I agree. I have a lot of memories as a kid going to that arena seeing a lot of great hockey players especially the 1986-87 hockey team. But now we have a better arena, and soon something to make our football team even better.

I did see the NDSU at Oral Roberts game...of course that is thanks to Oral Bob. NDSU is way below in the TV market. Football on KVLY doesn't count when you can watch UND football nationwide on Fox College Sports, even basketball nationwide helps in recruiting (and thats without the ESPNU Kansas game).

UND is 3-1 at home (DI games only) and NDSU is 5-4 on the road. I think UND has a good chance at winning. 89-70 UND over SDSU that is the UND team I want to see show up on Tuesday Night. The game will be on Fox College Sports, Midco Sports Net, ND ABC Networks, and UNDSN (formerly FSSN).

I look at it this way. I live in Fargo so I would have to drive 70 miles to: Pay for gas, Pay for parking, Pay for a ticket, Pay for concessions, and maybe pay for a souviener or a game program...all to see UND play an NAIA team that has no merit on the season because only DI wins count towards the playoffs. Sorry but my money will stay with me in Fargo until a DI team shows then I will shell out money, and I think roughly 5-6K people share the same views. We finally have a good team now lets get good DI competition. DI team = money. NAIA team = empty seats.

There is a huge difference between UND/UNI and BSU/UMC. Who the hell would want to go to UMC? They win what 1 game a year. Yikes.

It took NDSU a 6-5 '08 season, 3-8 '09 season, a 9-5 '10 season to get to the 14-1 season and a National title. This is after back to back 10 win seasons in transition. We are coming off of a 8-3 (5-1 FCS) season which is good but we have a long road ahead to get to 14-1 or better and walk off the field with a title. We have yet to play a FULL DI schedule unlike NDSU, we have an average to below average coach unlike NDSU. So if we want to do what NDSU did we do need to: #1 play all DI games, #2 shell out some cash on this sport. Hockey isn't the only sport where we can win a national title..football is the only other one we can do. Basketball is a lost cause because of March Madness so lets spread the wealth.

I hear its hard to schedule but somehow NDSU has no problems with it. Even when teams back out (GSU) they replace them with DI teams. No non DI team vs NDSU since 2006...can't UND follow that example?
