Providing aid to states for Coronavirus damage is a tricky subject. How much aid is truly needed directly due to the virus vs state mismanagement of the virus and long term state failures in many other areas ? Every state manages things differently (welfare, aid to illegal immigrants, public pensions etc). Some states have limited or no state income taxes while others have extremely high taxes. I’m not sure the federal government should bail out states. I might be ok with providing loans to them. If you had a neighbor that made six figures throughout a long career, had new cars, boat, all the toys they wanted and then had nothing saved at retirement time, would you be inclined to help them out ? I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t. Just as people need to have personal responsibility for themselves I think each state needs to take responsibility. The states could have emergency funds set aside to handle emergencies. If they need to go beyond that the the federal government can become the lender of last resort, not a source of free money.

I believe i heard it was one pill daily, so I assume 200 mg. Not much to get excited about.

A mask is worn to help protect everyone around you. I doubt it helps the wearer much at all. The gentleman that didn’t want to wear a mask is not assuming any risk, he is adding risk to everyone around him.

Some auto insurance companies are refunding some money to customers due to less driving going on during this shutdown. It appears that many/most hospitals are losing large sums of money due to the loss of non COVID19 patients. Should we expect medical insurance companies to refund some of the premiums being paid ? About the same likelihood of the Sioux name coming back.

The drug Actemra (used for RA) appears to have shown some promise for reducing the cytokine storm in some patients. Has anyone heard of this ? To get back to some state of normal we need a vaccine or something that can treat the symptoms of the virus and reduce mortality. Without that I don’t see how we have a football or hockey season this fall (at least with fans in the stands). Hopefully someone will find a way to successfully treat the severe cases in the next few months. My sincere thanks to those on the frontlines that are battling this virus every day.

Just curious if you are seeing any success in treating patients with any specific drugs ? There seem to be a few drugs that may help like hydroxychloroquine, remdesivir, and leronlimab. Good luck and thank you for all your good work.

I get really tired of all the politically motivated attacks from both sides. Most of the 2008 bailouts were actually paid back to the government. The government broke even or may have made a little money from “bailing out” the banks, auto companies, and mortgage lenders. One side complains about health care but has no good policy to fix it. They complain about Obamacare and say they want to repeal it but never do even though they had control of all branches. One side claims the rich should be taxed more. When they had control of all branches did they do this ? No. Did they get rid of all the tax loopholes they like to complain about. No. Me thinks that both parties would rather complain and point figures than actually do anything. They’re too busy worrying about how they’re going to get re-elected. It’s easier and safer to blame and complain then to actually implement a solution.

It’s very sad that both political party’s and the media try to turn everything into a political advantage. Disgusting. I find the media to be worst of all. They should be impartial and present just the facts. Unfortunately a very large part have an agenda and will distort or present the facts that bolster their viewpoint and ignore everything else. That has led to a huge polarization in this country. The fact that all of this is happening in an election year just magnifies the reaction.

I think we will see a nationwide quarantine fairly soon.

Masters golf tournament postponed

Wonder how this affects any bonus for the coaches that are tied into how they finish in the NC$$ tourney? Nothing paid out ? If so that would be a bummer for them.

This hurts as much or more than 2011. At least in 2011 the team had a chance to win.

The NC$$ has blessed the pairwise system as a means of selection and seeding the tournament. It is based on a complete seasons body of work. Therefore, if you are not going to play the tournament then you should award the championship to the team that would have been the #1 overall seed. UND was also #1 in KRACH. Congratulations to the University of North Dakota players and coaches winning the 2020 national title.

While that’s not the way I would want to win the title I would still take it. It’s not as though they didn’t earn it. They would have earned it through the body of work for an entire season. It would be hard to argue not to give it to them since they are #1 in the pairwise by a considerable margin.
