  1. Grenora? Crosby? Newburg? Oakes? Rhame? Golva? Elgin? Reeder? Watford City?
  2. It most certainly is NOT a hoax...I even kept the print version of it from today's Minneapolis Star & Sickle, er, Star Tribune.
  3. Glen Ullin? Killdeer? Larimore? Linton?
  4. Why, the most famous mall in the universe, of course!
  5. Enjoy...and be sure to send James an e-mail after you're done reading his 'commentary.' http://www.startribune.com/local/213418601.html
  6. hey, stoneySIOUX, is that the new Dallas Stars jersey but with the SIOUX and logo on it? It looks sweet!
  7. Fixed your post.
  8. Isn't there a thread over on GPL that could occupy your time a little better today?
  9. Which, if you stopped posting today, would put me a cool 15,000 and change behind you.
  10. You don't sound like a dink at all - we just have differing opinions on this one. Thanks for the compliment. If I were in Mark's place, I'd say 'Former Packer great Brett Favre, who as you probably know spent a few seasons here in Minnesota with the Vikings, will have his number retired tonight in Green Bay..."
  11. Time to perform CPR on this thread... Deep thought for this morning, June 28th, 2013: I woke up feeling fine as I turned 43 yesterday...so how come I feel like I'm 73 today? To those of you who continue to drive 54.9 miles an hour while hogging the left lane of a 3-4 lane I-94...MOVE THE HELL OVER INTO THE RIGHT LANE! Similarly, when I pass grandma and get back into the left lane and am doing 80 in a 55, don't flash your high beams at me, swerve around in angst and cut back in front of me (giving yourself six inches to spare with the semi-bumper you almost slammed into) because you somehow think I'm IMPEDING traffic, despite the fact that I'm doing 25 miles an hour OVER the limit. Is anyone surprised that the new St Paul Saints stadium is now looking at $6-$8 million in cost over-runs due to soil clean-up? Minnesota Timberwolves...don't pick Shabbaz Muhammad...don't pick Shabbaz Muhammed...don't pick... Whew, they didn't draft him! "Breaking news: the Minnesota Timberwolves have just traded for Shabbaz Muhammad...". Well of course they have. Maybe they can swing a trade for Sam Bowie and Kwame Brown while they're at it. With the 4th of July right around the corner, what better way to celebrate America's independence from England with some embarrassing family photos...enjoy the link. http://www.dailymail...-fireworks.html
  12. OK, Mariucci, you're beating a dead horse. Perhaps my point should have been to specifically point out Mark Rosen's comments and leave it at that. So would it be fair to say that in a few months, when Green Bay decides to retire Brett Favre's jersey, that Mark can blurt out "Former Viking Brett Favre will have his number retired by the Green Bay Packers tonight..."?
  13. While I understand the local homer perspective, I still think a guy like Mark Rosen could have said something to the effect of "There are six current or former Gopher players on the Olympic roster as well as Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux, who spent a year here at the 'U' before transferring to North Dakota for the remainder of their respective careers." I would have been happy with that.
  14. And one of my all-time favorites, from the Quebec Citadelles, the AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens from 1999-2002. Great, great logo...again, picture that in nice Sioux colors...anyone...anyone...Big A HG...anyone?
  15. The London Knights jersey from several years ago...great jersey...and Sioux colors would make it pop!
  16. For many of the same reasons Rough Riders won't work, this won't either...but it's pretty cool.
  17. As long as it wouldn't go the route of the Temple Owls or Rice Owls logo, I think there's potential...especially with kelly green in the color mix...
  18. A concept done on another forum that I came across...I see a problem with young fans though and parents not being keen on this type of nickname and logo...
  19. I like it...the Minnesota Junior Hockey League has a team called the Owls... http://www.mnjhl.com/
  20. That's a great example of a signature moment playing with your mind. Good one, though. I think most old-timers like to think of Carlton Fisk as a Red Sox player. Let's try this, though... "Congratulations to former Philadelphia Phillie Ryne Sandberg on his induction into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame..." "Former Florida Marlin Mike Piazza was in Miami today..."
  21. Actually, the Albany River Rats had one of the coolest minor hockey league logos around... I'd make a few tweaks, like getting rid of the winking eye and silly rat-tail on the R, but I always thought this was a cool name and logo.

Actually, this post should be "See, there IS an edit button."
  23. He played 7 years in Minnesota and 5 in Denver. And won a Super Bowl in Denver. That's oranges to apples.
  24. That's the quote that really got me...so if a half-dozen fans in Denver have a relative who died in an avalanche, does that mean that Colorado's nickname must go by the wayside? According to Kurt Landes, yes indeed.
  25. I'm sure your average Fine Arts or Sociology professor at UND thinks of 'cowboys, hunters, and gamblers' when the word 'diversity' pops into their head...
