  1. Ooh...something like that could lead to lakesbison reappearing here and ranting...might be too risky.
  2. That's good to hear regarding the 75% in hand, sounds like you guys have your ducks lined up and are ready to go. Congratulations on that. I would have to question the $100 million number for SDSU, I can't see them building a football stadium and 2 other facilities plus sticking money into a Frost Arena refurbish and getting it all for $100 million, the proposed UND practice facility alone was quoted at $30 million, and that was a while ago. Unless they're going absolute bare-bone necessity on the 3 buildings and doing very limited refurbishing on the Frost Arena that number sounds really low, I just can't imagine being under $150 with a football stadium in the mix.
  3. Good interview, nothing new on Gregoire but good discussion. The first comment is priceless: Onesinceforty on Apr 27th, 2011 10:06:53 said: Thank you Chris. I always enjoy these. I have been waiting for at least one of the coaches to mention earning a degree as perhaps something to consider when deciding whether to turn pro. there seems to be less emphasis on that aspect than other considerations. It seems like this program and Notre Dame seem like great places for our prospects to develop. Just have them stay away from Minnesota. Actually, why don’t you get Lucia on the phone next.
  4. When he scored that goal it seemed like it was meant to be that the Hawks would finish the comeback, and then in OT...eesh. I think I was a jinx last night, I was cheering against Vancouver, Montreal, Philadelphia, and the Lakers and they all won. Karma must have bit me for something, although granted they were all playing at home.
  5. Looks like they have some serious work ahead of them, in one sentence they talk about the Board of Regents dealing with budget cuts and in the next they talk about the Board not letting them work on a financial analysis or forming a building committee...not exactly encouraging signs. Just at first glance these look like warbucks type projects: SDSU: Football Stadium Indoor Practice Facility Human Performance Facility Renovations to Frost Arena (BKB, VB, Wrestling) USD: Basketball/Volleyball Arena Renovating the Dome Outdoor Track and Soccer Complex USD's projects look realistic within a reasonable time, SDSU's are going to be a tough sell...I can't imagine the dollar figure that will go on them, maybe 200+ million if they don't get too crazy? Granted it will be a phased-in plan but still...ouch.
  6. Good article, I didn't realize he was a Blackhawks prospect too.
  7. Great night of playoffs coming up...Boston tries to finish off Montreal after trailing 2-0, then 2 game 7's including Chicago trying to finish the impossible job of coming back from a 3-0 deficit to mighty Vancouver. GO HAWKS!!
  8. Umm...I think all meat judging should be done behind locked doors.
  9. Ha! It did sound that way didn't it? No actually I was making broad remarks to the people who keep bringing the Kristo incident up over and over again under every imaginable thread just rehashing what has been said 100 times before. To them: We heard you the first 99 times, you don't believe what he says, we get it...move on.
  10. Hasn't this dead horse been beat enough? Is there anything NEW to report other than what's been said 100 times in both related and unrelated threads? Some people believe his version, some people don't...end of story. It's not likely any new information will surface, but if it does down the road feel free to bring it up in whatever the most current Sioux hockey thread is, and it can be discussed in a decent matter then. If you're just rehashing it for no other reason than to troll on here, then go away.
  11. That would be awesome, but it would take an Englestad-type donation and I don't think Kleinsasser has that much extra cash lying around. But seriously, it will take a monstrous fundraising effort when the time comes.
  12. I was thinking about mentioning that too but didn't want to be a total buzzkill. I guess now that it's out I can tack on that a retractable roof would probably add another 50+ million to the price. How they justify that is beyond me, but for the big stadiums it's 75-125 for a retractable so I'm guessing for a 25k stadium you wouldn't pay any less than 50.
  13. Yeah that's the one I liked too.
  14. I'm expecting big things from Nelson next year, no stats or anything to back me up just like what I saw the last 10 games or so this year. Could be an eye-opener.
  15. Not to sound negative (or like a Bison fan), but I think Sioux football has to walk before it can run. Joining the Big Sky is a good first step, but talk about a 25k retractable roof stadium isn't realistic at this point. I don't think the Alerus is the cause of lower than desired attendance as much as the quality of play and the attractiveness of opponents has been. When you're losing to teams like Sioux Falls (I was at that game unfortunately) it's hard to get people back the next week, no way around it. I think the timeline for Sioux football has to look something like this: 1) Get into a good conference. Done. 2) Promote to get people back into the seats to watch the Sioux play the new teams. I don't care how...give tickets away, give 4-wheelers away, tie it in with a concert, give them a pop and a bratwurst, autograph sessions...whatever it takes. And get the students back in the building, the last 2 times I was there the student section was almost empty, it was terrible. Do what it takes to get them there, regardless of hassle or cost, their energy makes the place alive. Schedule games at logical times, not Halloween night or early after a hockey game, guess what...kids party after hockey games, they won't come until 1 or 2 because they are sleeping, it's not hard to figure out. 3) Become competitive again. Obviously easier said than done, but nothing brings people like winning, and being able to compete with teams like EWU and the Montanas will bring people to watch, as will beating anybody else on the schedule. Win and they will come. When UND gets to this point and has a winning program again and is filling the Alerus, then maybe we can talk about a different stadium, I personally like the drawing of the horseshoe Memorial, but until the team gets to that point I think any stadium chatter is just that.
  16. Nice, glad I lucked out and caught it, thanks again MissSioux.
  17. Thanks for the heads up, although frickin Canada tied it up with a few minutes to go and now we're going to sudden victory, has been a good game from what I've seen.
  18. Chicago wins in OT, back to Vancouver for game 7, should be a classic.
  19. This Philly-Buffalo series has turned into one of the better ones, especially for a #2 vs. #7. It looked like Buffalo might finish them off but Philly tied it in the third and won it in OT sending it back to Philly for game 7. Now we'll see if Chicago can keep the comeback from a 3-0 deficit going, they've played really well the last 2 games and Vancouver should be getting a little nervous.
  20. Is this being televised by anybody, I haven't seen it listed anywhere?
  21. After reading 4+ pages of opinions which for the most part fall into one of these categories... 1) The nickname needs to be changed now to avoid sanctions and hurt our sports teams 2) The nickname should never be changed because we'll be selling out our legacy and the damage will be minimal 3) The nickname should only be changed after all legal avenues have been exhausted, the teams will have to endure some damage until it reaches it conclusion ...what seems important to me regardless of which camp you are in is the State needs to get moving on this immediately if they're going to take the lawsuit avenue, I'll be pissed if they rock on their nuts for 6 months and then file...then another 6-9 months to their court date...then another continuence...then the trial finally starts in early 2013 or something, this needs to be settled one way or the other ASAP.
  22. Tampa 8 Pittsburgh 2? 8 goals in 25 shots and at Pittsburgh? Craziness continues I guess.
  23. I'm not exactly sure what you're getting at, but the NCAA isn't trying to get rid of the program, just the program name. They will let them play either way, but if they play as the 'Fighting Sioux' they will face sanctions. They never wanted them to leave.
  24. Had to include the comment from the EWU board, that was the best part.
