Not much for changes on the 2-deep this week: Norberg listed as #2 RB behind Garman, Shaugabay removed Reyes listed as #1 SS, Carr to #2 and Dillon Olson removed Deion Harris listed as #2 RCB replacing Maverick Edmunds
-
Respectfully disagree. UND had 98 yards rushing in the 1st quarter and 131 yards at the half. UND only had 34 yards rushing in the second half, including negative 3 in the 4th quarter.

The effort both on and off the field was a world of difference than what I saw the last year or two.
-
Incorrect on that. Bubba's comments about not caring about the scoreboard have nothing to do with winning or losing. It is a reference to the effort he wants to see from the team and that they are playing with 100% regardless of the scoreboard. Clearly something that has been lacking the last few years. He specifically made a point to address it as it has been misunderstood multiple times.

Seems like Iowa Preps tweet indicated he was one of the 4 top 10 uncommitted recruits which doesn't seem to mesh with him appearing only on their top 150 list. Prep Hoops Iowa listed him as the #41 player in Iowa. Both of those seem little odd, especially for a 6'4" shooter. Here's a short article on his commitment. Iowa Preps had Seales as a top 10 recruit overall. Regardless, recruiting rankings don't mean much, glad to have them both on the team!

Kind of cherry picking on that. UND was one loss away in one very specific game (first round of the Big Sky tournament vs. Portland State) in order to not have a record that would have got them in to the CIT. If they would have lost that game, even with a better record, I doubt they get invited anyway. And highly doubt that making sure they ended the tournament with a .500 record or better was anywhere near the coach's or team's mind at the time. The team was focused on winning the Big Sky tournament and getting into the NCAA tournament, they ran out of gas and players.

Viewing options for Sioux hockey games this season

I didn't think FCS carried any games in year 1 of Midco's contract but looking back at the schedule confirms that you are correct and they were. My mistake on that part. -

In terms of revenue, in 2012 Midcontinent signed a deal and is now producing games and paying UND $1 million over 5 years when previously UND was producing the games and not getting paid. This caused part of the problem from UND not being on FCS anymore. In 2013, Midcontinent reached a deal with FCS last year to telecast select UND sporting events but the NCHC CBS deal prevented the men's hockey from being shown on FCS. The athletic department and NCHC have continued to work to improve it and from all indications, it looks like they have and there will be games available on FCS again. Should be best of both world's: UND getting paid by Midcontinent, games being broadcast locally on Midco and nationally on FCS along with the streaming package being sold by UND/NCHC. -

Wisconsin tickets on sale this morning. -
That's a lot of scoring in a short time period. Edit: Also a why I think something like that would be shortened to Nokes unofficially, you are correct both are handful to say.

Really starting to like Nokotas / Nokes. It's unique and has ND ties. Lot of possibilities with a logo, though the logo wouldn't end up being as unique as the name.

It is. #factcheck -
Hopefully after watching last week's game film, Montana State's Defensive Coordinator just assumes the only play left in UND's playbook is a dive play up the middle and takes the week off. Not sure it will be enough, but it is a good start.

McDermott had D-1 offers from UNC, Eastern Illinois and American U. Glad to see UND bring on a good shooter with some size. After McDermott committed, Iowa Preps tweeted: Referring to Cortez Seales, who retweeted it. PG from Iowa, he has offers from LaSalle, Drake, WKU, UNI and Bowling Green.

Hopefully they update the cell phone data capabilities/capacity in the Ralph so it actually works and people can use all the functions built into it. -
The real question is was FSU's AD near tears when he announced it?
-
Coker is more than capable of carrying the load. Sounds like they have 4 backs who have played meaningful minutes this year and UND had prepared for all of them.

Guessing the good one you're talkinga bout is UMass transfer Stacey Bedell. They also have former Iowa running back Marcus Coker who is coming off an injury last year. Made waves in the B1G while he was at Iowa for two years, he has some talent as well. Sounds like the RB situation will look more like the last quarter of the game the MSU game than the half. Finally going to see what a 220lb+ running back looks like. Rudolph also made it very clear that there is no QB controversy, Mollberg is the guy. Also sounds like Reyes will be back to help anchor the secondary. Good week for him to come back to help provide some run support.

2-deep changes for the week: Offense Cerriteno listed as back-up WR at the Z position Mathewson replaces Ruhe as back-up TE (Ruhe out for year) Garman still listed as #1 RB, Shaugabay at the #2 spot Defense Only 2 NG and RDE listed - last week 3 were listed at each with Walker and Cheatom being listed at the #2 spot respectively. Neither is listed this week Hinojosa listed as starting NG (injured last week) Reyes not listed at all, still hoping he is back for the game Special Teams Freshman Holmen takes over starting long-snapping duties McGill #2 PR taking Edmunds spot Walker #2 KR taking Tillman's spot

UND and other schools in the area that don't play at the top level have a much higher attrition rate with players not from the Midwest or in their general recruiting footprint. It is a fair amount of culture shock and what can be brutal winters on top of being a long, long way from home. Not saying that UND shouldn't look at kids from outside that area, they definitely do. And I'm guessing they will continue to take a few kids outside of the normal recruiting footprint, but it has just been shown again and again that their is a much higher attrition rate when you go outside that area. For a program that is severely lacking depth, rolling the dice on too many players that have a higher chance of leaving isn't going to help right the ship.

While no where even in the top 5 or 10 on list of issues, it sure seems like this team has been seriously snake bitten the last few years on injuries. This year its been Carr (1 game), Reyes (2 games and counting), Hinojosa (1 game so far), Simmons (1 game and counting) and now Ruhe for the year. And I know I'm missing one or two. Sounds like they are hoping Reyes and Hinojosa will be back this weekend. On a team that is sorely lacking depth, having starters missing games is especially devastating. It is actually 30% of games. He's already used up his redshirt year and he's in year 2 of 5 (for the NCAA eligibility clock). The only way he'd likely be granted a 6th year is if he were to lose a second year to injury.
