Did you know UND was known as the Fighting Sioux SIX years ago? To some it would seem like it was dropped an hour ago.

Yes it is. It’s a circle which needs to stop.

Someone commented, “Someone should have worn a Sioux jersey”. This is why we have the same conversations over and over.

No one was complaining on where the hockey sticks were, and being at the REA I thought was great since it’s a big symbol of college hockey. It’s the Fighting Sioux in the tweet that people are having issues with.

Mascots are geared towards kids, just like cheerleaders are geared towards adults.

Would you have been in favor of a Fighting Sioux mascot similar what FSU does. Or do you not like mascots at all.

I have always said it will take time. People laugh that "no one is buying Hawks stuff", I hear that on social media all the time, but where will we be in 10 years, further along. Twenty years like you said there will always be Fighting Sioux faithful but most of the crowd will be wearing FH stuff.

I think he is saying why do the hockey players say they are playing "Sioux hockey" (its been said during intermission interviews), but you don't hear football, basketball, volleyball players saying they are playing Sioux football, basketball, volleyball. Maybe its the atmosphere? I don't know, but no one currently playing played under that name so it seems odd its just that program.

I myself wear a Sioux hoodie and jacket to work, when not at work I wear a Hawks cap, Hawks shirt, Sioux hockey jerseys. I love the Fighting Sioux name and logo, been cheering for the Sioux since 1984 (my first game), I have Sioux memorabilia all over the place. I still have a Grand Forks Central Redskins cap and jacket. But because I have that I don't make fun of the Knights name and logo. We had a voting process that picked the name Knights over Pride. 24 years later I don't think any hockey players say they are playing Redskin hockey, and I don't think the crowd chants Redskins forever or Go Redskins. Cheer for the team but don't degrade the fan.

I’ve been called “a non-UND fan”, “PC”, among other names on hockey Facebook pages because I post the Hawks logo, or say go Fighting Hawks. So It goes both ways. Does your last paragraph refer to a Fighting Hawks player using this tribute to say Fighting Sioux?

Do you think our team was so bad when Bubba took over, that he is focusing on fixing key areas one at a time rather than fixing the team as a whole? He has fixed our defense (injuries killed them last season), and our running game (one of the best in the FCS), but at the same time not enough to fix QB, OL, and Special teams.

The amount showed the humanity and caring of people while her vile comments shows she is selfish, jealous and trying to turn a thoughtful donation into a 15 minute of fame tweet which backfired on her. I hope she gets fired and we never see any tweets from her again on this or any subject.

I misread what Mafia wrote, Siouxperfan said to calm down and I agreed. I have post under one name. Jim Dahl can ban me from the site if I am lying. It’s not unheard of to have more than one person on this site that agrees with the concept that most coaches have embraced the new name while Berry, the REA and the presicous Sioux forever snowflakes have not.

What’s hilarious is the strong division within the UND fanbase.

No, my point was there was always a logo at center ice ever since the building opened until the Hawks logo was created, but the REA didn’t want to offend the presicous Sioux Forever fans by putting it at center ice or anywhere on the ice unlike at Scheels Arena and Sioux Falls. Maybe when UND takes control of the arena the Hawk logo will be welcomed into the building and on the ice.

For some replace the word Hawk with Sioux.
