Heidi Heitkamp was on KFGO and she brought up the anti-trust part of the lawsuit that might be winnable for the Sioux nickname. Is it possible that UND and the NCAA could settle this out of court and maybe have the NCAA take UND off the list since we did get at least 1 tribal approval plus another who won't let their tribe vote plus a state law passed.

To get back at UND. We are members of their association. We have to play by their rules. We had 3 years before the deadline per the lawsuit settlement to get 2 tribal approvals and failed. Game over. I will say the NCAA wins this until its printed that the NCAA will take UND off the sanctions list which we are a little more than a senate vote away from going back on that list. And just remember hockey fans for road playoff games...we will only be known as North Dakota not the Fighting Sioux plus the Sioux hockey jerseys will be replaced by a plain ol North Dakota jersey.

What if I know a lot of what ifs but what if they put harsher sanctions on UND like recruiting (scholarships), a postseason ban, plus forbidding teams to play us. I don't think the NCAA is going to take this lying down.

Then the NCAA will say fine stay the Fighting Sioux but have fun playing in the NAIA.

So who do we blame if the NCAA tacks more years to our transition, or ban us from postseason alltogether or other sanctions. Its their rules we are only a member.

I just want to know this. How could the NCAA enforce this (changing the REA) since its not a "UND" building its a Grand Forks building. It would be like NDSU trying to change the Fargodome its a city building not a University building. Its almost like a neutral site in a way. The old REA thats a University building, same with the Hyslop, and Memorial Stadium, but Kraft, BESC, REA, and Alerus are run by the city of Grand Forks not UND.

Good luck changing something you don't own Kelley. Better start building another rink.

I was at Super Target last weekend, and I went to the sports area because in the Fargo Target they have Bison shirts with North Dakota State Bison and the Bison logo, so I figured ST would have Fighting Sioux shirts...NOPE!!! Just North Dakota, and the UND logo on it, no Indian logo, no Fighting Sioux. Is this change happening all over the retail world outside of Scheels and the REA?

We (Fargo) had near nothing for precip so far in February, but after hearing some experts from the NWS the jet stream is now shifting to a more west to east pattern giving us more and more chances for storms (the current jet stream brought us cold after cold and nothing for snow). We will have a lot more precip between now and when the river starts to rise. I saw a while back on the History Channel that we are headed for another ice age instead of the global warming theory. If that happens I bet we go back to Lake Agassiz but that won't be for a long time. We are in a wet cycle thats why in summer we don't have droughts and temps everyday in the upper 90's and 100's like in the 80's.

They could pick 3 crappy names, then have people vote on it just so they say that everyone had a say in it.

Not that I would think it would happen, but nothing these days suprises me anymore.

So what happens if someone comes up with a bill that says UND should NOT be called the Fighting Sioux then what happens?

Would it be North Dakota Spirit? Or the North Dakota Fighting Spirit?

My thread was about how many topics there were on Bisonville about UND. How they haven't really moved on. Other people post about other message boards...heck there is one about LA Tech. Better shut that thread down.

I think the 3 pointer to tie the game at halftime was the turnaround point of the game. It gave them confidence and they made big time free throws too. Great win Sioux and next season will be a better year as these kids mature...2012 is coming and most of these kids will be Juniors and this might be UND's plan all along start very young, and hope by the time they mature it will be time to make a playoff run. GO SIOUX!!

How about kicking us out of the NCAA. Its their association its their rules. NAIA here we come.

No faith in our football team Old Time Hockey? NDSU just hosted a playoff game and we become playoff eligible next year. As for the Betty no faith in our men's or women's bball team. There is more to Sioux athletics than hockey. And what about the chance the NCAA will throw more sanctions against UND or better yet...make our D1 transition longer. They did it to another school.

Word up.

So no playoffs at either the AC, REA or the Betty....ever. No Gophers, Iowa, or WIsconsin except the WCHA (until they leave), and who knows what other sanctions the NCAA could throw at us. Retire the name. Its over. Whats the point if we go to the WCHA final five in plain ol North Dakota jerseys and not being known as the Fighting Sioux (per NCAA sanctions).

Idaho and/or Fresno St...any chance for a FBS win? I say we pull the upset over Idaho. But for the rest of the season: Drake- W @ Idaho- W @ Fresno St.-L BHS- W @SUU L Mont West-W Cal Poly-W @UNC-W Sioux Falls-W @UC Davis-L USD-W 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the GWFC plus a FBS win. I think this will be our turnaround year with "THE" year only 21 months away. If we have a losing season or losses to the non D1 teams Mussman's job I think will be in jeapordy. '
