UND continue to recruit Iowa hard though not real surprising with the ties Jones and Horner have to the state. Wonder how much of an effect Ahelegbe going to USD will have on Minnesota recruiting overall.

I meant it a little tongue in cheek. Definitely is a professional and looks out for what is best for his student athletes first but I'd guess deep down inside, it has to give him a little pain. Nothing terribly reliable, but I heard he was quite high on Lawrence and was disappointed he didn't end up across the river instead of up it 75 miles.

Who is by no means a fan of UND...
-
South Carolina is definitely closer to Fargo than Florida but I guess it only takes making the playoffs once since 2006 to be considered a good program? Or maybe its their record of 25-34 over the last 5 years. Interesting definition I guess.

So what you're saying is you're going to keep it as vague as you can because you're just trolling. The numbers are what they are, but keep moving the goal posts. Can you name which offenses UND played against that played the spread? NDSU gave up 66, 68 and 99 to Weber, Montana and Missouri State respectively. UND gave up 41, 42 and 235 to those same three. The Missouri State game has already been discussed and was a train wreck in multiple different ways. UND held the other two to less yards rushing than NDSU did. Where are the goal posts off to now?

Since you're so good citing stats when they are convenient for you, surprised you didn't take the time to look it up. Big Sky as a whole averaged 177.38 yard/game rushing (4.63 yard/carry). MVFC as a whole averaged 176.33 (4.62 yard/carry). As long as we're touching on it, as a whole, UND's opponents averaged 156 yards rushing per game on the season. UND gave up an average of 91 yards rushing per game, holding 10 out of 12 opponents below their season average. NDSU's opponents averaged 152 yards rushing per game on the season. NDSU gave up an average of 109, holding 10 of 12 below their season average (regular season only).

I'm not sure what the deal with USD is. UNO is in a good location and can be a little more choosy than everyone else, they have had a pretty solid schedule the last few years. Don't know why SDSU fell off this year?

Per SFI: It appears Winnipeg recruit Zack Williams will not be joining the team this fall.

Did you manage to get in every cliché and/or talking point the mensa club has? At least try to come up with something original instead of repeating the same old song and dance. You'd think between the whole collective of the 2011 Bison Alumni, at least someone could come up with something original...

Not sure he'd need the lighter fluid, the Fargo Loafpan would most definitely already be engulfed in flames by that point. But I like the rest of the idea.
-
I'm sure NDSU is exempt from all this though correct?
-
Last I saw, they were projected to lose 11 starters, 7 on defense, 4 on offense, not to mention a pretty good kicker.

I know following along must be tough for you but I didn't jump from talking about the UM/NDSU and UM/UND games to talking about the whole season. I'll help you out though: Against NDSU, UM ran 48 plays for 256 yards for an average of 5.3 yards per play. Against UND, UM ran 69 plays for 279 yards for an average of 4.0 yards per play. 5.3 yards per play is more than 4.0 yards per play, meaning UND gave up less yards per play against UM than NDSU did. And JJ had led Montana to a whopping 0 points before he was knocked out of the game halfway through the 2nd I'll agree, I considered the points fairly close being its basically a touchdown. I also dislike comparative scoring but I was tired of seeing the Missouri St comparison without a single mention of the Montana one. Different teams match up better or worse against different opponents.
-
You keep bringing up the Missouri State game but fail to mention the other common opponent the two teams had last year (Montana) where UND's "middle of the road" defense held UM to 279 yards and 18 points just two weeks after the Greatest Defense that Ever Played © held UM to a very similar 256 yards and 10 points. And if you really want to dig down on it, UND gave up 4.0 yards per play vs. 5.3 for NDSU.
-
I hope NDSU's team has the same thoughts. Lot of holes to be filled on the defensive side for NDSU, especially up the middle.

It was an extension in name only, he was under the Twins control through 2018 with or without the extension, he just doesn't have to go to arbitration now. Not like they were going to be bidding against anyone. Its absolutely mind-blowing the Twins didn't include at least one or two years of team option beyond his arbitration years which is almost always the trade-off for giving a player the guaranteed money through their arbitration years. Hell of a deal for Dozier. All the Twins got out of it was knowing exactly what they will be paying him through 2018, nothing more, nothing less.
-
I believe they removed them from Phase 1 but if funding comes up, they are able to add them before Phase 2 begins. This UND release says 196,500 but I've seen a few other numbers released since than as well.

How did you ever survive the mean things they said about the Fighting Sioux nickname? What does that have to do with the "no nickname" crowd continually tossing around that the claim that a large majority doesn't want a nickname with absolutely nothing to back it up? I don't disagree on what your saying, it was (as I clearly stated) unscientific and who knows how accurate. But those championing Rob Port's article and talking points using the same polls to claim that "no nickname" is supposedly the majority's choice seems to pass muster when its convenient.
-
Of course...pretty easy to cherry pick games wherever necessary. In the quarterfinals that year, NDSU outgained MSU 432-380. MSU was done in by being -3 in turnovers. Then you have NDSU/EWU game where Taiwan Jones had 230 yards rushing before leaving the game a couple plays into the 4th quarter and EWU outgaining NDSU 382-318. The Missouri State game that was referenced saw NDSU get outgained 334-120 en route to laying an absolute egg that had little to nothing to do with MSU's defense.

Despite what the "experts" claim, the Big Sky has a lot of offenses that depend on running the ball, though its through various styles (option, pro-style, spread). UND's defense is set up great to stop that. However, many of those offenses are also able to throw the ball around if necessary. That is the area where UND really needs to improve. The claim that the Big Sky doesn't play defense is nowhere near what the talking point has become and part of that has to do with some of the very strong offenses that can score in bunches.

I don't have any argument there. Just want to point out the difference in situations the FU trolls are trying to blur the lines on. The staff had no issue with the recruit attending other camps and they were not going to pull his offer or move on if he did so, but there may have been only room for one player and whoever took it first, would get the scholarship. That is a considerably different situation from telling a recruit he has to make a decision immediately and if he goes to another camp, his scholarship offer is being pulled and the staff is moving on. The latter prevents handcuffs a recruit and doesn't allow them any sort of chance to see what else might be out there. The former puts the decision in the recruits hands, weighing the risk/reward of the situation.
-
But somehow we keep hearing that the majority wants "no nickname" with nothing to back it up and that seems to be OK.
-
UND coaches didn't say anything even close to that, they had no issues with him going to camp at USD and SDSU nor did they didn't tell him he had to make a decision on the spot or they were pulling his offer and moving on. The recruit was the one who made the call because he enjoyed what he had seen at UND. On top of that, comparing football and basketball recruiting is ridiculous and not even in the same ballpark as multiple kids are brought in for the same position in football every year. With limited scholarships and roster spots, the same can't be said about basketball. But you know that and are just trolling, not sure why I bother. Huge difference between telling a kid to take the offer, preventing him from going and visiting somewhere else, or its getting pulled vs. having multiple offers out and only taking 1 or 2 at a certain position with all the recruits knowing the situation.

Pretty clear the staff is trying to bring in at least one more cornerback before the season to help shore up the secondary.
