6. Those ROI numbers are based off of 636 individuals for NDSU and 477 individuals for UND over an unnamed period of time, all of which are self-reported, not actively collected by the website. Not that either the Forum or Herald took time to look too deep into the numbers, but I would hardly put much stock into numbers that small. Their total sample size represents well under 20% of what UND graduates in a single year, yet their "study" is based on what people will/have made over a 20 year time frame. Again, not a real strong sample size. Their site is what it is, but the idea of using a site no one has ever heard of to claim a school is better than the other is no better than claiming the one other is better because a magazine article said it's more influential.
  7. No. I think they both were pretty pointless. But seeing FU fans throw a fit about a pretty random article by Time magazine and saying it was meaningless and then work themselves into a frenzy from the chest thumping based off a website pretty much no one had heard of until this is amusing
  8. Well except for the part where he was on the cusp of a fairly serious NCAA violation, seemed like a solid plan. Guessing the coaching staff and GT were thrilled when they heard about it.
  9. Wait, so using random internet sites that use random methodology to compare things is OK now? Wasn't it just last week that the FU faithful were up in arms about that being ridiculous?
  10. When's the last time GT paid a quality team to come to Fargo?
  11. Practice cancelled for the day.
  12. There you go ruining another "fact" filled FU rant.
  13. Sure is a lot of it on the FU message board considering it involves a school that is irrelevant playing a niche sport.
  14. Continues to throw !@#$ against the wall so he can claim he called out it was reverse psychology when he's wrong.
  15. I don't think the Stockwell thing is a surprise, unless its something new. I thought he had surgery a while back. Hadn't heard anything about Cary though.
  16. Congrats to Troy. Show them what you're made of, make UND proud.
  17. Anytime women's athletics gets put down...its usually by someone not doing so hot in them.
  18. I got it to work, but the stream isn't HD quality by any means. Edit: Closed a few other things I was doing and the quality increased quite a bit. Turns out it was on my end...
  19. The Alumni Association or Champions Club have not released anything new that I've seen outside of the normal list they have. Somewhat disappointed in that.
  20. Wait, so the FU rubes are up in arms (apparently quite a bit) about some random methodology that says UND is more influential so you counter it with a different set of findings using another random methodology and that somehow that says it all? The logic behind that is brilliant, though I'm not sure how brilliant quite yet but I'm sure I can find some random formula online somewhere that proves it is.
  21. Prefer the 1-3pm games. Get some quality tailgating in during the morning, but don't have to get up too early. Still have the ability to get some stuff done later in the day after the game.
  22. Not sure I understand your first sentence, Division 2 was a sinking ship. Geography is important, but obstacles can be overcome if you can bring something else, such as a large TV market. The jump from Division 2 to FCS is quite a bit different than the jump from FCS to FBS. I do agree with the majority of the rest of your point though, but FCS may be trending the way Division 2 was. Too much uncertainty right now to know exactly what is going to happen next. Staying the course but having multiple action plans ready to go should be on every AD's mind.
