  1. Some caller just said he would bet money that UND prevents people to wear Sioux gear on campus and at games....I need to bet with this guy.......And take his money. Kelley already said they are NOT going to do that. What an idiot.
  2. Christopher Gabriel show goes from 11am-2pm and I have been listening since about 11:10 so if he was on right at 11 I missed it or else so far he hasn't been on.
  3. It would. And in a perfect world they would do a tribe wide vote today. But its not a perfect world, and they wish to do things their way. There is NOTHING we can do to change the minds at Standing Rock (or the NCAA).
  4. I agree with your post. But I am wondering this: UND (Kelley) decides to start nickname retirement now...August 1st, 2011 comes and the state law comes into effect. Could the state sue UND and NOT the NCAA if Kelley refuses to accept the Sioux nickname to be re-instated? IMO I am for the retirement as painful and sickening it is to say that I think its for the best only to remain in the Big Sky and to say away from IndependentVille. UND is not just hockey (which could be damaging if the WCHA follows the Big Sky and boots UND out ) (even though UND won the 1959 NCAA title as an Independent). UND is hockey, football, basketball, baseball, track and field, swimming and diving, volleyball, etc. The Fighting Sioux name will live forever even through retirement. I still consider myself a West School Warrior, Valley Jr. High Warrior, and GFC Redskin (along with the Maroon and Grey). The Sioux are within all its fans, and when we show up years from now in our Sioux gear (hey new nickname jersey and Sioux hat) the name will never die! Long live the Fighting Sioux, but remember we NEED the Big Sky.
  5. We won't be just the University of North Dakota. Just like GF Central couldn't stay just GFC the powers that be (Kelley, etc.) will pick a name probably something to do with the flame. UND Flames.
  6. It would take a lot to go to the WAC. The biggest hurdle...a new stadium. We need to get to the 15,000 mark and being at the Alerus is not going to cut it and Memorial is not ready for an upgrade. We can't survive in Independent-ville. WAC is not the answer.
  7. I think Al's political career is over. Who in South Fargo is going to vote for this idiot.
  8. Sorry...its hard to see sarcasm on a message board.
  9. Maybe this is a wake up call for the politicians who are involved with the State Law (Gov, AG, etc.) to get a meeting with the NCAA and or the Big Sky and start talking about this issue instead of just playing this out until August. July 1st 2012 we are supposed to be BSC members BUT we can easily get booted before hand. We are NOT "official" members until that date so why get the conference mad but just sitting and doing nothing. Get the NCAA on the phone and get something done not in 2 months not in a month but......NOW!!!
  10. Actually they will go with the Tribal council and only 1 (Spirit Lake) has given the okay. Sioux tribes in this region are aginst the name, and not every one (ex. Standing Rock) are going to let all their members vote on the issue.
  11. More teams may not schedule us if we go back on the H&A list: Not only MInnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin but now....South Dakota State!!! http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/323139/
  12. Or this situation goes against UND like it did the first time around when the SBoHE and Wayne Stenjum f-ed up the settlement with 2 tribal approvals.
  13. I think we have no choice....its either keep the name and go Independent or lose the name and stay in the Big Sky, because there is no way we keep the name and Big Sky.
  14. What is the procedure to retract a state law? Could lawmakers call a special session and get the law repealed? I don't want UND out of the Big Sky...lets get that law off the books and start the retirement process again, and if any Bison fan comes up with legislation to save the name just kick them in the face. Thanks Al for getting our hopes up...again.
  15. Nope...I blame Al Carlson(what can a Bison Alum do for you).
  16. The 1997 flood really slowed Grand Forks down and now they are playing catch up. Plus the GFAFB downsized so that added to GF's so-called stall on its population rise in the 2010 census. But if UND can continue to grow and we actually get "HIGH" paying jobs around GF or even the state for that matter then I can see GF keeping its #3 ranking. They do have the flood problem under control, which is now something new to Minot. Could be a toss-up in the 2020 or 2030 census.
  17. How about Grant Shaft?
  18. Its going to get to a point where we are going to rise up just like in Egypt, and Libya, and other countries that are demanding change, because our democracy is a joke.
  19. With red coming from our opponents.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_mO4u0H6GY 1:18 Mark moves to the side and the helmet is visible. Thank you Mark on bringing the Jets home!!!
  21. UND won't get my vote unless they impress me with big wins. (example a blowout at Idaho or a win at Fresno St.)
  22. Updated other votes: Other Receiving Votes: McNeese State Cowboys 125, Pennsylvania Quakers 114, Western Illinois Leathernecks 100, Southern Utah Thunderbirds 98, Indiana State Sycamores 60, Eastern Kentucky Colonels 57, Old Dominion Monarchs 47, Florida A&M Rattlers 45, Harvard Crimson 44, South Dakota State Jackrabbits 41, Furman Paladins 33, Robert Morris Colonials 27, Jacksonville Dolphins 26, Murray State Racers 22, Weber State Wildcats 19, Elon Phoenix 19 UND is now gone. This is a reply I got for thanking the 25 people who voted for UND. 5 Minutes Ago #21 ursus arctos horribilis View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Add as Contact Moderator
  23. This was my first time voting...and no I didn't give UND a vote. I would like to thank the 25 people that did.
  24. You have to excuse him its the liquor talking that he swiped from mom and dad's liquor cabinet.
  25. So you are saying that NDSU would have stopped the rivalry in 2008 when NDSU joined the MVFC since Gene doesn't want 5 home games. Thank you!!
