I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a Sioux fan "content" with the results thus far. Everyone here, with no exception IMO, wants a national title. Every single Sioux poster on this forum. But just because some Sioux fans "demand" a title does not make it so. Regular season success. League titles. Playoff titles. National titles. Hakstol-led teams have brought the fanbase all of them except for the most coveted one. Would a different coach have brought a national title to GF during this drought? Maybe, maybe not. If Hakstol was fired/replaced, would a national title soon follow? Maybe, maybe not. The grass is not always greener... The only thing that irks me is how some fans bring this topic up in every single thread. Regardless of time of year. Regardless of the team's record. ("hey look over there, the team is ranked #1 right now!!...Fire Hakstol, he can't win the big one!") It's a valid topic, but does the same conversation really need to be rehashed after the first loss of the year and after every subsequent loss ("we're 0-1, do you think Blais will come back?"). This conversation goes in circles. And it will unfortunately keep going until either Hakstol brings it home or he gets replaced...at which point the circular conversation begins fresh once again. That said, how about this current #1 ranked UND team? Even with all those injuries. Maybe they can hoist that big trophy up at the end of the season in Boston...or Tampa...maybe Chicago...or St. Paul. Heck, why not all four?

National titles aren't realistic anymore? I don't recall any Sioux fan ever saying or alluding to that. I don't think you'll find a more passionate fan base in all of college hockey.

He's already looking forward to next season after writing off the current disaster of a BADger team?

Combined that with his mouthing off before the series...what a classy guy! -
How about we just keep Cags but still add Matthews?
-
I've never heard of this Gates kid. Decent pickup for UMN? And how does he compare to Boeser?
-
That is a very strong group of forwards & dmen. Not sure about the goalie Nedeljkovic, but Demko has not impressed me in the games that I've seen BC play this year. Hopefully goaltending isn't a weakness for this team.

If ever there was a must sweep OOC series, this is it. Go Sioux, pummel them both nights.
-
Ouch. Northeastern? They outshot UMN by a good chunk too. UW finally gets that elusive first W.

Thumbs up.

They lost to Bottineau. Fire brreewits and schmiddts? Simple questoin.

I still think he plays this weekend. Sucks about OD being out now as well.

The first game in Jack Eichel's college career where he has not registered a point.

Great, now we have to worry for the next 5 months about being a bubble team!

I like it. Wouldn't mind a home sweep right about now. Would be great to win a couple before hosting a weaker LSSU team.

I bet GOBC could buy him out easy!

1. I do like winning national titles. 2. I would say that if Hakstol doesn't win one before his current contract is up, that UND needs to potentially be looking at some candidates that could help get it done. Simple question: How many years do you give him?
-
You don't think that some parity has happened in NCAA hockey since that time? Just a coincidence that prior to Holy Cross knocking off UMN, that no #4 seed had ever beaten a #1 seed...but now it happens almost every single year? Doesn't strike you as odd that three of the last four national title teams won their first title (Union, Yale, UMD)...yet before those three the last team to win their first title was Maine in 1993? I am in full agreement that UND has had the horses to win a title in recent years, but just hasn't gotten it done. That said, I do honestly believe that it was "easier" to win a title in the 80's/90's/early 00's...back in those days there were 10 teams most years that had a realistic chance of winning the title. Now that could probably be expanded to 20-25 different teams each year.

I don't dislike any Sioux fan, whether they be a Hak Hater or a Blais Hater or a (slightly harder to find) Rube Bjorkman Hater. And I've got nothing but love for Blais. He is, as you said, a legend at UND (much like his predecessor).

I bet Schmaltz plays this weekend. Then the rest can just sort itself out.
-
It's similar to the Hakstol-haters, I would guess. Most of them just pine for Blais to return, thinking that he would right the ship instantly and bring UND 4 national titles in the next 6 years. It's just not realistic. Much like the Fire Hakstol thread getting started after the first loss of the season. I see all the "cheap shots" as just some posters making fun of the "Bring Dean Back" posters.
