North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem, for years one of the strongest advocates for UND retaining its Fighting Sioux nickname and logo, said today that bills introduced in the Legislature Monday to enshrine the symbols in state law face a significant constitutional hurdle. It won't fly. For one thing AG Wayne Stenjeum would find it unconsitutional or some crap like that and the bill would die, also its past the NCAA 11-30-10 deadline. Unless they can strike a deal with the NCAA FIRST, then the Standing Rock (which won't fly either). Just let the nickname enjoy its retirement. Its sad and cruel that it ended but where was this legislature in 2008, 2009, and all of 2010?

If the NCAA had balls and stuck with the original list and made all NA nicknamed schools get rid of the name and logo instead of providing exceptions...Florida State's logo could have looked like this.

This is my point as well. Take this scenario UND is 7-3 with 1 of those wins against SCSU...then we lose the last game of the season oh guess what NO PLAYOFFS because we would have 6 D1 wins. Now as a Sioux fan I would be mad as hell at the AD for scheduling a D2 team when this scenario could happen and take us out of a playoff hunt. Its stupid. With USD, SDSU, and NDSU in our own tri-state we could hope to gain just 1 FCS team out of those 3.

I agree. What would make this an attendance getter? Because its St. Cloud? If fans know that this game does nothing but hurt our chances at the playoffs they won't show up. I know I am NOT driving up from Fargo to see the Sioux play a D2 or NAIA game in 2012 or beyond. D2 days are done...move on UND!!!

2013, 2014 and 2019 are the 12 game seasons. If we play the Wagners or the St. Francis or D1 (cupcakes) it counts as a D1 game. We play D2 St Cloud or whoever from D2 or NAIA it doesn't count as far as playoffs go. We need 7 D1 wins. How does beating St. Cloud help us if we end up with 6 D1 wins and a win against SCSU. Every game counts when playoffs are on the line (except non D1 games).

How come NDSU, or SDSU has yet to schedule a D2 or NAIA team since becoming playoff eligible....maybe they feel like we are D1 lets play D1 teams. I like that philosophy. Lets play St. Cloud in D1 hockey ONLY!!!

Wasn't there talk of dropping SCSU football due to budget cuts? And the person said it was because we have Oct 15th off....that is not a sure thing that we are playing the Huskies.

When UND played Northern Iowa in 2006 I didn't know any other team in the MVC (Gateway). They are well known in Fargo because of who NDSU plays ask Joe Blow in Maine who is well known BSC or the MVC....thats your answer. When you say BSC = Montana. MVC = UNI? SIU? or just Indiana State (Larry Bird).

Whats the earliest the REA could host a regional? 2011-2012?

Until the summer is over then all the Sioux stuff goes away and the plain ol North Dakota gear comes out and starts collecting dust on the tables.

In 2012 our attendance should be #3 in the BSC. 8154....not bad for a 3 win team.

I want to know how come UND couldn't try to get a home game against UNI I mean we beat them at their house why not go for a home sweep.

The only game slated in 2013 is Montana.

Good news Sioux fans 2012 schedule almost complete FBS @ San Diego St. OOC vs Central Arkansas (other end of the home and home in 2009) 8 Big Sky games leaves only 1 OOC to schedule. Make it a good one Faison.

Maybe its a good thing we will be only known as North Dakota. This is NOT a Fighting Sioux type schedule.

UND has better duplicate this. In 2012 and beyond there better not be any NAIA or D2 teams.
