$$$$ does a lot of talking. Picture this scenario. Minnesota is close to the playoffs but their SOS has them playing Michigan Tech and not UND. Minnesota misses out of the playoffs, fans are pissed, and who do they blame the AD who says nothing I can do we can't schedule UND....Then the president's head comes on the chopping block. Minnesota's main sport is hockey. Football , basketball a close second.

You think the pro-nickname supporters are going away...espeically those on the 2 reservations? There are a lot more pro supporters than anti supporters.

I agree that if Faison thinks the best thing for UND is to change the name because it hurts scheduling or if teams wasn't going to play us....then where is the proof of this. Let us see that College A is not going to schedule UND because of the name. Or else there is just speculating on that colleges won't schedule us. Minnesota may rebutt on their policy if they play in the BTHC because UND brings $$$ to Minneapolis where Michigan Tech does not.

What makes MSUM think they can start a hockey program and automatically join the WCHA? We are not a minor league conference, at least Bemidji State won hockey titles at other divisions and was in D1 for awhile before being added to the WCHA. I think we will hear NDSU start talking about hockey soon, at least they have a nice hockey facility what does Moorhead have a high school size rink.

2 questions I have. #1 Minnesota sticks with the no Indian name policy and decides not to play UND? Would they reconsider this when Michigan Tech is on their home schedule as a non-conference game? #2. Since everyone knows the BTHC is about $$$$$ Whats the chances they relax their policy and invite UND in since UND is one the top money makers in all of college hockey if not the leader. I just think the BTHC could not hurt UND at all simply because we are at the top of the league. Ohio State and Penn State and now maybe Indiana...good luck with that trio.

I can see maybe a conference flip flop of teams....Mich Tech bolts for the CCHA, Alaska to the WCHA, UAH to the CCHA, and the BTHC begging other Big Ten schools to start up hockey...Nebraska, Purdue, Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.

Replacements for Minny and Wisconsin could be Alaska and N. Michigan. Works for Mich Tech and UAA.

So what happens when UND goes ahead with the retirement on Aug 15th even though the law goes into effect August 1st? If the SBoHE has all the power, even over the state.

Whats the possibility of the Dakota 4 reuniting in the Big Sky if say Montana and Montana St go FBS and if Davis and Poly leave for more of a West Coast League since more Cal teams are restarting or starting up football. IMO I think we are better off without the Summit unless there is a punched ticket into the MVFC, since the Big Sky doesn't offer baseball that could be another reason NOT to shut out the Summit.

The Sioux staying within 10 points of Air Force is great. No embarrassing loss there. UND should come out next year even better.

I agree. He did a great job in the Dru Sjoden case he is a good attorney, and I think Stenjum would just muck it up again.

Maybe he can take this instead of Stenjum that way we (state, UND, and the nickname) win.

Or face other sanctions by the NCAA. Like bannishment from the NCAA or longer transition, or other crap they can think of. Is there any chance of some deal between the state and the NCAA so this does NOT go to court. We did get 1 tribal approval.

I would think neutral would be more Missouri, or Illinois. I would think KC wouldnbe a good place but the Big 12 tourny plays there every year (to the dislikes of non-Jayhawks fans).
