Word out of New York is that Charles Wang doesn't want to make any changes to Islanders jersey after move to Brooklyn. Problem is that arena management is urging a brand overhaul (a la New York Nets vs New Jersey Nets) because they don't like the idea of Islanders colors (which also happen to be New York Knicks colors) in the Barclays Center. It'll be a shame if the Islanders logo and jersey disappear from the NHL.

Go Wings Go! Any more questions as to how cheap Corey Perry is, Goon?
-
Umm...how about the trades for Leddy and the goalie-go-round in the past few years? Major role players from a few years ago were jettisoned almost immediately after the cup win (Big Buff, Kris Versteeg, etc.). This team is built around trades more than you think.

They should. Heaven knows how many millions of taxpayer dollars went towards building both buildings...nevermind the new Vikings stadium and Target Field... http://minnesota.cbs...nt-on-stadiums/ http://minneapolisof...for-renovation/

That's a reach. I'm pretty sure Indiana wouldn't want its high school basketball championships decided in Chicago (which is closer to folks in northern Indiana than Indianapolis is) and football fans in Oklahoma wouldn't exactly be fond of championship weekend being played in Dallas, TX.
-
I used Minnesota as an example...Michigan, BU, and BC would be others...
-
And if you're the coach of a team that typically plays in front of 700 fans and you finish in the top 8, you'd be opposed to 2-3 more games at home? Doesn't add up... I think you might be suprised at the BIGGER schools who want to keep the regional format, not the smaller ones. Why would Minnesota want to risk traveling to Quinnipiac or Yale when they can host a regional in St Paul almost every year?

LA Kings...the champion won't go down easily.
-
This part just stuns me. What segment of coaches could possibly be opposed to better attendance at a hockey game or weekend series?
-
Defend him all you want, NY fans definitely got the short end of the stick in Wang's deal with DiPietro.
-
Some of that has got to come down to coaching and telling players to do nothing. I realize that players will circle the wagons when a player has been injured, but a video replay of the initial incident clearly shows what is and should be considered a legal hit. I would hate to think of Montreal's team reaction if the hit in question had been a Robbie Bina-like cheap shot on a Canadiens player.
-
I still can't believe he gets a pass on the 2009 Stanley Cup game 7 win over Detroit. You know, the one where he was too injured to play in the last half of the 3rd period but could skate around like a demon when it came time for the Stanley Cup presentation...
-
I'm confused by Brendan's comments...the hit and penalty still makes no sense to me. And Montreal's reaction in the next game was simply wrong. Why wouldn't Corey Perry face a similar suspension? The lack of consistency is mind-boggling.

It's best 2 out of 3...we'll see. I have said before that I don't see them firing Yeo...but the problem here might be the media and the fans. I told people on July 4th that the Wild would not win the Stanley Cup but friends greeted the signings of Suter and Parise with the attitude of "Stanley Cup or heads will roll". I'll be curious to see what happens. I don't expect his firing...but wouldn't be suprised if it happened.

I would love to see the Islanders beat the Penguins. I'm not an Islanders fan (or a hater), but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Islanders jerseys. Paging Mike Bossy... Ottawa/Montreal...just when Canada gets as many teams in the playoffs as they've had in ages, one of them is guaranteed to go home after the first round. And thanks to Vancouver's early post-season exit, there will be at least TWO Canadian teams done after round one. That's too bad. Detroit/Anaheim? Can we just be done with Anaheim already? You can't say "NHL playoffs" with the words "Red Wings," can you? I think Minnesota might pull the plug on Yeo simply because of the fan expectations here. Tom Powers actually ran a "Shades of 1991" article on the WIld...BEFORE the start of the Blackhawk series.

Thanks, I'm familiar with that particular article and the history behind the contract. I'm not defending Wang at all (boy that sounds funny, doesn't it?) but Snow could have talked some sense into the old coot before signing off on the deal. Instead, he was happy to retire from playing and step right into a GM job thanks to his goofball owner. Like I said, Snow was a cheerleader...

Great stories from Fetch and Goon about their iced coffees, favorite cappucino brand, and what flavor reindeer drink they like at Caribou Coffee...but does anyone care to chat about some hockey? Let's start with the Penguins being tested by those pesky Islanders. Who saw that coming after the game 1 drubbing in Pittsburgh? Have fans in Vancouver burned that city to the ground yet? Has there been a more disappointing playoff team in the last 5-10 years than the Canucks? Ottawa is taking it to Montreal...good. St Louis and Los Angeles...this one is going 7. After an off-season filled with some major losses and holes to fill, nobody gave Washington a chance...is this the year they finally break through?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2013/05/07/toronto-stronger-leafs-twitter-outrage.html "Dude...you in the blue jersey looking at the camera...yea, you...punch the d-bag behind you right in the mush, would you?"

DiPietro signed a one-year deal the year before his 15-year deal. Snow was a cheerleader for the contract and was giddy about it at the press conference where the deal was announced.
-
Well-played...I was too busy chuckling over UMD's Jimmy Craig...
-
Yes, I agree, Ray77. Montreal's antics were outside the boundaries...big-time.
-
But didn't Garth Snow do a great job rebuilding the Islanders...that gigantic contract for Rick DiPietro...AWESOME! Speaking of which, DiPietro hasn't been mentioned yet...Boston University.
