Don't you think it would get pretty boring around here without all the Bison, Gopher, and the occasional St. Cloud or Duluth fan throwing their 2 cents in on everything? It doesn't make for very stimulating conversation if everybody has the same view on everything, I would think this site would get pretty dull and people would lose interest. The hacking back and forth is what a lot of people tune in to read, it's cheap entertainment. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I welcome the outside posters, if they get too out of hand they get banned so they really do no harm.

Someone needs to start a thread for the Black Hills game I guess, as far as this game goes a North Dakota team beating the University of Minnesota makes me chuckle, so NDSU it is.
-
The students meant to go to NDSU but got mixed up and went to UND, another conspiracy!
-
That sounds about right, just shows how sh^tty the coaches poll really is.

I just saw the stats in the Minot State-Montana State game...first half yards 370-68. Ouch. Glad they called off the dogs at halftime and played their young guys.

Montana beats EWU 17-14.

We've been laying it on the Bobcat fans pretty thick this week about scheduling Minot State..."Who's next, Mayville?"
-
Bet Tampa in early April would feel pretty good.

I bet the "Hockey Ruining Traitors" are going to get a warmer than usual welcome there, hopefully nothing stupid occurs.

No he can't, half the threads would be closed. Everything always ends up dragging in NDSU. Even hockey threads. Big Sky threads. Nickname threads. Facilities threads. Enrollment threads. If it has anything to do with any aspect of the operation of UND, eventually it will become a UND vs. NDSU pissing match. They can't help it and I guess neither can we.

McNabb looked terrible, never thought I'd say this but Jackson would have won that game, defense and special teams had the table set but McNabb kept dropping his fork. He better get it going pretty quick, short preseason or not a veteran throwing for 39 yards is beyond stinky, it's something you'd see from a rookie under pressure, a couple more of those nosepluggers and Ponder will be thrown in the mix, which might not be the worst thing.

The "which school is more well known?" arguement is pointless on these forums. NDSU fans and alums walking around Florida or Arizona with Bison gear on are bound to at some point run into someone that recognizes the NDSU logo. Then they LakesBison will quickly run to their hotel room and will try to log on to both Bisonville and SiouxSports to recreate the drama that was their interaction with some total strangers that apparently have heard of their favorite school, and proclaim that they are "NATIONWIDE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but then he will realize that he has been banned from both. " Provided lakes is granted a travel pass by his PO to leave the state after his legal troubles.

That's exactly right, bad offense leads to bad defense. Even though UND led the game 14-10 at halftime, it was basically on 2 plays (one of which was special teams), the rest of the half was the offense struggling and the defense holding its own until the last couple minutes. If you take the 2 catches by Hardin from the total yards it leaves North Dakota with a little over 100 yards of offense for the game...that is going to put your defense on the field for a looooong time, and I don't care if you're the UND Fighting Sioux or the Baltimore Ravens you are going to wear down being on the field for 40 minutes a game, it's that simple. The Sioux were good enough on offense to move the ball against Drake, and the defense did their job by pitching the shutout which shouldn't be overlooked. Then the defense held Idaho to 3 points and around 100 yards until right before halftime, and that shouldn't be overlooked either. But after halftime, when the Sioux could only muster 1 first down and 34 yards in the quarter (27 on one catch by Hardin), the defense was hung out constantly and ran out of gas for lack of a better phrase, and everyone saw the result. So when Mussman says the defense "has to make a play to get off the field", maybe he should be saying "the offense has to move the chains to keep what appears to be a decent defense fresh and off the field".

Fun to watch two teams with prolific offenses march up and down the field, like them or not you have to admire a team like GB with Rodgers and all those weapons. Every once in while a team comes along that is almost unstoppable offensively...72 Dolphins, Chargers with Fouts and Winslow, Montana/Rice/Craig, Rams 'Greatest Show on Turf', Vikings when Moss was a rookie, Colts with Manning/Edge/Harrison...I think this years Pack squad could be like that if they stay healthy, Rodgers has so many targets which should open enough running room for the two backs also, they could hang 30+ on a lot of teams this year. Of course their defense will have to play a little better than they did last night, the Saints must have had about 500 yards offense.

Only if they would have used their SNAP cards to buy Fighting Sioux apparel. Would have been the end of Fresno State.

Which ranks you where on the 'Classy Bison Fan' scale?

Was Rocky Hager using your computer earlier?

This thread is 'UND's New Hockey Conference', not 'Where's St.Cloud Waldo?', enough about why the Clowns weren't, aren't, won't be invited to join the NCHC or who has the meaner fans, it doesn't matter to us anymore. I know a lot of Huskie fans are butt-hurt about not being invited, but rather than come on here and bitch about it or use the "I didn't want to play there anyway" line, concentrate on something constructive like winning the new WCHA and making the NCAA tournament...those would be positive goals to move towards and they are very attainable. Now back to the NCHC thread... EDIT: I got sidetracked halfway through my post and Jim beat me to it, see what happens when you don't stay on task?

I watched the other 3 games but didn't see the scores of these two games until today, pretty respectable performance by the BSC teams considering they were all big underdogs.
-
I think we'll find out a lot more about this team against Idaho. Mussman isn't going to be able to run his boring vanilla offense hoping the defense can pitch a shutout like it did against Drake, Idaho is going to be pissed about that Bowling Green performance and will be looking to make a statement, Muss better dig into the playbook and open things up early or it could be a long night.

The 3 top Big Sky teams didn't look too bad against their FBS opponents this week. Eastern Washington outplayed Washington badly but 4 turnovers did them in and they lost 30-27, outgained the Huskies 504-250 and Washington was hanging on for dear life at the end...2 more minutes and I think EWU would have had them. Montana State gave up 2 touchdowns early after a bad pick and a blocked punt put Utah inside the 10 twice, then settled down and played pretty well the rest of the way, held the strong Utah offense under 300 yards and had about 260 themselves, lost 27-10 but looked pretty good actually. Montana also dug a hole with turnovers early against Tennessee muffing a punt and fumbling which led to 2 early scores, battled back from a 28-0 deficit with a TD and a safety to make it 28-9 but then threw a pick which was returned for a TD and ended up losing 42-16. About what I expected on defense giving up 450 yards, shut the run down pretty well but gave up big plays passing, moved the ball offensively better than I thought they would though, had about 370 yards. Interesting stat from these 3 games... 3 Big Sky teams turnovers...9 3 FBS teams turnovers........0

Every team has their share of fans who are a**holes, especially after their 15th beer, if you wear the other teams uniform to the game you're going to get a certain amount of flak regardless of if it is Grand Forks, St. Cloud, Minnesota, Denver, or wherever. With almost 12,000 fans in the Ralph every night there's going to be a few 'dickweeds' in the bunch. Don't judge the whole fanbase on the actions of a few fanatics or drunk kids.
-
Let me clear that up for you. Sioux fans support and follow their team better than any other team in college hockey. I don't give a rats ass whose fans win 'Miss Congeniality'.
-
UND 42 Drake 20 Utah 80 Montana State 3 Montana 13 Tennessee...um...way too many.

That's true, anything over 8 teams cuts your non-conference games to almost nothing unless you go with 2 divisions, and you almost need 12 for that to be decent.
