I just noticed if the WCHA playoffs started today we would be playing...wait for it...Michigan Tech. At Michigan Tech. Wow. We need to pick up a spot or 3 directly.
-
Almost beat that stat "teams with 4 or more turnovers are 1-71 in the playoffs", but in the end...1-72. Packer fans breathe a sigh of relief.

The 200 people who attend their home games will be disappointed.

Just read that the Vikings intend to give Kleinsasser any goal-line carries this week, I guess as a retirement present. Would be cool to see him punch one in, I can't remember the last time he carried the ball although he has scored a rushing TD I see. The way this season has gone they might as well let Jared Allen try to run one in too, he deserves something for his effort.

And while we're on the subject the Colts/Vikings/Rams would destroy LSU/Alabama, the speed and size of the NFL players would overwhelm the college guys.

That's the problem with these exhibition games, teams like the Sioux generally suit up quite a few players who see little or no game action to evaluate what they look like in a game situation and rest everybody who has anything worse than a hangnail. Then when the score ends up 4-2 or 5-1 and the next team down the road plays it like it's the Stanley Cup final and wins 4-2 or 5-1 everybody thinks that they are at the same level. Not quite.

Merry Christmas to all and travel safely. Sounds like we have more snow than most of you which never happens, hopefully it holds off until after the holidays.

Just read an article in the paper that John Elway wants to spend time with Tebow during the offseason to work on his throwing, said he wanted to last summer but couldn't because of the lockout. Seems like Elway is doing a good job as Vice President of Football Operations, spending time working with Tebow can't hurt.

I think every program has their share of embarrassing incidents...mostly drinking and brilliant plans concocted while drinking, and ocassionally something worse like the Montana State mess quite a few years ago and the Best Buy scandal...but I give credit to the institutions who try to get in front of it and report their players lapses rather than trying to hide everything under the rug, and I think the North Dakota and the Montana schools have done a pretty good job at that...disclosing information because it's the right thing to do even though it will bring criticism to the program. Penn State and Ohio State could take some lessons.

Ironically Vick has the 3 things that Tebow needs the most...smooth throwing motion, quick release, and arm strength. If Tebow had Vicks mechanics he would be very dangerous, probably more than Vick because he seems to be a better leader and makes better decisions. The way he throws now...he's going to have to improve his mechanics a lot to keep his job long-term.

How about this...winning the NCAA FCS Football Championship IS winning a D1 Title among schools with like attendance and scholarships, using the NCAA's own criteria. Winning the NCAA FBS Football Championship (if winning by a vote is really considered winning, I'll spare you ranting about that in this post) IS also winning a D1 Title among schools with like attendance and scholarships, using the NCAA's own criteria. They are both considered D1 Titles, divided by mainly attendance and scholarships as far as the NCAA is concerned. Even though they are both considered D1 Football Titles, the FBS winner is considered the true national champion because of their larger attendance and more scholarships available which translate into more money and better players.

People who constantly pay more attention to what their neighbors have and are doing seldom take the time to appreciate what they have themselves, and are never happy. Rather than focusing on every little thing that NDSU is doing, be grateful that UND is finally in a real conference for all sports, is almost through the transition period, and as a bonus has an elite, profitable, and highly entertaining hockey program. And oh yeah, the school is pretty good academically too. If you have a hard-on for NDSU and will never cheer for them in any sport under any circumstance for any reason...then don't. But don't come on here and run down people who are willing to support them when they play for a national championship, that's ignorant.

Don't get me wrong I'm not making a case for that setup, just wondering if DU and CC are pushing for it in any way.
-
As long as they don't hire the people who designed Marylands new unis, they are horrendous. Like a the inside of a Baskin-Robbins truck after a rollover.
-
I wondered from the beginning if part of the NCHC deal would be having the tournament in Colorado every 3 years being 2 of the original 6 teams are from there. Haven't heard or read anything to that effect, just seemed like something DU and CC would view as fair and push for.

