  1. Again, please point me to the people (outside of one or two) who have advocated for an extension, said Jones isn't coaching for his job and will finish out his contract or that there isn't issues. People want a lot of things, and it is a good thing that the fans don't get to make the hard decisions. People wanted Hak fired too. Unfortunately talk is cheap and changes cost money, which doesn't grow on trees especially as the state/Universities face budget cuts and UND has implemented FCOA. LSU boosters want Les Milse gone, they raised $15 million+ in no time to do it. That happens at UND and you can see changes as fast as you want. You forgot to point out NDSU's loss to Moorhead a few years back as a lesser loss as a definitive example something is wrong and a coach should be fired immediately. You really seemed to support the players by jumping all over the team early last night when the game was close but then not saying a word when they got things figured out in the second half. If Waldorf is as bad as you claimed, the players shouldn't have needed any coaching to sleepwalk through the game. So who's fault was the first half? I stand corrected on that, my apologies.
  2. Too busy to comment when things finally started going as they should have? You know that D2 and NAIA aren't the same right? Regardless of competition, I'm glad to see that something significant changed in the second half, aren't you? I could honestly care less what Bradley or NDSU is thinking, I hope they do think UND is terrible and don't bother preparing. UND has a lot of good parts, it is up to the coaching staff to figure out how to get them to work together. The second half last night was at least a step in the right direction, regardless of who the opponent was. Outside of one or maybe two posters, I don't think these "supporters" you claim to exist are what they are. I definitely haven't seen anyone say that Jones should get an extension. I'm not even sure that I've seen anyone say that Jones isn't coaching for his job and is in no danger of not finishing out his contract. I don't think there is anyone who won't or hasn't admitted that there is issues that need to be addressed and sooner than later or the season is going to end not well and early (though early struggles aren't a huge surprise considering the scoring that needed to be replaced and that it was being done with young players, again, which falls on the coach and is valid criticism). However, it does get tiresome of seeing a handful of people who seem to get some sick perversion out of the team struggling so they can be "right" and say "I told you so". Criticism is more than fair game and rightfully deserved but when it is nothing but the same old repetitive stuff and knee jerk reactions that provide zero insight on the problem(s), it comes off the wrong way.
  3. I kind of like this one, stands out more than the black one. Personally, still a little busy for but I like the premise. Try uploading it to http://imgur.com/ and posting the link, would really like to see what it looks like with the proper green. Free upload and it should keep the colors correct.
  4. Took me a minute to figure out why that name was so familiar. Back to back games against former players turned assistant coaches, kind of neat. Serious question, do you have any actual analysis of the game or just hot takes with no substance? I mean I get it, terrible first half followed by a very much improved second half but still, even a little deductive reasoning or something would be nice.
  5. That escalated quickly.....
  6. So is the understanding that NDSU struggles to get research dollars when they actually have to go after competitive grants instead relying on the non-competitive ones they get from being a land-grant? I guess they should probably give out more tuition waivers to grad students, that seems like it would solve the problem and boost enrollment all at once!
  7. I have seen absolutely zero indication of that being a remote possibility at this point.
  8. Considering he'll likely be the head coach until March? Very likely. A bad performance on December 11th would probably be good for 10-15 pages itself.
  9. While I mostly agree with the first part based on past history, I can't say I agree with the second part. While they likely could not care less about what is going on in some random thread on the internet, they are most definitely aware of the same things that fans are and being discussed here. If they were not, there wouldn't be a concern about whether he would be let go or not in March since he has another year remaining on his contract.
  10. I agree but unfortunately their page clicks are likely showing a different story. It has been the gift that has kept on giving for the local media.

