Ortega is quickly becoming a hated, cheap player. First the dumb comments before the UND/UNO series at the REA, and now that cheap dive in OT. I can't believe that they gave them a 5x3 in OT. Statement game tomorrow. I want Ortega pounded into the ice and a 5-1 Sioux win.

If I were a coach, I think it would be hard to pull a goalie from a shutout game...especially a goalie who has had difficulty in closing out shutouts. Maybe they could have put Johnson in after Zane allowed the one goal last night, that I could maybe see even if it would have only been for a few minutes.

That humored me. One PP within 10 sec after Merrimack got a 2 goal lead. And then another PP about 10 sec after they didn't score on the first PP.

Eichel is skilled, but tried to do too much himself all tournament. Lot of weak penalties today, with most being called against the US. The Russian gameplan appeared to be to fall or grab their faces anytime a stick got within a foot of their heads. This was a highly-skilled group of US forwards, but for whatever reason they just didn't click all tourney. Not nearly as much offense as what they were capable of...especially on the PP. Looked horrible most times.

That would be my guess as well. If Zane stays, I could see our 3 goalies stay the same as what we have now for 15/16. That would be ideal, as then Tomek could come in the next season with Johnson as a junior and those two could rotate to get Tomek acclimated until one starter emerges. I like our little pipeline with Penticton. Certainly doesn't hurt to have Nick Fuher up there as an assistant coach. And another Stecher? I would take that in a heartbeat. I like it. "Today, UND would like to announce a four-pack of recruit commitments: Welcome to the team Matthews, Boeser, Fabbro, and Jost!"
