  1. Right here, WPoS PS That is a good off topic topic ...love the new avatar, much better than the previous one
  2. Tonight the winners of the 2002-2003 Calder, Hart, Jack Adams, Vezina, Lady Bing, Selke, and Norris will be announced on ESPN2...I'm in a prediction type of mood, so here's who I think will win each. Calder Finalists: Outstanding Rookie Barret Jackman Rick Nash Hans Zetterberg This was I think the toughest one. All three played outstanding this year, but I will have to go with Barret Jackman of St. Louis. Jackman had to step up for an injured Chris Pronger, and IMO did an excellent job. Hart Finalists: MVP Martin Brodeur Peter Forsberg Markus Naslund Naslund. Led an offensively explosive Canucks team this year. Brodeur certainely deserves it also, but seeing as how New Jersey is a defensive team...I'll give Naslund the edge. Jack Adams Finalists: Coach of the Year Jacques Lemaire Jacques Martin John Tortorella Lemaire led the Wild to a 95 point season, a 22 point increase from 2001-2002, and the Western Conference Finals. Sure the Sens won the President's Cup, but what Lemaire has done with a 3rd year expansion team speaks for itself. Vezina Finlists: Outstanding goaltender Martin Brodeur Marty Turco Ed Belfour All had amazing years, but the fact that Brodeur is also nominated for the Hart makes this one a no-brainer. Lady Bing Finalists: Sportsmanship Nicklas Lidstrom Mike Modano Alexander Mogilny Ok, so I lied earlier, this is the toughest one. On one hand I like Modano a lot (yes, I know he plays for the Stars), but on the other Mogilny played for the Leafs, who are not exactly known for sportsmanlike play. I think that Modano will edge him out, but I don't really have a clue who will win it. Selke Finalists: Outstanding Defensive Forward Jere Lehtinen John Madden Wes Walz Lehtinen and Madden have both won the award in the past, with Walz being a first time nominee. I'd like to think Wes Walz will win, but Madden does have a pretty impressive resume. What the hell, I'll be biased...Wes Walz. Norris Finalists: Outstanding Defensman Derian Hatcher Nicklas Lidstrom Al MacInnis Again with Pronger injured MacInnis had to step into the captain's role for St. Louis this season, while playing with rookie Jackman. Lidstrom and Hatcher are also both great defensemen, but MacInnis stepped up and took the leadership role in stride, leading the Blues to the 4th seed in the Wetern Conference playoffs. Disclaimer: If I didn't mention someone in my little spiels, that doesn't mean I looked past them. All Finalists are fianlists for a reason. This is just MY OPINION. And the Winner Is...
  3. Sorry guys, Hammy's on topic. He really hasn't said anything anti-sioux. I like seeing what non-sioux fans think will happen in the WCHA next year. I think you were reading into his posts a little too much, and jumped the gun a little bit IMO.
  4. As we have all been saying all along. Not ready, yet...will go in the first round.
  5. So they will only lose by a few goals, now....
  6. I remember reading this in a past issue of the Dakota Student. While REA does treat us like second rate fans, the atletic department is who came up with the new seating arrangement along with the student senate. I don't really know if this article has anything to do with the current arrangement anyways. He can watch the games from his house or apartment, like my roommate, but I will continue to be a season ticket holder and watch my last season of Fighting Sioux hockey from my seats behind the opponents penalty box (knock on wood ). As far as the drinking in the student section, I understand that. Being 22, I would like to be able to enjoy a sweet, tasty, beer (mmmmmm)in the student section if I wanted to, but unfortunately there are those that would buy alcohol for friends that were underage. So I have to drink it out in the concourse, I wish I didn't have to, but their reasoning for why I have to is good enough for me not to complain.
  7. Something tells me that he will play a few years in the QMJHL then onto the NHL a la Mario Lemieux. Too bad we won't see him in Green and White.
  8. I know they're filming a movie on it now...but as to where to pick up a copy of the game...don't know
  9. Which is why he won it. The Ducks go down to Detroit if not for Giggy.
  10. How did I know you would start this thread? Great game. Pretty even IMO except for the 2nd, the Ducks proved to any doubters that they deserved to be there. Congrats to the Devils for being such a dominant team in the last 10 years. BTW...the record was 12-1, you should have known that flatspin . What was with the booing when they announced that Giguere won the Conn Smythe? I know Brodeur played outstanding as well, and certainly deserved it too, but come on, look at what JS did over the course of the playoffs. Also, Scott Gomez...4th year...3 Finals...2 Cups. Not a bad start to your career. ......Lord Stanely is also welcome in Minnesota...maybe next year?
  11. MAAC Teams May Form Independent League With Iona and Fairfield getting rid of their hockey programs, Canisius is the only member school left, prompting the remaining teams to question the new governance structure of the league. One option is to form a new conference with the nine remaining teams run by Hockey East as the CHA was run by the WCHA in thier infant days. Overall the article is pretty interesting. Commnts, thoughts?
  12. Did anyone else see that? Stevens had him in his sights and BAM!!! Flattened him. Kariya said he wasn't knocked unconscious, but what was with that little shudder when he "woke up." How Kariya came back form that and rifled that laser past Brodeur (sorry flatspin, but Marty got flat out beat) I'll never know.
  13. Hopefully whichever team it is...it's in the AHL or the NHL.
  14. Well I'll go ahead and give her the ole college try. 1) Minnesota 2) North Dakota 3) Duluth Mankato 5) CC 6)JBSU Denver 8) Wisco 9) Tech 10) Anchorage
  15. I don't think we can say that Blais WILL be leaving if the Canes offer him a job. But, if Thomas continues to f*ck with him...he might be.
  16. Of course Parise is not yet ready for the NHL. He needs to put on a few pounds of muscle before he will be even considered ready by the NHL organizations. On the work stoppage note, the league and the players really need to think about what they are doing. Look what happened to baseball. And as much as we don't like to admit it, baseball was more popular at that time than hockey is now.
  17. I tend to agree with Hammy. I really don't know if Parise will be around at pick 21. If he is I think they might snatch him up as they have had pretty decent success with Bouchard.
  18. More trouble in Buckyville...I think that this will hinder their ability to compete in the WCHA this year (besides other obvious factors )
  19. Same here...that's good news. I'd hate to have to have them overnighted up to Grand Forks when they come in
  20. I think so because the Wild have a pretty low payroll. I don't forsee them throwing a large amount of money at Parise in the near future. He'll probably stay around another 2 years or so. Can we count on him staying all four? IMHO, no. I think it will be a David Hale type situation.
  21. Not sure if he did, but Roseau did win the Class AA State Championship that year. I was at their game in the state semi's against Holy Angels, he looked pretty good for them during that game. I was at the Target Center earlier for our Class A semifinal against Fergus Falls, I had left my lights on and killed my car battery, so I decided to stick around for the AA game.
  22. C'mon...The players deserve a break over the holidays too
