You missed the point. Again. High school hockey had increased the penalties for boarding and CFB's. it has not decreased the intent or head hunting on the standout players. It's a concern. It doesn't have anything to do with physical play.

Yeah, that's not accurate on the number of games affecting his ability to go back to high school. A lot of players play games before and after the season. Vinni Lettieri was with Lincoln for their playoff run last year, and could have returned to Minnetonka if he wanted to.

I'm still amazed at the kicking call. I thought it was bogus. Shane puts up with a lot - he's a tough kid. If he goes to the USHL, great, he will be playing against some great players. If he stays at HF, great - I can watch his games more often. That said, I could see him going to Omaha after the high school season is done and getting in some games. I think that would be a good gauge to see where he's at as far as USHL readiness.

Some teams are worse than others, the game you're referring to was the worst one I had seen as far as him being targeted. I said after that game that there's not a chance in hell he plays high school hockey next year. But you never know if someone is able to get him to stay.

He got a major for kicking a guy against Wayzata. I think it's either a high school policy to get a game for major penalties or else it's Holy Family's. I've heard he wants to head to the USHL after this year. He's tired of getting targeted by other teams with cheap shots/head shots. Some teams head hunt him pretty good. But, it also sounds like people are trying to get to his dad to get him to stick around for all of high school. But I'd be surprised if that happens. I'll keep my ears open. The Gersich's live a few minutes away from me. People talk.

Hey! That's me! Orono clearly didn't get the memo. Gersich was suspended during the first meeting of the season between HF and Orono. Kinda pissed I didn't go to this game. Thought about it. Decided to go to HF's game on Saturday instead.

It sounds like the competition between the 2 goalies on the team got heated between the kids and their families, which caused a division on the team.

Was this not an doable route a few days back? I'm just curious because I'm from around that area, and I suppose I could have suggested this route, but assumed conditions were the same into Minnesota. I grew up about an hour east of Watertown. I didn't ask how things were down by my parents place though.

If I know Rau, and I do, he said something. Its the kind of reputation he has. It's a lack of respect. Leave it in the game. It's on both players, so get off your high horse and either get over it, or bitch about it to your Gopher friends. These kind of situations are never 100 percent on one guy.

Technically, Luke Johnson committed before he played in the USHL. But he also demonstrated what level he was at among his peers at USA select camps, Elite League, etc. as well, so we knew what kind of player he was.

I live in MN, so I've never seen this kid play. I have heard that while he is D1 caliber, that he's not quite there yet to get an offer from UND. Just a guess. Like I said, I don't know. I will withhold judgment until I see him play, if I ever do.

Shattuck plays at Benilde on Wednesday. I was going to check that out. Now, I know about who to watch for BSM, but who would be a couple guys on SSM without looking too far back in this theead? I've never seen them play before.

They look at USCHO. Or at least the player sitting next to me in the Gamble Computer lab 3 years ago did. It varies from player to player I'm sure.

I read this article after I literally saw a kid lay on the ice for an extended period of time to get a 5 minute major in a 1 goal game w/ about 3 minutes left in the game. Kid was out on the first shift on the power play too. Reminded me of what MacWilliam was talking about in the article when it happened. The kid laying on the ice was a Badger recruit, FYI.
