No sanctions will be handed to UND if fans wear Fighting Sioux gear ONLY if UND gets a nickname. If UND goes without one and someone complains ( And you know they will) about fans dressing in Fighting Sioux gear then the NCAA will hand down sanctions. To sum it up: get a nickname and the NCAA is off our backs, go without a nickname and you are playing with fire.

Very true. I just find it odd how they suspend a punter indefinitely for trying to break into a car before he is tried in court, but yet other players in the past got a game or nothing at all for more serious charges. Makes a difference when it's not Bohl and Taylor in charge of the punishments. But you have a point he wasn't a starter so why not give him the axe.

I got my 3 tickets for the Potato Bowl, I am actually glad at what I saw on the ticketmaster webpage for ticket availability. Not too many seats left. Of course most of the tickets out there are close to the endzones, but as you move towards the 30 they are gone.

How many people who attend Grand Forks Central games cheer Lets go Redskins? After 21 years of being the Knights I don't think there is a single person, it will eventually happen at UND with a new nickname. Time will decrease (kill) the Fighting Sioux chants, and thats what the NCAA wants.

If UND chooses no nickname the NCAA sees that as being "unofficially" the Fighting Sioux, no other NCAA school does that. If we have a nickname and some fans cheer for the Sioux the NCAA can't change that since UND will already have a new name. Also when UND has a new name the chants for Fighting Sioux will get less and less it already has with no nickname. How many people will chant Lets Go Sioux in 5 years of being the Fighting Hawks or the Rough Riders. Unfortunately it will die out.

It doesn't matter if UND has a new nickname and fans cheer Lets go Sioux, I am sure some Miami fans chant lets go Redskins.

If Texas moves and if the Oklahomas and Kansas' move would there be room for a Big 12 north division also known as the MVFC/BSC FBS division? How sweet that would be.

Why wouldn't Texas join the SEC instead of the ACC, geography and Texas A&M would be a plus compared to traveling to Duke and Wake Forest.

It takes a little more. Look how many were offended by the NCAA and them telling UND to retire the Sioux name...and the many I am talking about were the Sioux themselves.

You mean like Fighting Irish? $$$$$ NCAA won't touch it. I think they bit off more than they could chew with the NA list when FSU threaten to sue and lucked out when they got permission. I think the NCAA is done with getting rid of nicknames.

Over the last 3 years we have been transitioning towards a new nickname with the cool down period, thats gone a whole new chess match has begun with the NCAA.

Or in a few years the UND president will say our school will be called this and its game over. Do we want to risk that? Or another thought of doing a do-over would be what if the final (enter number here) is all bad names again, you think we are doing this every few years forever? Pick a name now and move on...football season starts in 32 days.

Which is why we need to pick a nickname, so we can keep them happy...for now.