    2016 Season

I'm hoping whoever takes over at the center position puts in the time that Boas did. On the surface, he might not have seemed to be the most talented or look like the most physical guy on the roster, but my understanding is he put in a lot of work to get and keep the center job, particularly on the line calls which is a very underrated part of a center's responsibilities. The way holes were opening up and protection was holding, it appears he was doing a helluva job getting the line into the right calls. Very important that continues.
  12. To be honest, I think it has very little to do with protecting himself and pretty much everything to do with the assistant coach salary pool, which is a correlation to the low salary Jones has. He hasn't done anything to earn an increase, so unfortunately the assistant salary pool stays low. It was the driving reason behind Coach Ahelegbe going to USD. It wasn't all that different than one of the issues Mussman faced and a big reason that part of the deal with Bubba was an increased pool including diverting some of what could have been his salary towards the assistant pool. That being said, I'm not going out on a limb by assuming that an increased assistant pool wouldn't have a huge effect on the underlying problem. Barring some major off-court issues, I really don't see any way that Jones being let go before the season is over. Not my opinion on what should or shouldn't be done, it is my opinion on what will happen. I can't think of a time when UND let a coach go mid-season though I'm sure it has happened. Right or wrong, he'll get the conference schedule to try to make some noise with the team. Not an excuse, but everyone knew the team was going to be young this year, though that is partially on the coach, he built the roster and the W-L have been about as expected, maybe one more win (Youngstown), maybe not depending on how people expected them to fair against Bowling Green. The UNI game was an eye opener. I wasn't able to watch in person, but I did catch some large chunks of it. No way you should be embarrassed like that on your own court. Tomorrow's game against Waldorf won't be a very good measure of how the team responds, but Saturday's game against Bradley will. Now if UND had some LSU-type boosters who pooled together some money to cover the whole buyout and maybe a little extra to bump up the basketball budget and brought it into Faison's office, I'm sure that would change things.
  13. So you only see the irony on one side but not the other? And almost everyone has said the K-State win was good but you must have glossed over it but as a Fargo U fan, you have the need to find a slight in everything, real or perceived. The sad part is, you are seeking out comments on a UND message board to do it. I doubt that there is are many UND fans spending their time on a rival's message board.
  14. Yeah, beat them by 50+ didn't they? Oh wait, that was some other team that got into the playoffs due to their quality losses, all 5 of them.
  15. True. Very true...
  16. And the combined record of the teams that NDSU beat was 17-44. Exclude the Kansas State win (which was impressive and no one is arguing that) and the other 4 teams are 9-39, which is an average record of 2-10. The record of the two they lost to was a much more impressive 11-14.
  17. If you don't see the humor in that then you've taken the nickname thing way too far. That was pretty good and that's coming from someone who isn't the biggest fan of the guy that wrote it.
  18. I can't believe the whole 2011 class continues to be this clueless. In order to get to below 20 teams, the auto bids would have to be removed and there is zero chance of that happening. The NCAA requires at minimum, an equivalent amount of at large bids as there are auto bids.
  19. Are you seriously accusing them of changing Mark Wilson's quotes? And clearly you haven't listened to a word that Calilou and Izzo have said or written over the past half decade. No slight is too small.
  20. He had a good out with that one. Then he said that they look at injuries (among other things) and took them into account. Not saying it excuses, but it definitely puts it into a whole different light.
  21. Seriously? Well I guess any time you can take a team from 5-7 to 6-5 and have a point differential of -59 points on the year (including -36 in conference play), you need to take a moment and recognize greatness.
  22. Either you haven't read (multiple GF Herald articles) or listened (KFAN's interview) to what has been put out their by the Committee Chair or you're being intentionally dense. He did give an explanation. Using his explanation doesn't make sense when you look at some of the selections. That is the problem. Oh and there is a formula, a couple of them they say the rely on. The problem is one thing is said and another is done. He is better off saying a collection of what everyone is pretty much thinking, who cares if its true or not, at least it would be more acceptable then the reasons he has been giving: "We had some tough decisions but ultimately it came down to UNH getting in because their AD is on the committee, EIU got selected because the chair of the committee is an OVC school and wanted a second school and WIU, because well, we thought it would be a concession because of how we are going to regionalize the hell out of this bracket and the MVFC is going to be furious. Nevermind Sam Houston's SOS, they did well a few years ago, they are still living off that. Sorry about that Towson, UNH's AD threw you under the bus for his own team. Oh and UND, you had poor representation because no one cares what Idaho State's AD says and really, we thought you were going to lose to Cal Poly so we had already moved on before your game started."
  23. Unfortunately that ship sailed when the Committee Chair gave answers. The problem is now that the reasons given are contradictory and nonsensical.

    2016 Season

Very much related to this, I'm concerned that UND's bye week got moved to the last week of the season for this exact reason.
  25. UND will not be playing in a bowl game.
