  1. I believe the Chamber of Commerce, all the GF hotels and restaurants, all local hockey fans, and any one with a brain would strongly disagree with you. To lose this tournament to Fargo for lame reasons you support is not acceptable and would be bad for the community. From purely a money perspective, what brings in more money to this community: a womens hockey practice or the state hockey tournament?
  2. So your standing by your statement that a women's hockey practice should take priority over the state boys hockey tournament? Additionally consider that the Olympic arena sits empty next door. Also consider that a large amount of students will miss additional class time to support their team. And finally, all of this so a team that averages less attendance then all 8 boys high school hockey teams in the tournament does, can practice on the REA ice instead of the empty Olympic?
  3. No practice should ever take priority over a state boys hockey tournament, especially a women's practice...get real. It's decisions like this that will drive this tournament to Fargo on a regular basis
  4. If so that would be very petty as state tournament should take priority over womens practice, especially since Olympic is available
  5. No women's game Thursday so why the 10am start? Noon start the past 40 years on Thursday...

I believe that I said it was out of touch for one of our Herald reporters to write an article that Montana State and South Dakota better have Dale on speed dial...call it pedistalizing or man crush but it was very off base and the reporter should have a better pulse on the subject then that.

I am sure there is a lot of truth in your statement. To me it still doesn't justify setting the program back years in a spitefull move for personal gain. It was a sideways move and looking back now not a very wise one. I don't think Bubba would have done it under the same circumstances.

I would say he left for personal gain at UND football expense. Tell me why this is an incorrect assumption. As of today I don't think he gained anything but I sure the hell know he cost our football program a lot.

Enlighten us please. I wasn't at all happy how he left, when he left, what he left us with, and who he took with him. Please tell my why, as a die hard Sioux football fan, I should not hold a grudge?

You are right, all levels have changed over the last 40 years and yet we are back to where it was in the 70's hense with a different name. Today we call it FCS, in 1975 we called it DII. I like where we were in 1975 and I liked the teams in our division then. I also like where we are now and the teams in our division now. I did not like the division we were in 15 years ago...most of those teams are still DII and some had just moved up from DIII...we were better then that and we proved it in the 60's/70's and are proving it now, back where we belong with our peers from the 70's. Do I think it taints Dale's record because we were a big fish in a small pond when he was our coach in DII? To a degree, yes. Although it hadn't changed much in the NCC, most of our peers from the rest of DII had moved up to 1AA/FCS and we had some advantages being a big school in DII at that time.

huh? Yes the majority of these teams did leave in 70's and 80's, hense my quote that said today's FSC is the 1970's DII. I also said we were late to follow our peers to 1AA/FCS. The teams we played in the 90's, 2000's are still DII, the teams we play now we're DII In the 70's. Where did I want to say I wish we were in the SEC? We are where we belong, back with our 'like' programs from the 70's. Read the post before you post...

most of the NCC was intact but a lot of the former national powers were long gone...Montana, Montana State, Boise State, eastern Illinois, Texas State, Western Kentucky, Deleware, Jacksonville State, Youngstown State, Portland State, Lehigh, Central Michigan, New Hampshire, Northern Iowa, UNLV, Louisiana Tech, Grambling State, Western Illinois, Appalachian State, McNeese State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, UMass, Northern Arizona, Akron, Nevada, Idaho, Idaho State. We were very late to the FSC party. Today's FCS is 1970's DII and don't let any Bison fan tell you different.

not sure what is so bizarre about that...maybe Kill is just a better coach and recruiter period. Dale was coaching in his backyard at a time when a lot of the d2 powers were leaving for FCS. He struggled for what ever reasons in his first job away from home.

Lennon was 31-37 last 6 years with his guys...he did well with Jerry Kills guys first couple years...no way SD or Montana St hires a guy with that record that never won anything in the FCS...how would you sell that hire to your fan base?..they don't care what his D2 record was 10 years ago at UND.
  19. I don't I want to hear about injuries, everyone has them. UND can't lose that game yesterday in that fashion...just can't period. They lost to a team that is on a four game losing streak, playing on the road for the fourth consecutive week, having given up an average of 63.3 points the last three weeks! We blew a 15 point lead in the 4th quarter in our homecoming game. We threw our defensive philosophy of attacking the QB out the window which is baffling...for those of you that want to tell me we did so because of injuries, please tell me how did that new defensive scheme work for us?
  20. Someone please tell me why we played such a soft defense? Why no blitzing? Why didn't we try to jam the receivers on the line? We couldn't cover them so why not be more aggressive? We really made it very easy for their QB and offense. Everybody knew we would have trouble with pass coverage so why not try to disrupt their timing? That, to me, was extremely disappointing!
  21. 99% of the Fighting Sioux crowd love it. If the Fighting Sioux name, without any NCAA sanctions, was put up against the other 5 names in a mythical election it would win in a landslide of 90% or more. That said, it's a slam dunk that if this Fighting Hawk logo were to become the official logo, that name would win easily. I personally like it because it not only looks cool but is a very easy transition from the last logo to this logo. REA (and a lot of UND fans gear) would not look out of date as it will with any other logo. There is no way the NCAA could have sanctions against this logo as a bird with feathers can have feathers. I don't think the powers that be will have the stomach to incorporate this logo because they are tired of the controversy but it would be awesome if they did have the guts to pursue this as it is truly a great logo. I also realize that it may be copyrighted but a few adjustments would take care of that (see Black Hawks logo and the logo we had pre 1992, same but feathers different colors)
  22. I really think choosing a name without knowing what the logo will be is very difficult. If the hawk in the feathers was the logo I think Fighting Hawks wins easily (UND BIZ: please tell us one more time that there is no chance). Think of the Fighting Sioux logos...Blackhawk logo and Ben Brien's logo were awesome while the geometric logo was very lame. Every nickname can be upgraded with a great logo and can be downgraded with a poor logo. Who will determine the logo of the winning name? Will there be another vote on this? Scary to think of what logo may be chosen by the same pin heads that gave us these 5 finalists for names!
  23. Let's play old time university of North Dakota 'Hawkey'...its gaining steam...
