Guessing the good one you're talkinga bout is UMass transfer Stacey Bedell. They also have former Iowa running back Marcus Coker who is coming off an injury last year. Made waves in the B1G while he was at Iowa for two years, he has some talent as well. Sounds like the RB situation will look more like the last quarter of the game the MSU game than the half. Finally going to see what a 220lb+ running back looks like. Rudolph also made it very clear that there is no QB controversy, Mollberg is the guy. Also sounds like Reyes will be back to help anchor the secondary. Good week for him to come back to help provide some run support.

2-deep changes for the week: Offense Cerriteno listed as back-up WR at the Z position Mathewson replaces Ruhe as back-up TE (Ruhe out for year) Garman still listed as #1 RB, Shaugabay at the #2 spot Defense Only 2 NG and RDE listed - last week 3 were listed at each with Walker and Cheatom being listed at the #2 spot respectively. Neither is listed this week Hinojosa listed as starting NG (injured last week) Reyes not listed at all, still hoping he is back for the game Special Teams Freshman Holmen takes over starting long-snapping duties McGill #2 PR taking Edmunds spot Walker #2 KR taking Tillman's spot

UND and other schools in the area that don't play at the top level have a much higher attrition rate with players not from the Midwest or in their general recruiting footprint. It is a fair amount of culture shock and what can be brutal winters on top of being a long, long way from home. Not saying that UND shouldn't look at kids from outside that area, they definitely do. And I'm guessing they will continue to take a few kids outside of the normal recruiting footprint, but it has just been shown again and again that their is a much higher attrition rate when you go outside that area. For a program that is severely lacking depth, rolling the dice on too many players that have a higher chance of leaving isn't going to help right the ship.

While no where even in the top 5 or 10 on list of issues, it sure seems like this team has been seriously snake bitten the last few years on injuries. This year its been Carr (1 game), Reyes (2 games and counting), Hinojosa (1 game so far), Simmons (1 game and counting) and now Ruhe for the year. And I know I'm missing one or two. Sounds like they are hoping Reyes and Hinojosa will be back this weekend. On a team that is sorely lacking depth, having starters missing games is especially devastating. It is actually 30% of games. He's already used up his redshirt year and he's in year 2 of 5 (for the NCAA eligibility clock). The only way he'd likely be granted a 6th year is if he were to lose a second year to injury.

Who said anything about skin color or that what he did isn't abuse? Just thought it was worth pointing out that the first grand jury dismissed it while the second brought charges and curious if there was any difference between what was presented to them. Edit - Apparently the original report was incorrect and there the first grand jury indicted him. Disregard my original curiosity. I had not seen an article retracting the original report. Thanks for the clarification.

Just want to point out that the first grand jury dismissed it. The prosecutor had to take it to a second grand jury before he was charged. Have not saw anything that clarifies if they had more evidence or why the second one charged him while the first didn't. No clue if anything changed but throws another twist into the whole mess.

He must have been hearing similar comments on how its coming across because it was kind of odd that he made a point to directly address it. Again, no disagreements that out of context or by itself, it looks like they aren't real concerned how the season ends, which is pretty far from the truth.

Mussman was let go on November 18. Bubba was hired December 24. One week beyond the required 30 day posting period. I'm not a fan of the scoreboard thing but Bubba did directly address it at the luncheon a couple weeks ago and how it was being misunderstood. His said his point with the phrase is that he wants people to be able to watch the team and not know whether they are up 20 or down 20 (or 30 or 40.....) and not that they don't care whether they win or lose, because they do. He wants the team to give the same effort regardless of what the scoreboard says. The same can definitely not be said of the past few years, the second the team got down, they folded, outside of the USD game in 2011 I guess. No disagreement from me that if they turn in another performance or two like they did this past weekend, you can come up with all the clichés you want, but people aren't going to show up. The effort thing was just the cherry on top of watching the team getting run out of their own building the past few years, they need to be competitive or the crowds won't show.

Go Bisons! I was going to make a joke about their big game against Regina last night and then found out that the University of Manitoba's athletic website is http://www.gobisons.ca/ Looks like FU is already blocked from going international, at least to the north.

Heart says 27-24 UND. Head says 31-17 MSU.

UND will get an allotment and they will be distributed based request sorted by Priority Points. No clue how many it will be, but the place only holds 5,000 and tickets are held back for the other 3 schools as well. There will be a fair amount of tickets that go on sale to the general public this fall but I haven't seen an exact date. Going to be a tough ticket to get.

Not sure why they don't do a home/home for every sport outside of football. Both basketball teams have hard time getting quality home games. Would be better than the D-II/D-III/NAIA home games that litter both schedules.
-
It would only be adding a trip to Grand Forks every other year. It also gets them an extra home game against a D-1 school who happens to fill their gym when they play every year instead of every other year. Seems to make sense to me.

Definitely a step in the right direction:

You are mistaken. Garman has been listed as the starter the previous two games though Simmons ended up with more carries both games. Hopefully Shaugabuy has enough of an understanding of pass blocking and other responsibilities for the coaches to give him extended time on Saturday. I'm guessing he does but I can't think of any other reason that the coaching staff hasn't put him out there more.

The quotes from NDSU's coach and players in the article Caillou wrote sure contradict that. Not to mention that beating UND was specifically mentioned as one of their top couple goals for the year in their season preview. #buttsuperbowl You're a special kind of stupid aren't you?

Christmas present for MafiaMan?

Jer Garman listed as the starting RB with Shaugabay as the backup. Casey Young no longer listed on the 2-deep, Dev Ferguson instead listed as the backup at two different WR positions. Shea Walker returns and is listed as backup NG. Cole Reyes not listed at all. Carr and James listed as starters at the safety position.

Not sure anyone counts cross country scores as an actual team sport, but if you really want to, you might want to recheck that women's cross country score.... And I feel pretty confident the overall scoreboard will be even after tonight (using the actual results, not the incorrect ones someone posts on a message board).

Only in the Football forum though.

Why was it that they couldn't win when the playing field was level? NDSU was not at any disadvantage compared to other schools. So why were scholarship limits that applied the same to everybody an excuse only for them?
-
I guess people using the excuse that their team couldn't win because all of the teams had the same number of scholarships (level playing field) has always been a strange argument that I wouldn't personally make.
