I'll give gfhockey some credit...this is a great idea.
-
There are no easy answers - yes, I think PSU should have gotten the death penalty.
-
Nobody is saying that...but is it fair to tell the 21-going-on-22 year old senior who had no idea what was going on "no worries, you can transfer anywhere you want to without penalty" while you torpedo the program? And, let's be honest here, SMU isn't a valid comparison because players were involved in what was going on there.
-
Why not shut down the entire institution for two years?
-
Actually, it was 0-0.
-
Oh, I'm sorry, I mistook you for the poster who said "they normally do [suck] if you look up their records" when it comes to recent history of KSU football. Oh, wait, that WAS you who said that, wasn't it?
-
Interesting, because I thought Kansas State had twelve seasons of 9+ wins since 1993 and was coming off an 11-1 season heading into 2013...
-
Did you even bother to read the second paragraph of my post before commenting on the first or are you always inclined to assume you don't agree with anything I write?
-
On the flip-side, when NDSU bumps up and plays Kansas State or Iowa State, predictions here range from Wildcats and Cyclones by 20 to about 40...then 3 minutes after the games end, it's "meh. Those schools are gonna suck this year anyways." That being said, I wouldn't run my mouth off about beating Ferris State either. At least in football. That hockey team is pretty good.

Charges were filed and Rice was placed in some sort of pre-trial diversionary program that would essentially keep him out of jail. I don't know how this video didn't find its way to the coppers or prosecutor's office. It's either a case of total incompetence or complacency in thinking no one would notice this and it would eventually dissipate and everyone would just forget about it.
-
Good! If the NCAA wanted to punish Penn State, it should have 86'd the entire football program for a year or two. Instead, they chose to punish the athletes who stayed with the school/team.
-
LOL! The back-pedalling by the NFL on this is ridiculous. "Oh, NOW there's video? In that case, we REALLY mean business!"
-
He'll be in the CFL next week.
-
I wrote that earlier - everyone knew what happened in there...there just wasn't video of it. NOW we're outraged? Rice should have gotten a season-long suspension months ago. Conveniently enough, Baltimore did nothing other than wait for the NFL to act - and now they cut him?
-
Well, sports logos, jersey design, and name-branding weren't quite as hip then as they are today..
-
Seeing the Vikings in their current uniform scheme makes me happy. That last uniform was a hot mess.
-
Goodell should lose his job over this. It's the day after opening weekend...the day of the first Monday night games of the season...and, what, 5-6 hours before kick-off, NOBODY is talking about what happened on a single football field yesterday (or last Thursday). Wow.
-
Totally agree with you there, fs4l. That team quite possibly had another 1-3 Super Bowl appearances left in it had Johnson remained the coach after 1993. I also think had Dallas re-signed Ken Norton Jr instead of letting him walk to San Francisco after that season, Dallas would have won three consecutive Super Bowls (Norton Jr went to San Fran in 1994 and was a key factor in helping them get past Dallas).
-
Tennessee was 11-2 in Peyton's last season. They were humiliated by your Nebraska team in the Orange Bowl. The 1998 team went 13-0 and won the national championship with Tee Martin at QB.
-
I dunno, fs4l, why don't you try telling your next interviewer that you were "fired" from your job and see what the reaction is as opposed to telling him/her that you "quit." Jerry Jones is a prick, I get it. But Jimmy Johnson went out of his way to publicly humiliate Jerry every chance he got and Jerry was finally fed up with it, so he canned Jimmy. Then, just to show Jimmy that practically anyone could take that Cowboys team to a Super Bowl and win it, he hired retread Barry Switzer.

Still can't quote...GRRR!
-
Agree 100%. Especially considering that conference opponent EWU put 52 on the board on what's supposed to be a Pac-12 defense in the Washington Huskies.
-
I'm pretty sure I was absolutely skewered on this board last year for commenting about the scheduling of Valpo while everyone else viewed that game as some sort of program measuring-stick for UND. So you're saying UND can build on a 16-13 win over a bad opponent but had RMU won 16-13, there would be nothing to build upon?
-
Twitter blowing up about this video...NFL's reply? "no comment."
-
And to think Tennessee absolutely ran Phil Fulmer out of Knoxville...Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, and now Butch Jones.
