  1. And the women's hockey program really pays its bills At UND?...get a clue ... There will be almost 20,000 fans that attend the State hockey tournament and there be 300 that attend the Sioux women's playoff games!
  2. Agreed. But a lot of hockey fans in Grand Forks do including me. That said, are you going to tell me more then 1% of the state gives 2 shites about UND women's hockey?
  3. FYI...by no means am I suggesting that Mr Idalski will become another Shannon Miller to our program. I have no knowledge of that and am not suggesting that. I am just saying that history could repeat itself here and there are many other sources then the coaching staff that could make things hard on the Men's program and may already be undermining this state tournament to protect the womens program.
  4. 1st round has never played before noon, fact. Women played Bemidji in playoffs before at Purpur to make room for state high school, fact. Your 2012 scenario is just a piece of the natural pregression of this issue. And now you have this year...all part of the stranglehold the women's program is putting on this tournament...it progressively gets to be a bigger inconvenience to the tournament each year. Can't you see this? Please google UMD womens hockey lawsuit...I am sure you will find a wealth of information on the subject or research Schlossman's blogs. Good Grief!
  5. I would say 4000, many were from GF to chear for Central. Overall I was disappointed with the crowds for the tournament since it was a first time event for Fargo. Not many locals showed up.
  6. The girls would love to play on the Olympic...it gave them a lot of exposer as fans would wonder over between boys games to catch some hockey and it was a great atmosphere as the place would be packed. Your right, 10am is no different then many sports but it is different for this sport which hasn't done it for 50+ years of the tournament...you missing the point...it's not that they are, it is why they are. The Duluth men played a playoff game in the afternoon while the women played at night a couple years ago. Surely you have heard of the lawsuit going on now between the former womens coach at Duluth and the University?
  7. I think it reaches beyond that...the entire boys and girls tournament used to be played in both the Main rink and Olympic. The Sioux women would play their playoff at Purpur. Now all of the girls tournament except for championship game is at Purper and all consolation and 3rd place boys game is also at Purper. The Sioux women are practicing and playing on Main rink now during state tournament. Look to Duluth for where this may be heading...don't be surprised if womens team starts alternating coveted late afternoon practices on the main ice with the mens team and plays some prime time night games while men will be forced to play some afternoon games. For all you out of town hockey only junkies on this thread that could care less about the high school hockey tournament. maybe this will wake you up a little?
  8. We are talking about playing an entire college career in an olympic arena to practicing once before a game. I don't think the Huskies are going to be working on gap control the day before the game. It will be a practice to get loose and get the travel legs going again. Good grief. Bottom line is are we really going to jeopardize an event like the state hockey tournament returning to GF so a freeking womens hockey team that nobody gives a sh*t about can practice on the main rink? Come on people! $$$ for the community and a tradition that many in our town love cannot be held hostage for a womens hockey practice.
  9. LOL..oh ya really changes those passing angles...probably should put that puck on the tape no matter the angle...let me guess, you never played hockey? And to further pile on this comment of yours then why o why does NDSU and UND practice at a different facility then the Fargo Dome and the Alerus? Heavens, it must be a nightmare to practice outside and then have to go inside to play a game...I don't know how they do it? Long story short and my final comment on this. For the first 50+ years of this high school tournament there was never a change of scheduling for a practice. The mens team always scheduled their practices around the tournament and if they were in town during the tournament, the men played Sat/Sunday around the tournament. No questions asked, it was just how it was done. This is fact. So why are things so different today? I think I know the answer.
  10. Ralph would be in my corner on this one...sorry...
  11. Ice is ice...why the mystic with practicing on that ice? They have praciticed there 100 times by now. FYI, most NHL teams do not practice on the NHL rink, they have a different practice facility because the NHL rink has other events on a consistent basis. Hak's Flyers rarely practice on the NHL rink in Philly.
  12. Darn right...look up his dedication speech...his vision was to further the UND mens hockey team and the community of GF...he did not give two sh*ts about any other UND program. Part of his generosity was to help this community after the flood. In addition, he was a big proponent of high school hockey as he built the arena in TRF for high school and youth hockey and has donated money to help support other high school arenas. Rest assured, Ralph would not be onboard with this scheduling. The best way to run this tournament was when they utilized both the Main ice and Olympic arena for both boys and girls. One stop hockey for all and it worked very well. To do away with such a good thing for petty reasons is very short sighted.
  13. I believe the Chamber of Commerce, all the GF hotels and restaurants, all local hockey fans, and any one with a brain would strongly disagree with you. To lose this tournament to Fargo for lame reasons you support is not acceptable and would be bad for the community. From purely a money perspective, what brings in more money to this community: a womens hockey practice or the state hockey tournament?
  14. So your standing by your statement that a women's hockey practice should take priority over the state boys hockey tournament? Additionally consider that the Olympic arena sits empty next door. Also consider that a large amount of students will miss additional class time to support their team. And finally, all of this so a team that averages less attendance then all 8 boys high school hockey teams in the tournament does, can practice on the REA ice instead of the empty Olympic?
  15. No practice should ever take priority over a state boys hockey tournament, especially a women's practice...get real. It's decisions like this that will drive this tournament to Fargo on a regular basis
  16. If so that would be very petty as state tournament should take priority over womens practice, especially since Olympic is available
  17. No women's game Thursday so why the 10am start? Noon start the past 40 years on Thursday...
  18. I have 4 for tonight (Friday) 104 on the isle, right behind goal UND shoots on twice. Easy access to bathroom and beer stand ...great seats! $50 each or $175 for all 4. Text 701-739-5623

I believe that I said it was out of touch for one of our Herald reporters to write an article that Montana State and South Dakota better have Dale on speed dial...call it pedistalizing or man crush but it was very off base and the reporter should have a better pulse on the subject then that.

I am sure there is a lot of truth in your statement. To me it still doesn't justify setting the program back years in a spitefull move for personal gain. It was a sideways move and looking back now not a very wise one. I don't think Bubba would have done it under the same circumstances.

I would say he left for personal gain at UND football expense. Tell me why this is an incorrect assumption. As of today I don't think he gained anything but I sure the hell know he cost our football program a lot.
