This is so cool... I have dataflix... I ran it to my TV with an s-video cable and changed the pixels setting and I now have that little dataflix window up to about 18x23 inches on my television AND it is running through my home stereo system... Just like it being on TV... a small TV, but TV nonetheless! Now I can record the games too!

How much time is left?

I thought Dataflix, which I am subscribed to, only broadcasts HOME games. Does Denver also have an agreement with Dataflix. Cause, if not, the games won't be on... And... since we both went to law school at UND... we should also bring up the fact that he is complaining about FREE SPEECH. Sure, saying "one-syllable" words might not be protected in all instances, but this idiot first year law student should at least take the time to acknowledge that speech, even if disagreeable, is permitted. Instead, he invokes a higher power than the constitution... the NCAA rule book... and insists that IT be the law of the land. Here is some advice for him... stay in the law library... it should fix both your problems... no more assaults on your ears... and a deeper understanding of the law.

I think our PP is 50/50... 50% of it is dedicated to getting the goal... the other 50% is equally tuned to preventing a SH goal. Like Deano said before the Minnesota series... he isn't worried about it if they are scoring almost 5 goals a game w/o it. Guess he has a point...

I looked at the site and... good news - bad news... good news... the have the equipment needed to pick up the Ku broadcasts from "free-to-air" (i.e. wild feeds). The bad news... on their "complete systems" link that I came to, I can't tell what equipment can do what... as they are prepackaged. My advice... call the company and play dumb. Say "Hey, I need to watch some hockey games that are broadcast on what I think is a wild feed at Galaxy C3/Ku, Transponder 18 on some Friday and Saturday nights... do you have a cheap system that can handle that type of broadcast?" Also, if you do get a Ku system, you will have EVERYTHING that DishNetwork or DirecTV has... except you will have one better... the ability to pick and, more importantly - pay, for your channel line-up ONE CHANNEL AT A TIME IF YOU WISH. In short, ditch you cable and pick and choose the channels you want. If I do the same with a BIG dish that has C and Ku and drop my DishNetwork (and I have EVERYTHING but Showtime and a couple other channels) I will still drop from $68 a month to $51 AND have about an extra 75 "wild feed" channels to go along with that. Again... call... play dumb... give the coordinates... get the price... order immediately! Remember... the satellite you get has to be able to "move" - not "fixed" like dish/direct. Hope that helps.

I was a bouncer and The Edge/Jonesey's in the mid-90's during college... and, for some reasons, hot young women always seemed to have "valid" ID's... even if it showed them as 40 year old Asian men. Why do players go there despite the constant watch of police... simple... BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THE WOMEN GO!!! As my law school hockey T-Shirt says... "Hockey players are good at two things... and hockey's the other one!" Aye, Schmidtdoggydog.

Hold it a second everyone! One game does not a season make... not for Brandt... not for Parise... and definitely not z-man. Let us now forget... although we saw the side of Brandt that we all knew (hoped?) was there, he has also shown that he can let in a landslide of terrible goals and, at times, can be a total head-case. To the contrary... we have not seen how the others will respond should they have a "bad" game. Will they bounce back... will they fold... will they play with doubt... will it just make them more determined. So, for now, instead of making "#1's" and "#2's," I would suggest a short game of wait and see... for I would rather have a juggling act now, than in March!

Hopefully I can clear some of this up... There are, essentially, two types of satellite signals... C band and Ku band. These bands are so named based upon the frequency that they fall into. For the most part, C band is "analog," and Ku is "digital." Now... just as in phones... C band has a greater reception range. These types of signals are known as BIG DISH signals. However, because it is not digital, it is more likely to have reduced clarity, but is less likely to lose the signal completely(but... wait,and I will explain further below). Ku is broadcast, for the most part, in digital format and is used, for example, by DishNetwork and DirecTV i.e. LITTLE DISH. The advantage of KU is "full-time" digital quality. The down side... you either have the signal or you don't i.e. rain storm, snow storm, etc. can block the signal. As for the broadcasts from The Ralph, they are known as "wild" feeds. They are free... you just need to "tune" your BIG or Small dish to the right satellite coordinates. On the BIG dish, the dish may actually have to "move" around. On KU, for the most part, you just point to the SW skies and it gets relayed to you. Regarding "quality" of reception, although analog is typically not as "clear" as digital, a C band broadcast is still MUCH clearer, on average, than even a digital channel on, say, DirecTV. Why... I will explain. Imagine you have a bunch of straws in your hand. Inside each straw is hollow. With DirecTV... they have to fit all of their channels into the straws in your hand. With a "pure" C band (and even non-affilliated Ku satellite systems), they can use every straw in your hand to broadcast just ONE channel. In short, DirecTV has to compress as many channels as they have into the broadcast range they have. With a "pure" feed, it is like you are getting the actual "live" version of the broadcast. So, in conclusion, and to get to the point... C band and Ku band nonaffiliated systems are still better than Ku-based DishNetwork and DirecTV. However, a "good" combination C/Ku band system with a BIG DISH (which requires at least a 8'... preferably 10' dish) will run about $1000-$1500. Expensive, but, for a couple hundred dollars more on the receiver, you will also have a fully functioning HDTV-Digital(Ku)-Analog© system which means you can basically watch anything at anytime... some for free... at only pay for what you watch. I am getting one next year... as soon as I convince my wife to let me put it in the backyard! Hope this helps. PS - Look for a bar with a BIG DISH on the roof, and then bring them the coordinates and see if ANYTHING comes in. If a "blue" screen appears, it normally means they GET the channel, but nothing is being broadcast at that time.

What's a Woog? I think Woog was good for Minnesota in the 80's... and good for UND in the 90's! It took Lucia and his "Hockey Mullet" to turn things around for the Gophers... that and a North Dakota kid! Do I want Mercyuhurtssobadtowatchitmakesmesick to win... tough call. True, I would love another game between UND and U of M if we win. However, to have that one game to throw out to every Gopher fan I meet forever is quite an ace-in-the-hole. Tough call... I will wait until the Sioux win and THEN decide!

I am down to one ticket for Friday and two for Saturday... again, I paid $50 and will get rid of them for "around there" so long as you don't tell my wife if you sit by me (us)!

The word here in Minneapolis is that we are going to get between 6-8 inches of snow today/tonight/tomorrow morning, so... pull a CC and leave a day early! Also, I have two extra tickets for Friday and Saturday that I got about a month ago... which I personally believe willed the Sioux into the West Regional. Anywhoo... I think the HB committee put Parise in there to save face for all the attention received (and deservedly so) in the beginning of the year and the "non-stat" things he does on the ice. It is well deserved, but, if the WCHA ROTY goes on JUST WCHA play, I don't think Vanek winning it was such a shock. In fact, it just goes to show how much the voters think of him despite the Sioux's less than great showing in the last half of the season. Needless to say, I expect him to be in the "Hat Trick" of HB finalists next year.

Oh, come on... USCHO is GREAT... not for anything valuable, but just to solidify that UND fans are, at the very least, more knowing, more intelligent and better spellers (you-know-who being the exception!). Besides, it is like free psychotherapy when your favorite team seems to be on a serious slide in the second half of the season... we all know what I am talking about!
