From just GF Central, missing Kanta - Army Holt - Maine Hodgson - Bentley Grant Johnson - Northern Michigan A few in the pipeline that will/may as well… Coleman RR - UMass commit Carter Sproule RR NAHL Bydal RR NAHL Dillon Kuntz GFC - UNLV (rumored to go D1 very soon). Of all those names, I believe all stayed through senior year of high school except Bydal, who left after Jr year.

The top team in the land visits the Ralph. Denver @ UND

Only room for so many blue chippers…not enough pucks to feed and satisfy 9 of them…Denver finds them…and they score and more importantly, block shots, support the other blue chippers, and are used to not being “the guy” on their team…can’t have 14 “the guys” on your team. -

No, I mean get a few guys that are late bloomers that have worked their tail off to get a chance nobody gave them when they were 16 and the blue chippers we covet were being recruited…Blaise and Gino and Hak were great at finding and plugging those guys in. Get them when they are 19/20 not 5th year seniors. -

Got too many blue chippers…get some guys that are heart and soul and have been through the wars of Jr hockey and clawed their way to get where they are now…not guys that coasted since they were anointed at age 15. -
And a month into the season, per usual, UND cannot dress a full roster. I don’t think 26 is enough for NCAA hockey. Just about every NCAA team has a larger roster than 26.

This is what 9-man football looks like

Hands to the face of Ronfo…should have been 15 and a first down

Cheer up Izzo… biggest cheerleader ever to announce a game… and that includes Jim Adelson for those that can remember.

Romfo might not have any touch because his hands are raw from clapping 27 times each play

It boggles my mind how inept our kicking game had been in the D1 era compared to the D2 era when UND had a great kicking game. Kicking a football is not that hard; especially when that’s all you do and practice it hours a day each and every day. You would think one of the 7500 males walking the campus every day could step on the field and do a better job.

it's so lackluster to watch a team that has some talent that has no chance to win big games because their QB cannot throw the ball vertically...and what is frustrating as a fan is the coaching staff knows it and manages the game accordingly... you can't win meaningful games if the coaching staff cannot trust the QB to make plays with his arm. Romfo manages the game well and runs well but it appears he can’t make big time plays/throws with his arm at this level. He’s totally a one dimensional QB that can only make plays with his legs. Other teams will realize this fast and stack the box and challenge him to throw deep; but our philosophy will not change and it will be game after game of square peg/round hole. That said, why even name Romfo the full time starter before game 1? Why not split time between Romfo and Feeney before conference play and let them battle it out in a real game and see what they both have to offer? Practice and games under the bright lights are two different animals…staff should have seen what each do in a game and maybe have a dual QB combo that utilizes both of their strengths to bolster the offense.

Over the last few years there have been at least 20 locals (GF/EGF) playing D1 hockey plus many currently playing Jr hockey that may crack a D1 lineup soon. 3 locals have recently played in the NHL. Don’t discount locals because they are local.

Because the Ralph and UND hockey makes money and doesn’t share it with other sports is how we got here? So what we need to do is set up a hockey team at NDSU and SDSU and have them sell out every game with 12,000 people and then we can compete with them again in other sports? Can we be a bit more logical here and a a bit less petty?
-
The debate is not whether or not we blame Jake for leaving. The point is how did we get to this place? What's that say about our program here? We have a former player and kid that grew up in GF bolt to our biggest rival to coach at the drop of an hat after just 2 weeks on the job. How does a UND alum and associate head coach leave to be a QB coach at another rival? How did we get to where we are now and become so irrelevant that our own are leaving in embarrassing fashion? I guarantee that would never happen in reverse. During the 90’s and 2000’s NDSU and SDSU were chasing us. Now we are chasing them in embarrassing fashion. And it not just football…we cannot compete with either of them in any sport we play…how did we get here?

Chaves has to go; he is the caretaker of this program. We have finished below NDSU and SDSU in each and every sport conceivable the last 5 years and now they are toying with us and mocking us..:enough is enough!

I don’t like the use it or lose it mantra…nobody is going to spend 50% more and waste an additional half a day trying to get to their destination because they don’t want to “lose it”…to me it’s already lost and until they “fix it” it will remain lost. I prefer build it and they will come mentality…a better mousetrap always outsells a plea for charity which asking us to spend more for slower service and less choices amounts to. I agree that Williston and Dickinson have better service because of proximity to oil patch. Using same argument should GF not have better service with the foundation of aviation we have at our doorstep and the aviation school and UND in general along with proximity to Canada and Winnipeg? Allegiant brings a lot of folks from Winnipeg down to GF for its Vegas flights so why wouldn’t they do the same for Denver flight.
-
ND airports with flights to Denver: Fargo Bismarck Minot Dickinson Williston Devils Lake Jamestown The city in ND that does not have a flight to Denver: Grand Forks, which ironically is a leader in all things aviation with the top aviation school in the country, an Air Force base, and is becoming the leader in drone technology. Sad really… Figure it out and earn my business…if Devils Lake and Jamestown can do it so can GF. Until then, I will choose the best option based on expense and ease of travel.

Love these! Similar to the late 70’s or early 80’s when they were that sparkle grey helmet with ND interlocking logo. I tried to find a color photo of those old helmets but cannot…they were so cool; if anyone can find a photo of that helmet, please post.

NAHL has 300 + NCAA D1 college commits this year which is 2nd only to the USHL. Every team in the NCHC has more recruits out of the NAHL than UND for whatever reason. The NAHL has become a much deeper league the past few years in some part due to the fact that the 5th year (covid year) has kept 200-300+ players out of college hockey. Those kids that take the 5th year of eligibility are pushing down Jr players for another year that would be playing DI. Typically the NAHL roster would be at least a year older and a little bigger in size than USHL roster but would not have the high end skill of USHL roster. The NAHL is quite a bit more physical than the USHL; especially the ‘dirty South’ division as it’s affectionally called. The South typically is the strongest division - this year no different as Oklahoma proved by going 9-0 through the playoffs. The South leads the league in attendance as well with some teams averaging 2500+. http://nahl.com/player-advancement/college/ https://lscluster.hockeytech.com/statview/mobile/nahl/#/roster/1/271?league=1