Here's how it plays out: Broncos lose to NE but beat Buffalo and KC to win the AFC West Wild Card Game: Baltimore at Denver. Baltimore moves the ball at will but as usual Flacco can't finish the job and Cundiff kicks 6 field goals. Tebow is running for his life the whole game and completes 4 passes, 2 to each team. Lewis and friends commit 16 personal fouls and give Prater enough field position to match Cundiffs field goals with 6 of his own to send the game into OT tied at 18. Flacco 3 and outs in OT, Denver gets the ball at their own 25. Tebow runs for 75 yard TD on busted play, every Raven has at least one chance to tackle Tebow but misses. Broncos win. Lewis beats up Bronco mascot. Divisional Semifinal: Denver at Houston. Arian Foster trips on Bronco mascot before the game and severely sprains ankle...done for the day. Andre Johnson, who was a game-time decision for the 127th straight week...out. Yates and Tate against Tebow and McGahee. 2 good defenses...more field goals from Prater and Rackers, 12-12 at the end of regulation. In OT Houston is driving but Yates fumbles a snap on 3rd down and Houston is forced to punt. On the Broncos first play Demaryius Thomas takes the handoff on an end around and throws back across the field to a wide open Tebow, who scoots 73 yards to paydirt. Broncos win. Arian Foster beats up Bronco mascot. AFC Championship: Denver at Pittsburgh. Roethlisbergers gets sacked on first drive and bad ankle finally gives out...done for the year. Batch comes in and actually has a worse completion percentage than Tebow...game takes 4 1/2 hours to complete regulation because of 87 incompletions. 0-0 going into OT. In OT Tebow throws the bomb to Decker, isn't close to a catch but Polamalu gets his hair caught in Deckers facemask and gets called for pass interference. James Harrison berates the refs, says "everyone is out to get me" and gets an unsportsmanlike conduct tacked on. Prater FG, Broncos win. Broncos mascot hides, Harrison beats up John Elway. Super Bowl XLVI: Denver vs. GB. Rodgers....oh hell even I can't come up with any BS to make them win this game.

It's unreal how this has played out, it seems like every game during this winning streak whoever Denver has played has either been shorthanded or has just choked the game away. They play the Jets, Greene goes down in the first quarter and Tomlinson is already out...they win. They play the Raiders, no McFadden...they win. They play the Chargers, they don't finish drives, Novak misses 2 field goals...they win. They play the Vikings, no Peterson...they win. They play the Bears, no Cutler or Forte...they win. The chariot is probably going to turn into a pumpkin next week because Brady isn't going to let them hang around until the 4th quarter like these other teams have been, Tebow will have to complete some passes or they'll be down 30. But looking at the last 2 games, Buffalo and KC...this team should really win the division, and you have to give the guy credit for salvaging what looked like a disastrous season, apparently the players around him have confidence in him in the clutch and that's what really matters. That said, I still don't think he can survive in the league long-term unless he really improves his mechanics, the better defensive teams are going to stuff the line and make him beat them while sending extra people on the blitz, and right now that would be a problem. If they actually do make the playoffs and end up with someone like Pittsburgh or Baltimore it will get ugly.

Maybe it's evaluation time, raises are prorated on calls made. Not necessarily good calls, but calls.

Because guys like this don't really understand the way the game is supposed to be played, they are the same people who think that you should pass on every down in football and shoot 3's every time down the court when you're behind in basketball. My guess is this guy is the biggest fan in the world...when his team is ahead. I've endured people like this all the way from my kids 4th grade basketball tournaments to attending pro sports, and one thing comes to mind every time...keep talking idiot, confirm what everybody suspects.

And this broadcast has the tendency to freeze and get choppy at times if I remember correctly, seems like I had to exit and restart a few times over the course of the weekend when it got too bad but...free is free so can't bitch too much.

It's being reported here in Montana that ESPN has backed off of its ESPN3 internet-only coverage of the second round FCS games and has included them in the College Gameday Package this weekend...will still cost people around $25 for the package but for that you get all 8 FCS games as well as all the FBS games, sounds like a good time to get some buddies to come over and chip in on the cost. IDK if it's been talked about on here, but a lot of Montana's internet providers don't offer ESPN3, so there was a huge email and facebook campaign, and direct contact by our legislators to ESPN to try to persuade them to change their mind...and believe it or not...it actually worked! Score one for the little guys for a change, should be good news for NDSU and other FCS schools who would have been left with no options if they couldn't get ESPN3.
