Still some good forwards in the portal to fill a couple of the holes...hopefully they can grab a couple more high end CHLers once the season concludes there. They also need to be trying to balance out the forward classes a bit. Right now we only have two SR and zero JR forwards. It'd be nice to add a couple to each of those classes, as we're gonna probably have 5-7 FR forwards next year. Agreed. We'll see what happens...plans can always change. IIRC, Oshie was supposed to play a full year in the USHL as well, but then he played well there after his HS season ended and UND brought him in as a true freshman instead the following year. Not many people can make that jump from HS to NCAA (successfully), but Simpson is certainly making the jump from HS --> USHL look easy.

It’ll be interesting to see how many freshmen forwards we bring in next season and how quickly they acclimate to the college game. Zellers, Klee, and Zakreski for sure. And then O’Neill, Schultz, and Simpson as possibilities too. Everything I’ve heard has Simpson playing full USHL season next year, but he’s certainly playing well there after his HS season ended.

Almost his entire coaching career has been focused on UND hockey. I guess I’m not gonna fault a guy that bleeds green his entire life. I’m willing to give him a chance and see how he does at the helm.

This part. They can commit at anytime. Although it seems that many of the higher end players are waiting until after their CHL seasons are over before announcing the commitment. So we may see a rash of them once those seasons end.

I read it as him saying if he was more career-focused, he would have accepted a HC job when he was offered previously. But he loved UND and GF so he stayed.

Been real quiet for new recruits, portal additions, and CHL mentions. Really nothing since Zakreski. My hope is that Bryn gets announced early next week and we start to see some roster additions shortly thereafter. We have about 8 spots to fill (6F, 1D, 1G) as of now.

BU really buying up the forwards. Wonder if Misa is still planning on heading there too…that was the hot rumor a few months ago.

If two come in of those four I’d think it would be Schultz and O’Neill.

Was wondering about him as well. Same thing as Whitelaw where he’s going for his 3rd team in 3 years, so unsure.
