  1. From 1949 until 2001, titles were few and far between for Boston College too.
  2. LOL...I have never heard a goalie losing a national championship game by a 3-2 score in OT referred to as being 'lit up like a Christmas tree,' but ok... Minnesota hasn't won a title in 10 years, almost as long as ND's 13. Wisconsin's was a fluke...regional in Green Bay and Frozen Four in Milwaukee. To me, it speaks volumes about the depth of the WCHA itself when you have five different schools with national titles in the past thirteen seasons. No other conference can claim that kind of success since 2000. They're not even close.
  3. I agree with you 100%. I think the Pairwise has become a little too easy to figure out and its quite possible that the integrity of the game has gone right out the window in exchange for getting healthy and a 'better draw' in the tournament.
  4. Lowell lost at home to UMass two weeks ago. Their season's over too.
  5. You missed the news this am...Coach Hakstol is scheduling a press conference for later today where he will announce that even if UND wins its opening playoff series, the team will decline the invitation to the Final Five and just call it a season.
  6. Nope, Miami lost on Friday to a terrible Ohio State team so obviously they don't have a shot to win an NCAA title.
  7. I know that too, but I was trying to point out the positive, LOL.
  8. I've seen Michigan play the last three weekends now and I have to be honest...I don't think ANYONE in the CCHA wants to run into Red's team come playoff time. The Wolverines are playing much better than they were earlier this season. Hockey East is anyone's game. Merrimack had Boston College on the ropes last weekend and blew it. Providence College has been a nice surprise this year too.
  9. Exactly. Some fans on this board went nuts after the home loss to St Cloud too. Why is it anyone not named Minnesota or Denver is treated like they should be playing with a skill level akin to that of the Bloomington Jefferson Squirt B team?
  10. I could have sworn it was CC but your memory might be better than mine. I was at the 1997 Final Five and the Frozen Four a few weeks later...greatest two Sioux memories of my life.
  11. The Beavers took 3 of 4 from UMD and Denver this year at home including a 5-1 thumping of the Pioneers in a Saturday night game. It's not an impossibility...
  12. Michigan State and Vermont, yes. Sparty did upset Western Michigan last night though.
  13. And Bemidji should just roll over because the almighty Sioux are contending for the MacNaughton Cup? Let me get this straight...Minnesota 3 sweeps and currently tied for 2nd = #2 in Pairwise and they should stay there. North Dakota 3 sweeps and currently tied for 2nd = players not playing hard enough? HUH?
  14. ...and yet they managed to take the current #1 team in Hockey East to overtime before losing...
  15. You realize that the #2 ranked Gophers have three sweeps all year too, right? Two of those were before the snow fell and the third was in January against Alaska-Anchorage!
  16. LOL. Don't take the cyanide pill just yet. Is Minnesota shutting down the season because they lost to Denver on Friday night? I suppose being ranked #1 and overwhelming NCAA favorite to win the title is the way to go, right? Just as the 97 Sioux...or 98 Michigan...or 06 Michigan State...or 11 UMD... Oh, wait, you mean there STILL might be a chance for the Sioux THIS year?
  17. Why is that? UND was swept at CC on the last weekend of the 1997 season and Minnesota swept to earn a share of the MacNaughton Cup. Both teams have 1997 WCHA Champions banners hanging from their rafters. What's there to be 'pissed' about?
  18. Yes, it's been a little sparse some years but the last 2-3 have had 15-30 people attending. The Hogg knows we are coming...I think I've set this up for 6-7 years now.
  19. LOL...Gopher fans singing 'nah nah nah nah hey hey hey goodbye' song to Denver. Apparently a home split might be reason for students to rush the ice in about 30 seconds...
  20. The Hoggsbreath is a 5-7 minute ride north of St Paul on 35E, then exit west-bound Highway 36. Your first exit will be Rice Street...take a right there and go one mile north. Easy on, easy off, easy to find.
  21. A trio of 'Three Amigos' costumes is infinitely more amusing...
  22. I'm inclined to lean Friday myself...and I agree on the Friday brunch right before the 2pm semi-final being a good call. It worked out well last year and helps out the out-of-town folks taking in the Saturday afternoon Wild game. I just want to make sure some long-time brunch attendees can make it before making the final call. Plus a lot depends yet on when UND will play...
  23. Minnesota has worn those before...Can't recall when but I have seen them at least once and probably more often than that. Did you see Michigan's yellow jersey last night against Ferris State? Yuck.
