So you'll complain constantly that the athletic department and Champions Club is unwilling to change or even listen and then completely dismiss when someone offers to personally set up a meeting with the person of your choosing, which gives you the opportunity you claim you want, actually talking to the people who are making decisions that you say are unwilling to have discussion with you. Just want to make sure that is clear for everyone so we know that your priority is to actually complain, not be a part of any sort of solution to improve things (which every single person can agree needs to be done to one degree or another).

So who do you want a meeting with and when to tell them your ideas to improve things? Multiple people have offered to get it set up for you and you keep ignoring it.

Not hard to notice this offer has been made by multiple people but unsurprisingly is continously ignored. Some people just can't be happy and want to complain.

I feel like a similar message came out of Fargo in regards to transfers not that long ago. That tune has changed quickly. Like it or not (and I'm not a fan of what it has quickly turned into instead of what it was meant to be), it's also the current environment.

You: REA/Engelstad Foundation doesn't help other sports!!! Someone else: Who do you think is backing summer school scholarships so student athletes can stay on campus, be with teammates and train properly to get better? You: LOUD NOISES

What about the funds that pay for summer school for athletes, including football players? Those don't seem to be just for ice skaters. But again, why let reality get in the way of your senseless rambling.

That wasn't even the point of where I was taking that. Scheduling is hard and home games cost money. Yet UND has 19 of them in the next 3 years. That doesn't happen by accident. I can assure you teams aren't lining up to play in Grand Forks, where UND is tough to beat, without some hard work being put in.

Imagine not supporting a program but somehow managing to get 19 regular season home games over the next 3 years scheduled. Truly amazing.

Must also be a coincidence that he applied for the Central Florida job the end of 2017, less than 2 years after he started. Hilarious that he was "forced out".

Last I checked, he took a much higher paying gig in Colorado on his own free will. Just a year after he applied for a job at Central Florida. But whatever narrative fits I guess. Tough to take commentary seriously when simple facts are blatantly misrepresented.

The problem with actually laying out specifics when critiquing is you need to know what you're talking about and you can then be held accountable when you're way off base. General complaining prevents all of that. Yep. Again, see avoiding specifics and sticking to general anonymous complaining. Absolutely. I'm guessing there are even people who would make a donation in order to help set up this meeting if they got to sit in, listen and report back on how it went.

Agree in principal, but if one of those two want SDSU (and it seems like both do), it would be a pretty poor idea to start the relationship off on a bad note. Just because you might have leverage doesn't mean it is always in your best interest to use it.

Or make a call. Or approach decision makers at events. Doesn't take a whole lot to get facetime and have a meaningful conversation or set up one for a different time. If that is the response you're getting, maybe take a look in the mirror and think through if your approach and way you handle yourself is maybe the problem. But I have a hard time actually believing you've put in any effort to talk to anyone about what is going on, what the vision is and what you can do to help with it. Making uninformed, semi-passive aggressive commentary anonymously is much easier I'm sure.

Turns out when your most visible program goes on a pretty unprecedented run, its really, really easy to sell your product. The same people who oversaw most of that growth were around in the D2 and transition days when UND was raising a very comparable amount of money. UND hockey had a season ticket waiting list long before NDSU football ever did (though I'm pretty sure you can currently buy season tickets to either sport.) Their team did the hard work and created the demand for them. Most of their work was capitalize on it and continue to raise prices. And frankly, based on current demand and availability, it is looking like they are fairly close to the peak if not slightly past. Overall point being, the only magical formula NDSU found for fundraising was a string of really good years (and whatever elixir it was that Ben Newman was giving out....).

Last I heard, a few months ago, they were assuming he wouldn't be as a worst case scenario. But thing change, and as mentioned, the NCAA will continue to make decisions without anyone really knowing how things will go.

That's not a blanket statement. It is what is. Beat them on the field, where it actually matters.

First off, almost positive these are 2021-2022 numbers. The fiscal year end for most schools isn't until 6/30 and the EADA reports this info comes from aren't complete until a few months after that. I'd take some of it (good and bad) with a grain of salt as pandemic issues had not fully washed out yet. I know UND's numbers pre-covid and during/post have shown slightly different stories. Guessing that is the case for a lot of institutions.

External hires take a little bit of time. I don't see the job postings anymore so I would expect an announcement coming fairly soon. If you read the job descriptions, the requirements are usually tailored fairly specifically, they have people in mind. Let's see who the new hires are before throwing in the towel.

All it validates is that everyone has a price and the PIF has an unlimited amount of money. Oh, also lawyers and lawsuits are expensive and retaining a non-profit status is incredibly valuable.

The main criteria is that it gets completed on time. Guessing the donor doesn't want their name out there in the event that it doesn't get done and it makes it look like they are rescinding the donation (which they have the right to do based on the criteria they laid out).

Exactly. The softball field wasn't a top priority until someone stepped up with a big check and a deadline. Turns out when you're willing to put your money where your mouth is, you get a much bigger voice.

They tried something a while back and the vote was a resounding no. They actually listened to the people and used other funds to do renovations. Haven't seen the newly finished kids area yet, but they have done a pretty good job with their remodel/repurpose.
