  1. Can we blame the NCAA for arson in an attempt to remove the logos.
  2. In question if UND can sue the NCAA again....yes they can according to the settlement, BUT...... only if the NCAA has modifyed, or changed its policy which they haven't. Page 9 of the settlement.
  3. So we have our "drop the name supporters" and we have the "don't even think about it" supporters. If UND retired the name and logo...would all you "don't even think about it" people Not cheer for UND anymore, and/or support some other school? Even though Central changed its name I still support Central. Of course I say go Redskins, or go Maroon and Grey. I would not dis Central and cheer for Red River.
  4. Maybe the NCAA will try to persuay Hodgson to change his mind. Either with money(no not to him but to cover the cost) or tweek the number of logos that need to be removed. Remember UND's REA has to be the #1 money making building in college hockey. If not #1 definately top 5.
  5. Just a thought here...why haven't the Spirit Lake Sioux Nation been in contact with the NCAA. I mean technically its their name since they voted for it. How come no media, no letters, nothing from them. Do they care?
  6. Now that is an excellent post!!
  7. What does this mean?!? That one day we could wake up and be out of a conference? Fixed it!
  8. Don't worry we will have a nickname it happened at Marquette, it happened at Stanford, it happened at Dartmouth.
  9. People think UND should go from Sioux to something else right away, others think no nickname ever or within 5 to 10 years. When Central dropped the Redskins in the summer of 1991 GFC went the 91-92, and 92-93 school year with no nickname. 93-94 they were known just as GFC Maroon and Grey it wasn't until a vote the spring of 94 that GFC became Knights for the school year of 94-95 so you figure no new nickname from spring of 1991 until fall of 1994. So UND could go nickname less for a short period of time and wisely choose one that relates to the school and or the region. UND could go with a colors name as a temp like Central did until a new name is found.
  10. I don't blame Fetch for thinking the way he does. He believes there is still a chance to save the name, and I hope there is a miracle out there that will save it; but I am not betting the farm anymore on this issue. We have had repeated hopes crushed in saving the name. When it looks like a light, boom out goes that light. Here were the chances of hope in this whole issue and what crushed that hope: 2007 lawsuit: there was hope that Janke would rule in favor of UND ....wrong ends in a stalemate with UND having to get 2 tribal approvals in 3 years. Spirit Lake approves tribe wide vote...ends with 67% approval looking good until..... Standing Rock Chair RHHIT and his tribal council disapprove of the name. One time Sioux nickname supporter Charles Murphy is voted in and RHHIT is voted out looking good until.... NO tribewide vote. 2011 ND legislature saves name with a ND state law looking good until.....BSC threatens to kick us out, and NCAA does not reverse its decision on the policy. See a pattern. Its gotta stop and that letter from the BSC to Kelley was the final straw. Its over. Hope IMO is gone. So call us Chicken Littles but as Star2City would say...those are facts!
  11. I agree the clock is at 00:00 in the 4th quarter. GAME OVER! Time to move on.
  12. http://www.bluecorncomics.com/dartrvw.htm
  13. I think Kelley would have but the whole legislation bill thing put the breaks on and dismantled the transition to a new nickname process. Who knows a list of new names could have been listed by now if Carlson would have just shut his mouth.
  14. Kelley even said they would never do that...heck I still have my Grand Forks Central Redskins jacket, and I could wear that to a GFC game and all I hear is "where did you get that jacket" or "where can I get one of those". You can still wear your Sioux gear. But when UND gets a new name I think I may wear both.
  15. ++++++++1
  16. Just because UND won't be named the Fighting Sioux doesn't mean we should forget the name. We can still go to games with our Sioux gear. Say "land of the free and home of the Sioux"...You can still be a "Sioux" fan and also a UND fan by cheering the team that is playing its heart out for the University and its fans. They (athletics) need our support. Yes its a rotten deal we were dealt but lets keep our heads up and go onto that field (court, ice) and win!!! Lets show that other North Dakota school that we will never die!!! FIGHT ON NORTH DAKOTA!!!!!
  17. Just imagine when this is over, and the name is retired (the only way out of this mess) how everyone can focus on the future. What does the future hold for UND sports.....The Big Sky Conference, Playoff Eligibility, hosting a playoff game or maybe a West Regional in hockey, getting out of the Alerus and upgrading Memorial Stadium into a FBS ready field for when the FBS calls us...we will be ready. Look whats ahead when we can get past this final hurdle and see the finish line in front of us.
  18. Their league, their rules.
  19. I think this is how it will go.
  20. And loses big time!!!! You have Sioux fans mad at him for almost getting us out of the Big Sky and you have Bison fans mad at him for wasting taxpayer money on this bill.
  21. Hate to say it but that could very well be true. The BSC doesn't need this going to court. They want it resolved now!!
  22. Someone at the UND law school has to be looking at loopholes in this bill. IMO the wording is law. So if its just UND retiring the name....get Kelley on the phone and retire it now, come up with a new name later.
  23. It says "consider" filing an antitrust suit....well he could say I have considered it but I am not doing it, and because of that wording nothing can be done after that.
  24. Even though its not outdated lets pretend this is one of those turn of the century (20th not 21st), bill that we can just "ignore" and retire the name. Pretend this bill ranks next to shooting Indians in a covered wagon on a major highway on Sunday law (I learned that one as a kid, don't know if it is a real law but sounds like an 1889 law).
