  1. While I was at the Sioux Shop, I was joking with friends that you could just get an iron-on or have the Fighting Sioux emblem sewn in the center of "North Dakota."
  2. The black and green authentic jerseys in The Ralph.
  3. Yes, they tied it up in the 3rd and then went ahead. J. Lam took a penalty with about 3:00 left in the game and Canada scored to tie it up. Then Canada scored in the first 1:40 of overtime.
  4. USA 10, Switzerland 0 USA had 80 shots on goal. USA will meet Canada again tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. central.
  5. http://www.usahockey.com/burlington2012_schedule.aspx There's a schedule. I believe USA doesn't play again until Friday.
  6. USA putting on another clinic 8-0 against Finland heading into the 3rd. Recap of previous games: USA 9, Canada 2 USA 9, Russia 0
  7. There's that saying that "school will always be there, hockey may not." I'd guess with the hockey-rich family tradition, there might have been more of a push. Just a guess, though.
  8. Watched the game on-demand. You can watch here: http://watch.tsn.ca/2012-iihf-world-championships-on-demand/womens-worlds-preliminary-round---canada-vs-usa/#clip653483 Great game by USA, they just kept throwing the puck on net and it was an impressive showing. The first 10 minutes of the game are a complete Gong Show. USA looked faster and a lot more cohesive. Canada's coach was not impressed after the fourth goal and it never really got any better for them. Stats don't really lie, though. Canada had a decent showing in the second, but the damage was already done. If/when this team meets again, I'm sure it will be different.
  9. Not sure if I'm part of the "you guys," but I've never tried to say what I think you believe. I simply responded to how I feel about the idea of winning a national championship. I realize that my feelings are not the same as other's, but that's OK with me. I know what constitutes as success for me and, to be honest, I'm not sure anyone needs to justify their feelings. If someone believes that NCs are the measure of success that he/she deems acceptable then that's just fine.
  10. Never said that you thought the NC was the end all and be all, I just said that I don't believe it is. I don't think they're not important, I just think they're one more thing to try to achieve. And you're right, all other teams have players come and go, but there are different individuals (players) involved in every shake up for every team. With the exception of BC's recent run and success, it's hard to predict who might come out on top with the NC. It's obvious that, for some reason, Jerry York has been able to figure out how to work his own style. That doesn't mean that Hakstol is a bad coach in my eyes. I'm probably in the minority here, but I want to see the players win some games, get some hardware, compete for the big one, build character and skill. But most importantly, I want them to get an education (whatever that means to them) while they play at UND. That's success for me.
  11. I can't speak for everyone, but this is how I see it. Would I love to see a NC (or two) in the near future? Heck yeah, absolutely! But I like that we contend for it very frequently. I enjoy watching the team win the MacNaughton and the Broadmoor. To me, winning the NC isn't the end all and be all. If Hakstol's teams weren't contending, if they weren't bringing home any hardware at all then I could see why people would be incredibly upset. I also think about this program in terms of the players and not just as players, but as students too. Every single team is different with different players and dynamics when there's a four-year rotation and players leaving after one or a few seasons that changes dynamics. I don't believe Hakstol is going anywhere.
  12. Schlossman is saying that fans should expect Dell to sign. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=90982
  13. To be fair, you're comparing a 21-year span to a 7-year span. I'm not saying it's not accurate by any means. For the 21-year span you're averaging a little over one national title every four years. If you're comparing the two, then I suppose some fans should be bent that the Sioux haven't won two in eight years.
  14. I don't think it's an easy role all of the time, but I really do think he loves being part of the Fighting Sioux family. Plus, his girlfriend is here. Not that having a girlfriend stopped anyone from leaving, but I think it's another reason to stick around.
  15. A suggestion to replace the scores until next season: A list of players who are committing to stay for next season and/or a list of newly committed players. Puts a positive spin in place of a little heartbreak.
  16. That 6-3 win over Minnesota at the Final Five was great. Definitely living with me for a long time.
  17. BC's goalie was very good tonight. The BC v. MN game should be interesting!
  18. This doesn't pain me nearly as much as last year's Frozen Four. Perhaps it's because I still feel a little bit of residual happiness from last Friday night's game. Such a great team this year and it's been a great ride with all of the adversity.
  19. Day 1: I'm 1-3 and both brackets for those regionals are dead. Hoping for better today!
  20. Optimism, I like it! Let's blame the refs.
  21. My bracket , but the consolation is watching Michigan lose.
  22. Now I have to eat my words because Michigan finally scores.
  23. Wowie, this Michigan v. Cornell game is boring. Or maybe it's because I've watched a lot of hockey today.
  24. Miami is going to kill my bracket unless they have a comeback like the Sioux did on Friday night against the Gophers. I have Miami to the Frozen4.
