  1. They should bring back women’s hockey it only costs $35,000 like the mascot. They can survive on that right? Gotta love social media!!
  2. Maybe they will do that, I wonder when the voting begins on a name. Overall the mascot looks pretty good, reminds me of North Texas’ scrappy.
  3. I still would like to have seen the 2 other logos that Ed Schafer didn’t pick. Funny how that’s the only thing students never got a chance to vote on.
  4. No I haven’t, and the only thing there that interests me would be to see the smurf turf. I have been to Sioux Falls and it’s a nice city and a lot closer to home than Boise.
  5. Even though my Jets lost, that OT period (both OT's) had the best action of the playoffs. Should be a rocking Bell MTS Place for the next couple games. GO JETS!!
  6. Attendance would be interesting to see if the championship game is IPFW vs Western Illinois or Oral Roberts. Half the conference is a Dakota team with Omaha 2 1/2 hours away. Thats 5 "local" teams out of 9 total. Pretty good odds that attendance is going to skyrocket.
  7. I guess instead it goes to Boise.
  8. I've never been through Vermillion but I've been through Brookings....never stopped in it.
  9. Attendance in Reno- very poor Attendance in Sioux Falls-record breaking I think a lot of people will turn out for UND playing in Sioux Falls compared to Reno or even Boise. 2017 BSC Championship game UND vs Weber State: 2,025 2018 SL Champ game USD vs SDSU: 11,235 Grand Forks to Sioux Falls: 319 miles Grand Forks to closest Big Sky member (Bozeman, MT) 817 miles
  10. Compared to Boise, Idaho? On September 18, 2017, the Big Sky announced that its men's and women's tournaments will relocate in 2019 to Boise, Idaho; the initial contract runs for three years at CenturyLink Arena, through 2021.
  11. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com/college-football/gallery/best-live-animal-mascots-college-football-ncaa-bevo-ralphie-smokey-mike-the-tiger-uga-102215%3famp=true UND could have both a live Hawk and someone in a Hawk costume.
  12. Probably close to the Miami Redhawk and hopefully far away from the Iowa Hawkeye mascot, that thing is hideous.
  13. After reading that, it opens old wounds of that old debate, myself, I never thought of it as hostile and abusive and I still despise people like Wayne Stenjeum, Miles Brand, and the tribal council of the Standing Rock for what they all did to get where we are today. Now I am glad we don’t have to worry about NCAA sanctions, tribal council votes, and another nickname process.
  14. So it’s the fault of those who support the name and logo, and those Fighting Sioux Forever folks who like to call names on social media, make fun of the nickname and logo, and boo the athletes at games are innocent of causing a split in the fan base. You are right the University didn’t want this. 3 years with a new name I am sure they thought more people would be behind the name and logo and every year more and more people are, but you have those people who like to stir the pot and fight back with all they have to make people see it their way and their way only.
  15. Exactly. Dave St. Peter said the same thing in the article I posted. Everyone can see that the no nickname option was the Fighting Sioux name unofficial. The NCAA even sent a letter saying if they went with the no nickname option any complaint from any school would result in getting a new nickname. So Fighting Hawks cancelled all of that.
  16. http://m.startribune.com/north-dakota-nickname-committee-eliminates-no-nickname-option-for-und/318111091/ Both the no nickname option and Green Hawks were eliminated by the 11-member committee, which includes Minnesota Twins president Dave St. Peter, a UND alumnus who grew up in Bismarck, N.D. St. Peter was among the four who voted against eliminating the "no nickname" option. St. Peter acknowledged that the "North Dakota" option was favored by a number of people who felt it was a way to show support for the abandoned Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.
  17. Its okay, we will meet Minnesota in the NCAA Tournament.
  18. So does your anger towards the name, logo, school, grow every year there is a Hawk on a jersey, a Hawk on a building, a Hawk on a shirt, and a soon to be Hawk dancing for kids in the crowd. Better see a doctor soon, cause your anger will kill you in the near future as the Hawks name and logo is there to stay.
  19. Did you suggest the two nicknames during the process?
  20. Coyotes, yes. Jackrabbits yes, Bison?? There are many Bison nicknames out there. Three DI teams are called Bison or Bisons, Howard, Bucknell, Lipscomb and more locally U of Manitoba. Ask someone in our nations capital which Bison they identify with the Dakotan Bison or the one that plays there. Yes Hawk is another “generic” nickname but with over 300+ DI schools you run into duplicates. The NCC saw two Mavericks and neither Omaha or Mankato saw a need to change. In hockey Michigan Tech and St Cloud State has Huskies and neither changed because of it. The nickname process was a mess but that like the Sioux name its in the past. We are the Fighting Hawks since 2015, and it will be that way going forward. There is no killing the name and starting over as no name will be good enough unless it’s the Fighting Sioux to people, you could have 100 name processes and 100 of them would pick a name that isn’t good enough to satisfy the Fighting Sioux forever crowd.
  21. I wonder how many Redskin forever people attended the hockey tournaments? And that is 24 years removed.
  22. Keep your head in the sand, cause reality is going to kick you in the @ss. There was an article on FB from WDAZ about the decline in Canadian shoppers, and in the pic was Target with 2 shoppers in front of the store what do you think was on one of shoppers’s shirt? I will give you a hint....it’s the current nickname of the school. More and more people are wearing it than this time last year and it will only increase as time goes on.
  23. It’s okay if you see a person wearing a Fighting Hawk cap or shirt. They cheer for the same school. And what’s funny is your reply to my comment in which you “fixed” can go for the Fighting Sioux Forever crowd as well. There are people who have moved on. Pretty fun sight seeing 10,000 Fighting Hawks fans waving their Hawkerchief during the Potato Bowl, but I’m sure after the game they ran home to hug their Fighting Sioux pillow apologizing to Ralph Engelstad for touching anything with the Hawk on it.
