  1. I think the 07 MSU title team proves that you don't need a blue chip recruit to win the national champs. That was a team that wasn't even expected to get out of their regional, let alone win the title. And while Abdelkader and Lerg were both very good players, they were hardly considered blue chip prospects when entering college. That said, I agree that having a couple "chippahs" certainly helps out. Parise knows that Oshie and Toews led the Sioux the past couple years when playoff time came. But I also think that Genoway and VV are going to be the studs for the Sioux this upcoming season. Both of them are poised to have monster years, possibly All-American type years for each of them.
  2. Regardless of him not being drafted...Mattson is still going to be a special player for the Sioux.
  3. Article on VV from the Oilers website: http://oilers.nhl.com/team/app?articleid=4...mp;service=page
  4. Brad goes more in-depth on the decision of Mattson to wait a year: http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=53486
  5. Wow, as a 94, that's impressive.
  6. I'll be at the Notre Dame tourney for sure.
  7. I like that line. Speed kills. Normally I wouldn't want to put two frosh on one line, but Kristo and Cichy will be two of the best forwards in the nation for freshmen IMO. Both should be able to contribute right away...
  8. Brad has been hot on the Twitter updates today. Alright, it's starting to come together now. Mattson and Knight wait until 10, Rowney comes this fall. Now just the last piece of the puzzle is with Forney. With both Mattson/Knight waiting, I'm guessing that means...welcome back, Michael.
  9. Possibly Fink? He's the only other 09/10 remaining if Forney isn't coming back. Fink's point totals in the USHL aren't that impressive, but who knows...
  10. Yep, according to Brad's blog, Mattson will play in the USHL next season and Knight will be back in the AJHL. Who does that leave? Forney and Rowney perhaps?
  11. Interesting that Mattson is coming in and Knight is coming in next year. I would have thought it would be the other way around. But that's why the coaching staff gets paid the big bucks...they know much better than us!

    Blais

I would guess Kristo for sure. Not sure on who else...
  14. Not really related to Sioux hockey, but Blais was named the WJC coach today. Pretty cool.
  15. It's for the women's hockey team: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/120272 Technically two VERY BIG additions. UND = NCAA title contender with those two.
  16. Let it go. This is the former players thread...no need for 5 pages of bickering. Hope everyone has a happy Memorial Day weekend.
  17. Q&A with Cichy on the Sioux blog: http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=51698 Nice job on the last question, Schloss...
  18. Ouch, Ness as the #1 incoming dman. If they re-did that list after the season, would Ness even be in the top 20?
  19. It doesn't sound like this is a done deal quite yet like the MPR article stated: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/118748/
  20. What are those people going to do with all their free time now? I'm sure they will find another "battle" to fight for someone.
  21. I still can't believe that these polls keep putting BU so high. BU will be lucky to finish top 5 in Hockey East, let alone in the nation. With how much firepower they lose, even BU fans are expecting a big downturn for next season.
  22. Cichy wins MVP, USHL title http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=51010 Can't wait to see him in Green next season!
  23. Good luck to Ryan!!
  24. I would guess that he will get drafted high in the CHL import draft and then go that route. I haven't seen/heard any rumblings of him going the NCAA route.
  25. For now, White is listed as a 10/11 recruit, so he could also be delayed if need be.
