You might be surprised how many people outside the hockey program and the REA support the new logo, and now a mascot. People have moved on from the Fighting Sioux, and the interlocking ND period, or also known as the unofficial Fighting Sioux nickname. If you don’t like the mascot don’t interact with it at games, just sit there with your arms crossed waiting for the intermission to resume.

So NDSU gave an extension to head coach Chris Klieman at a base salary of $300,000 with bonuses totaling $450,000 through 2021. How much of that money eats into NDSU’s budget with the new cut by Burgum? UND is in a similar role with Brad Berry being in his last year also there are hot seats of Brian Jones, Travis Brewster and to some Bubba Schweigert to think about as well. Can schools afford big payouts to coaches and cut sports or academics?

Nothing about football is getting cut.....PERIOD!!

There is no reason they need to be 4 year. Instead of cutting from the major universities, cut these instead.

I suppose with lawmakers that would be deemed a “drastic” move. They would rather see colleges hack academics and sports but at the same time give themselves raises.

How about we cut some 4 year schools down to a 2 year. We need only 4 of them in this state (UND, NDSU, Minot St and Mary). If our state is hurting that much that it’s cut, cut, cut every year maybe looking at this needs to be brought to Burgum’s attention.

My guess is that NDSU didn’t want to give UND any kind of an advantage. NDSU is playing Butler so it’s not like it’s gonna be a close game. Fans will be bored at halftime and head out to the MOA. Crowd will be 99% Bison, but if they were playing UND it would definitely be close to 50%.

With UND crushing the Bison in the 70’s there wasn’t much for him to cheer for.

If it costs that much people will argue why spend money on lacrosse when you can spend it on women’s hockey.

Grand Forks and spring sports don’t go together. HPC could host it as the Alerus would probably be used for softball. Other than venue, I would love to see lacrosse. It looks fun.

Burgum is a Bison fan, wouldn’t be surprise to see him at the Bison spring game. Isn’t Bismarck more Bison fans after the success of Carson Wentz? Hold the spring game, yes make it green vs white, and hold it at the Alerus.

Is lacrosse a fall or spring sport? What facility would they play at to make money (Alerus, Memorial Stadium)?

Seems like our offense was really explosive under Muss maybe it’s because the defense couldn’t stop the opponent from scoring and every game became a track meet, but when Bubba took over our points per game has been low. I would love for us to hold opponents to 14 points or less while scoring 30+. Last year only 2 times we scored more than 27 points. I can’t wait to see what our new QB does, because we can’t run the ball on every down.

You do know UND wasn’t the only college to cut academics/sports. Burgum made ALL North Dakota college and universities cut their budget.

I see it to anyone saying Go Hawks (not just me). It’s the same back and forth all the time. It just gets old.

But people throwing the Sioux name at the faces of people who have moved on isn’t helping things either. Person 1: Go Fighting Hawks Person 2 replying to comment: you mean Sioux. Person 1: no I mean Hawks Person 2: real UND fans say Sioux, you are too PC with your USPS logo. So again it’s a circle that needs to stop.

It took UND 60 years to get a Fighting Sioux mascot lasted one year and now 25 years later here we are again.
