I would call what Ralph did usefulness but it seems like a spoiled kid, with a lot of power, holding a university hostage for her own personal gain. After all UND is not her Alma mater so why should she care as long as the money is flowing her way. The whole reneging on the UNLV med school is painting her (not Ralph, not Betty, but Kris) is a whole new light.

Are SEC teams allowed to play FCS teams? Playing that conference would be great. I am enjoying the p5 teams like the Pac12 and the Big 12. Has a little more meaning than MAC or MWC teams (even when we lose).

There will always be people to criticize any logo that is not the Sioux logo, however to play devils advicate, maybe people are pissed that they didn’t get a voice on the logo, the only voice on it was Ed Schafer. Why wasn’t the other logos available for public view? And why weren’t they voted on. IMO if people voted on a logo it may have defused the hatred a little.

From 1997-2003 we saw 2 national titles and 3 national title games from the hockey team, 3 national titles from the women’s basketball team and 1 national title and 2 national title games from the football team. 7 years: 6 national titles, and 8 national title games. Our sports can all be successful, we can make a run in the dance (Loyola-Chi did), we can win a national title in FCS football (no point in moving up if an undefeated UCF can’t have a shot at a title), and we can win it all in hockey. It shouldn’t be UND football vs UND hockey it should be UND vs our opponents.

That one is mind boggling, what does the football team have to do with the Engelstad’s? If anything I would think the city would be pissed cause that could be more money going to the city instead of the Engelstad’s.

Would the division of fans be less if the hockey team wasn’t playing in an arena plastered with Sioux logos?

Sounds like to Kenndy’s view the school is the University of Engelstad, where they have all the power and call all the shots, and he is calling out Kris McGarry. Still need a lot more answers on the conversation between the two.

I know they are anti change when it comes to the name, and I’m sure (even though Kris denies it) the nickname change is part of this, but what else could be sour between the Engelstads and Kennedy that is not nickname related?

Hopefully someone else was there or was their recordings of the conversation. The he said-she said thing could go either way, but like you said Kennedy’s track record isn’t the best plus public opinion on him compared to someone named Engelstad isn’t in his favor.

100% agree. Lots of questions like, what was wrong with the contract that is agreed every year since 2001. Why threaten something like pulling teams out of the Betty. Now with budget cuts again from Burgum the school has to chop more things (athletic or academic). Can we ever have a peaceful offseason?
