  1. Can't go to New York so I am selling 4 great tickets - 1st row of second level, right behing the net. $200 for the 4 tickets. Text 701-739-5623 if interested.
  2. Any BC or QU fans looking for tickets? Many available at face value...great seats in lower bowl including 2nd row behind net...not looking to make money, just want to get face value and only want to see our game(s). Text 701-739-5623 if interested.
  3. We all realize who has priority...yes REA has priority...but it is about doing the right thing for the majority and the tournament you are hosting. The Wild have priority at the Xcel too but they cordinate with the NHL to schedule games and practices around the MN state high school tournament, meanwhile our womens hockey program that is peanuts is smug and won't budge on their practice time for the good of the community, the tournament, or the high school kids. That is the issue! We are all well aware of who has priority, we just don't like how petty they are with said priority. Can you get that? We personally knew Ralph and we know what his priority would be so taking our comments with a grain of salt is a slap in the face. Please go to someone else who knew Ralph personally and ask them who Ralph would want to have priority this past weekend...the high school state tournament or the womens hockey practice. You need to read the link I posted for you...it's not the GF schools that were complaining about the early start times and missing class...read the article before you post your nonsense. The REA comps all suiteholders with a tournament pass for each seat they have in their suite. 48 suites with at least 20 seats = 960 free passes available. I know very many who received free passes from suite holders that were not going; at $36 for a tournament pass that is up to $34,560 in lost revenue. Suddenly, the revenue difference makes even more sense now. I cannot comment as to why the REA charges $10,000 more then Scheels does but it probably has something to do with why they gouge $4 for a bottle of water for this high school event as well.
  4. Well congrats as you just named about the only two who would be happy with the scheduling (Idalski and Faison). Glad we could accomidate them instead of the vast majority, including the kids that bust there ass all year for the opportunity to play at state. The rest of us (99%) are happy that they are happy. Kevin Fee and I told you how Ralph would approve and it sure the hell wouldn't have been at the detriment of the high school kids...the Sioux women could have practiced at 10am right, why was that such a poor option? Don't tell me because they would miss a couple of hours of sleep or because they would miss class...you dismissed that for the high school athletes so you can't have it both ways to fit your argument. The gate was larger in Fargo the first year of Fargo campared to the prior (and worst) year at the Ralph. Compare REA's first year or average of first ten or Fargo's 2nd year next year and then we can talk...of course that would be logical. Also, you are discounting the suite holders at the REA that get into all events...those suiteholders have tickets that are free and are not counted as revenue.
  5. And finally this to complete the hat trick... http://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/our-opinion/3957561-our-opinion-grand-forks-mustnt-give-state-hockey-other-tournaments I guess everything I wrote about on Thursday about these topics are now being supported by the sane...cut that crow into small pieces so you don't choke all you nay-sayers...
  6. Tweet from Kevin Fee, a former GF Herald reporter who interviewed Ralph when he dedicated the REA...I guess I am not so clueless now am I 82SiouxGuy? Kevin Fee ‏@feethrows 23h23 hours ago GF hock leders must step up and keep state hock. Ralph's vision (talked to him when he annced new arena) UND men & and hs hock. Get it done.
  7. new Ralph was open for 5 months. Do you think many went to Fargo last year to see how Scheels Arena handled the tournament? I did for that sole purpose.
  8. I guess your opinion on this matter wasn't shared by the out of town coaches that played the early game...http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/local-sports/3956591-state-hockey-notebook-coaches-arent-fans-early-start
  9. Correct on the novelty factor. 9500+ attended the first championship game at the new Ralph, so lets compare apples to apples here. That said, we will see how Fargo does next time.
  10. Scheduling has everything to do with it. Women's hockey having priority of the REA was not the purpose of the gift. I am certainly not for Title IX and its mandates. Sleeping in an extra hour is the least of my worries, especially since I am up at 6 am every morning. Seriously, where do people like you come from? You are so interested in showing people how smart you are that you don't entirely read other peoples posts.
  11. you and I can rent the Purpur for $125 an hour. there will be no fans and revenue in the future at REA for this tournament as it will be in Fargo because of this gong show scheduling around women's hockey
  12. And the women's hockey program really pays its bills At UND?...get a clue ... There will be almost 20,000 fans that attend the State hockey tournament and there be 300 that attend the Sioux women's playoff games!
