"If" Minnesota wins tonight and faces CC in the championship and beats them, I think it is still "possible" that Minnesota could get a #1 ranking depending on how the other tournaments play out... That being said, and if UND stays a #3 seed, it is possible (again) that, given the NCAA's love of $, UND "could" stay in the West Regional... an extreme long shot... but the NCAA doesn't really have to justify what they do, as they only use the PWR as a "guide" in making selections and setting matchups for the NCAA's. Any thoughts on how this could happen from more mathematical persons than I?

No jinx here... But does the WCHA use the tie/total goal thing still, or do they go sudden death until somone wins?

Well, say what you want about the team in general, but I can't think of ONE game where I can say the goaltender won it for us... and you NEED to be able to say that if you are a "top" team in the WCHA! As for the rest, great job of crystalizing the coaches show. It's been a pleasure!

North Dakota, Colorado, Minnesota-Duluth, Wisconsin & Minnesota. Taking into account the "historical" past and the "greats" of recent years, I would be most impressed if the above listed teams all made it. If fact, it seems as if the current pairings would allow it and make for some pretty good final five action with: - Wisconsin v. Minnesota (Friday night game... BIG attendance) - UND v. Minnesota-Duluth (some early Thursday revenge for UND after slapping UM-D around the ice for 110 of 120 minutes two weekends ago but letting them walk out of Grand Forks with 3 points!) - UND v. CC (no need for comment... would be a GREAT game) The final would see the best WCHA attendance "draw" imaginable... the Fighting Sioux v. Golden Gophers... with the Sioux locking up an automatic NCAA bid with the win. You heard it here first...

I always go to the Big 10 after games... before is anyone's guess! Does anyone have any "insight" on where the majority of Sioux fans will be BEFORE the game? Post quickly!

Does this mean that, among other things, Ranfranz has earned some favor from Blais and the coaching staff?

Schmidtdoggydog is absolutely right in every aspect! When all these goaltenders came in, I thought "How can we use them all!" Now, I am thinking, how can we just get one or two to play up to their potential! Hard questions... sort of a chicken/egg scenario. For the rest of the team... forget about the cup, the home ice advantage or even the PWR... just PLAY! We now know that this is still a "rebuilding" year (and in no way do I mean that UND doesn't have the "staff" to win it all!), but I know there are a lot of GREAT players on this team settling for playing their position instead of being stars. These guys ARE stars, or Deano wouldn't have them on the team. Maybe, for the time being, you should think one less pass and one more move toward the goal (ah la Speiwak this past weekend!). My point... play loose... the monkey is no longer on your back. Do it for us! More importantly, do it for the greatest hockey school in history! God I love the Sioux!

Wow! Bayda joining the ranks of the "great" UND players of the past. Just goes to show you why all us fans love the Sioux so much... continued joy after the UND days are gone... too many to count and loving every minute of it (please don't reply the Loverboy song in your head after reading that!).

Do you pull the goalie if it is still tied at the end of OT and try and steal 2 points knowing CC came away with one? Just a thought...

Weird? Even though Ranfranz has been pretty much unseen the whole year... he is still the second leading vote getter. Hopefully this weekends trip to Denver will yield a start for him... and a win... and a shutout?

Well, all this talk about goalies has made me more nervous than before. I thought they were bad, but now that the national comparison stats are flying, I realize just HOW bad they are. But, and all the same, I really don't care that much about past performance at this point. We just need ONE guy to step forward... which I gather would be Brandt from his "practice" play, but he flops on the ice like an ice fisherman with no live-well... did I just use an ice fishing analogy... OUCH! Anyway, I hope Dean knows what he is doing (regarding the goaltending... there is NO question that he is a great coach). I still say give Ranfranz a chance. He may not do as well in practice, but from what I have seen, he maintains position, softens some pretty hard shots and, most importantly, forgets about a goal scored against him (so it seems) about as soon as the light goes off. Crossing my fingers for some CC losses (not this week... they play the East-West School for the Blind... or something like that!).

Well, the what if calculator has told me that CC needs to fall twice and UND needs to win out the season. IMHO, I think CC has a good chance of losing twice playing twice at SCSU and once at Denver (not to mention a series with Mankato). Question is... can the Sioux, with the sub-par goaltending, win it out? The current streak has been from a number of things... but I think they will start a new one... hopefully lasting through the Frozen Four.
