  1. How many current Wild fans here were former fans of the North Stars?
  2. Wow! I called in a favor to a buddy and was told that while the Wild had to cut corners somewhere in order to pay a couple of $98 million salaries, they were able to fix this injustice somewhat by offering you a waffle cone. Beggars can't be choosers, right?
  3. ...and if in 5 years Dillon Simpson captains Edmonton to back-to-back-to-back Stanley Cups, North Dakota will be known as "Oiler Country" for a very different reason than it is today...
  4. Any truth to the rumor coming out of Dinkytown that Minnesota is considering dumping hockey scholarships altogether so they can compete better with the Harvards and Union Colleges of NCAA hockey?
  5. I don't want to use the term 'desperate' in describing the Wild's goaltending situation, but Wilbur's getting $500 and an authentic jersey with his NOB to suit up as the back-up for game 2.
  6. Some fans cheer for teams they grew up watching...some cheer for teams in specific cities...some cheer for specific players and just follow whatever team he is on. Diff'rent strokes for different folks, I guess. That being said, if TJ Oshie had won 2 of the past 4 Stanley Cups or Zach Parise wins 2 of the next 4, you'll see plenty of allegiances here on SiouxSports.com changing - but not mine. And no, Goon isn't from Boston. But he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  7. If Toews was traded this morning to the expansion Donald Sterlings of Los Angeles franchise, 1/2 of Blackhawks fans on the board here would be wearing new hockey jerseys with Donald's face on the front of it quicker than Oxbow6 can say ".6 t-shirt."
  8. ...as opposed to the Twins, Timberwolves, and Vikings...and 100 other sports franchises where the team owner pays for 100% of the stadium cost? Hell, if it wasn't for Pennsylvania's taxpayers, DaveK would be busy cheering on his Kansas City Penguins this playoff season...thanks to Missouri's taxpayers.
  9. Final: Rangers 4 Penguins 2 (OT)
  10. Jersey watch: Blackhawks reds vs Wild whites = A++
  11. ...and another blown call on the ice...New York scores...play continues as the ref signals "no goal"...and New York scores again a few seconds later to win it in OT. So the guy who thinks e scored the game winner is probably finding out right now that the game actually ended about four seconds earlier.
  12. Consol Energy Center...just doesn't roll off the tongue like "the Igloo" used to...
  13. Oh I do too...a lot. Have you seen the Aeros jerseys with the USA star on the shoulders? It's fabulous. EDIT: I'm not talking about the WIld-icized version either. Here's a good look at a couple of versions...change the blue to black in both, tinker with the green a bit, and you've got a sweet jersey http://www.ebay.com/...K-/141258017317 http://www.ebay.com/...S-/111319558887
  14. I like the logo and the nickname, but the idea was more along the line of "Mustangs" like I suggested earlier. Fighting Sioux to Fighting Mustangs? You're right if the name is "Aeros," but perhaps if some diversity training was given to students so they knew not to confuse "Aeros" with "arrows" (along with "could not care less" and "their," "they're," and "their"), it would work.
  15. If UND was located in Hillsboro, I don't think there would be any issue with the school also being called the Burros. Problem is though, you're dealing with quite the rivalry between GFC and RR and risk alienating about 1/2 of the town's population base should you decide to call the team "Rough Riders."
  16. That nest may be nice, but there's a reason Toronto's NBA team is looking at a total re-brand. That Raptors identity is just plain corny.
  17. How about "Mustangs," but the plane kind and not the horse kind? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_P-51_Mustang
  18. Nope and nope. But now that Aeros is suddenly available thanks to Houston moving to Iowa and becoming the Iowa Wild... The Aeros logo and uniforms were simply awesome.
  19. Yea, when I saw "Wildcats" as a suggestion, my next thought was immediately "Winship Elementary School." OK, I lie. Actually, it was New Hampshire.
  20. Beck? Isn't he the guy that sang the song "Loser" in the early 1990's? Or was he the guy that played h.s. basketball for Linton and won back-to-back Class B state titles in the '80's?
  21. Hey, if we're going to dog-pile Goon and his use of proper English, can we once-and-for-all get the phrase "could care less" fixed? If you COULD care less, you are indicating that you actually DO care, albeit probably just a little. If you "could not care less" or "couldn't care less," you are stating that you don't care at all, hence the expression.
  22. Because it's not the Christmas season, that's why.
  23. It happened twice before in the entire history of the league...now it's happened twice in four years. While the Kings' comeback is historic, I still think it ranks a notch behind Philadelphia's 2010 Eastern Conference Finals comeback over Boston. Boston, much to Ray 77's and Goon's chagrin, led game 7 3-0 with 5 minutes and 50 seconds left in the first period. They wouldn't score again and lost 4-3 on a third period goal by Simon Gagne. Other memorable 3-0 series comebacks: 1942 Maple Leafs over Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals - ouch 1975 Islanders over Penguins in conference quarterfinals Note: This is just the SECOND time a team has come back from a 3-0 series deficit while winning game 7 on the ROAD ('10 Flyers being the other one). The '42 Maple Leafs and '75 Islanders won their series' game 7 at home.
