I had the same experience. We hoped that the reboot would include some staff improvements too, but it seems to be the same spotty service. When they first reopened (a month ago), they had new menus that included the Chinese menu and this week it's gone so they can include more average bar fare. As a bar/grill, why would you eliminate something that differentiates you from the other 10+ bar/grills in town? It's unlikely that we will return as well.

Nice job with your score prediction! -
Nice article on Vaughn's decision. I really like this quote: "I'm excited for the opportunity and to be teammates with those guys (Neal and Schuster)," Vaughn said. "The QB room will be exciting. I'm going to support whoever ends up being the guy and lead the team to the best of my abilities." https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4829295-Canadian-quarterback-flips-commitment-from-FBS-program-to-UND

Those protests occurred every year and were not limited to hockey. The SCSU administration embraced the protests with posters hanging on the doors of the arena and kids welcome to run onto the court to stage sit-ins. There was no other institution in the NCC that treated us as poorly and with such contempt. We were just student athletes, who had no control over the nickname. SCSU as an institution will never garner any sympathy from me.

Ouch! Plus, support for football has waned, Wacker said. There were 58 football season ticket holders this fall. In the last three years, the average Huskies football game drew between 1,000 and 1,300 spectators, Weems said. https://www.sctimes.com/story/news/2019/12/10/scsu-st-cloud-state-football-golf-teams-eliminated-title-ix/2634708001/

From an email sent to the UND Community December 3, 2019 Dear Members of the University of North Dakota Community, I write this note as I fly home to join Kathy back in Colorado Springs. This day has been a whirlwind of joy and excitement as I learned the news of the board’s decision to appoint me as President of UND. I am honored and humbled to serve you and the state of North Dakota in this important role. During this entire search process, I have learned much about the University and the people who commit themselves to it: the students, faculty, staff members, coaches, alumni, and citizens. Yet, I fully realize what I have observed during these visits only scratches the surface of all that happens on campus. There is much more to learn and much to discover about the great work taking place at the University of North Dakota. Thank you for your warm welcome and your active engagement in the search process. I was amazed at the number of people who had been streaming today’s events in their offices. As I hurried through the halls of the EERC to grab a green tie and prepare for the public announcement, people shouted their congratulations as I sped by. Their enthusiasm for the selection process and the future of the University is immeasurable and represents the passion that each of you feels for this great university. Kathy and I are eager to arrive on campus and to become an integral part of this wonderful community. Good luck during the remaining days of the semester! With gratitude and respect, Andy Armacost GO FIGHTING HAWKS!

Was the place in Kirkwood the 4B's Cafeteria? That was a favorite of my aunt when we visited. https://bismarcktribune.com/b-s-cafeteria/image_fbc00cbe-bf02-5c63-bfa9-ad141886a4b5.html Ohm's Cafe in Mandan hasn't changed much since the 80's

Goodbye to a SiouxSports Friend * Godspeed, sprig
HawksHoops replied to MafiaMan's topic in Men's Hockey
MM or jim may be able to provide the exact verbiage since they put it together. Essentially it said what has been mentioned in this thread and I'm going to have to paraphrase. "Tim was a respected member of our internet community and our Sprig would be missed by all. From SiouxSports." I liked it that his online moniker was listed. Really sad to say goodbye. -

The flowers and note from the SiouxSports family at Tim's service were beautiful. -

Over the last several years, I was able to attend a few games (basketball, football and hockey) with sprig. Great man and a wonderful fan. He will be missed. -
It's also important to remember that the Englestads don't limit their power plays to UND Presidents. Ralph was also instrumental in getting Terry Wanless replaced as AD. That led to a couple of bad AD hirings that set the department back dramatically from the success of the late 90's. Wanless was not even invited to the press conference when "The Ralph" was announced. These kinds of tactics are very similar to the ones employed by KEM.

If by no money coming in, you mean $41.6M (FY 2014), $48.3M (FY 2015), $33.4M (FY 2016), $40M (FY 2017) and $34.7M (FY2018) in new gifts, pledges grants and bequests to the UND Foundation. What were the totals the last five years that we had the Sioux name because I'm having a hard time locating those numbers? https://undalumni.org/file/documents/financial/final_annual_report_on_giving.pdf

Those are extremely generous donations.
-
In that case, I happily stand corrected. I should have said no donations outside of The Ralph and MIH, but if they donated to academics then I admit I was wrong. I certainly don't begrudge any decisions that the Engelstads or anyone else want to make with their money. If they no longer want to donate to UND, that's their prerogative. I just don't like the idea that donations are used to threaten the university.
