Just to clarify something. Because someone is not an alumn doesn't mean they can't fight for something they believe. I am not an alumn, I love the Sioux name/logo however I can see why its in the best interest of the athletic department to drop the name and logo. If there was some way the NCAA would change their mind I would say fight, sign the petitions, but the NCAA didn't care about our state law they only care about THEIR policies and THEIR rules. We had to have 2 tribal approvals by November 30, 2010...we didn't so its time to retire the name, move on and take care of business in the Big Sky, and the NCHC.

Nodaks was UND's unofficial nickname back in the 1920's and even when called the Flickertails people still called UND the Nodaks.

I think the REA stayed away from it because if they allowed the pro nickname supporters inside to pass out their petitions...the anti-nickname groups could have been allowed inside to do the same thing and what an ugly clash that would be.

I had a couple co-workers visit me on the north side (they live on the south side) their first words were..."its so quiet up here". I like it in a way, but it sucks for shopping.