  13. Agreed. But a lot of hockey fans in Grand Forks do including me. That said, are you going to tell me more then 1% of the state gives 2 shites about UND women's hockey?
  14. FYI...by no means am I suggesting that Mr Idalski will become another Shannon Miller to our program. I have no knowledge of that and am not suggesting that. I am just saying that history could repeat itself here and there are many other sources then the coaching staff that could make things hard on the Men's program and may already be undermining this state tournament to protect the womens program.
  15. 1st round has never played before noon, fact. Women played Bemidji in playoffs before at Purpur to make room for state high school, fact. Your 2012 scenario is just a piece of the natural pregression of this issue. And now you have this year...all part of the stranglehold the women's program is putting on this tournament...it progressively gets to be a bigger inconvenience to the tournament each year. Can't you see this? Please google UMD womens hockey lawsuit...I am sure you will find a wealth of information on the subject or research Schlossman's blogs. Good Grief!
  16. I would say 4000, many were from GF to chear for Central. Overall I was disappointed with the crowds for the tournament since it was a first time event for Fargo. Not many locals showed up.
  17. The girls would love to play on the Olympic...it gave them a lot of exposer as fans would wonder over between boys games to catch some hockey and it was a great atmosphere as the place would be packed. Your right, 10am is no different then many sports but it is different for this sport which hasn't done it for 50+ years of the tournament...you missing the point...it's not that they are, it is why they are. The Duluth men played a playoff game in the afternoon while the women played at night a couple years ago. Surely you have heard of the lawsuit going on now between the former womens coach at Duluth and the University?
  18. I think it reaches beyond that...the entire boys and girls tournament used to be played in both the Main rink and Olympic. The Sioux women would play their playoff at Purpur. Now all of the girls tournament except for championship game is at Purper and all consolation and 3rd place boys game is also at Purper. The Sioux women are practicing and playing on Main rink now during state tournament. Look to Duluth for where this may be heading...don't be surprised if womens team starts alternating coveted late afternoon practices on the main ice with the mens team and plays some prime time night games while men will be forced to play some afternoon games. For all you out of town hockey only junkies on this thread that could care less about the high school hockey tournament. maybe this will wake you up a little?
  19. We are talking about playing an entire college career in an olympic arena to practicing once before a game. I don't think the Huskies are going to be working on gap control the day before the game. It will be a practice to get loose and get the travel legs going again. Good grief. Bottom line is are we really going to jeopardize an event like the state hockey tournament returning to GF so a freeking womens hockey team that nobody gives a sh*t about can practice on the main rink? Come on people! $$$ for the community and a tradition that many in our town love cannot be held hostage for a womens hockey practice.
  20. LOL..oh ya really changes those passing angles...probably should put that puck on the tape no matter the angle...let me guess, you never played hockey? And to further pile on this comment of yours then why o why does NDSU and UND practice at a different facility then the Fargo Dome and the Alerus? Heavens, it must be a nightmare to practice outside and then have to go inside to play a game...I don't know how they do it? Long story short and my final comment on this. For the first 50+ years of this high school tournament there was never a change of scheduling for a practice. The mens team always scheduled their practices around the tournament and if they were in town during the tournament, the men played Sat/Sunday around the tournament. No questions asked, it was just how it was done. This is fact. So why are things so different today? I think I know the answer.
  21. Ralph would be in my corner on this one...sorry...
  22. Ice is ice...why the mystic with practicing on that ice? They have praciticed there 100 times by now. FYI, most NHL teams do not practice on the NHL rink, they have a different practice facility because the NHL rink has other events on a consistent basis. Hak's Flyers rarely practice on the NHL rink in Philly.
  23. Darn right...look up his dedication speech...his vision was to further the UND mens hockey team and the community of GF...he did not give two sh*ts about any other UND program. Part of his generosity was to help this community after the flood. In addition, he was a big proponent of high school hockey as he built the arena in TRF for high school and youth hockey and has donated money to help support other high school arenas. Rest assured, Ralph would not be onboard with this scheduling. The best way to run this tournament was when they utilized both the Main ice and Olympic arena for both boys and girls. One stop hockey for all and it worked very well. To do away with such a good thing for petty reasons is very short sighted.
