  1. Groan...I saw a few BSU games last year too. They'd have better luck having Goon just show the games on TV by recording it with his iPhone.
  2. Maybe it would help cancel out the effects of too much shampoo in Joe's hair and help Justin's headaches?
  3. Comcast isn't available in my area. Dish does have CBSSN...I watched lots of games last year including some UMass-Lowell and Quinnipiac games.
  4. I have Dish Network...saw maybe one Sioux game last season. This is an IMPROVEMENT over last year, plus I get to see some additional games.
  5. Gee, not that it didn't help fans who live 20-30 minutes away from the X avoid having to take 1/2 a day off of work in order to see their team play...
  6. I'm likin' it!
  7. What % would actually report that as income on their 2013 tax return anyways?
  8. I think you'd need the DH in the National League before that happened, something I'm not totally opposed to. I'm tired of groaning every time the pitcher comes up to the plate in an NL game. Then again, there's no 'designated free-throw shooter in the NBA,' is there?
  9. I never did understand that logic..."you're a multi-millionaire athlete and just won an award...so we're going to GIVE YOU a free car!". Gee, thanks, I'll put it in the garage next to my other dozen. How about drawing a random ticket out of a hat, finding the fan that owns that ticket, and giving HIM or HER the car?
  10. But you cannot have inter-league play where the Mets and Yankees and Cubs and White Sox are guaranteed to play each other during the season but everyone else rotates. I preferred the old days of no interleague play at all. Then again, I still remember the crummy astro-turf at Veterans Stadium and Gaylord Perry's famous spitball. Mike Schmidt was a power-hitter, now he'd be a scrubby utility player. What was wrong with the team with the better record hosting the World Series? If the Cardinals finish with 105 wins and Texas winds up with the wild-card and 88 wins, is it fair that St Louis should open up on the road simply because a mid-season game involving 3-5 members of their actual team determined who gets to be the home team for the World Series?
  11. Are you from that area? Have you been to many games at Yost? Talk about a FABULOUS college hockey atmosphere. 8,000 fans singing "Hail to the Victors" gets LOUD in that building.
  12. I agree. The NFL Pro Bowl and NBA All-Star game have become totally unwatchable. That being said, deciding World Series home advantage based on the winner of the All-Star game is absurd. Inter-league play can go away too. Yes, it's fun if you're in Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles, but it's just another series when it's Detroit vs Pittsburgh, Philadelphia vs Cleveland, or Texas vs San Diego.
  13. I used to love the MLB All-Star game...now it's a joke. Mariano Rivera pitches a scoreless 8th inning of a 3-0 game and wins the MVP award? And did anyone else catch the 'creepy uncle' hug that Bud Selig put on Mariano after thanking him for his years of service with the Yankees? Talk about uncomfortable... I will miss Tim McCarver though...always enjoy hearing him call a game.
  14. I know everyone has high hopes for Target Center and hockey...prepare for disappointment.
  15. I hope not! Then we can listen to all the Sioux fans who have whined for years about the WCHA rule suddenly change sides and now be vehemently IN FAVOR of a similar NCHC rule? Count me out. Earn the #1 seed and enjoy the 7pm start-time.
  16. Duh! It was Justin Duberman!
  17. Not quite 'Like' x 1000 but 'Agree' x 1000 in this case. I predict 12,000 for a UMD vs UND championship game. The WCHA played its post-season tournament sans Gophers in 1998 and 1999 at Target Center. I would bet the 1998 title game between Denver and North Dakota drew 8,000 tops.
  18. If you aren't at this place next spring, Wilbur, somebody's gonna gonna get whupped..
  19. I've always liked 'Hey Man Nice Shot' by Filter...good stuff.
  20. If Eau Claire WI can draw over 3,000 the day after the 4th of July (2008), I would think GF could easily draw 7,000+.
  21. Yikes. I'm fully aware that theoretically, most of eastern EP is about 25 minutes from Mariucci. However, try and leave EP on a Friday night in December or January at 6:35 pm and let me know if you make the opening face-off at 7:07 pm. My money says no...
  22. The Brainerd comment was meant in terms of approximate distance from his hometown. Toews bringing the cup to UND would be akin to Leddy bringing it to Brainerd.
  23. I was just gonna say...20 minutes from Eden Prairie to Mariucci? Maybe at 7am on a Sunday morning LOL!
  24. It's Brainerd, not Brainard. Leddy grew up in Eden Prairie, a lifelong Gopher fan, and he brought the cup back close to his roots. Toews grew up in Winnipeg, spent two years at SSM, and two in GF en route to the NHL. Yes, apples to oranges. Had Toews grown up in Thompson and worn Sioux jerseys to UND games as a grade-schooler, we'd now be comparing apples to apples.
  25. If I could be paid $50 million to move back to my home country or $75 million to play thousands of miles away from it, which would I choose? Jeremy Roenick is wrong on this one...kudos to Kovulchuk for wanting to go home...and doing it.
